Don't let the scoreline fool you! This was as comfortable as it gets for U Mumba, who simply experimented too much towards the end, and while credit has to be given to the Thalaivas for scoring 14 points in the last ten minutes to make a comeback, they were second-best for most of the night and U Mumba's win was certainly well-deserved.

Sachin Tanwar and Narender's poor run continued, and the Thalaivas had their two corners, Amirhossein Bastami and Nitesh Kumar for keeping them in the game, with substitute Iranian all-rounder Moein Shafaghi proving to be the game-changer. He scored a whopping nine raid points and a tackle point coming off the bench and is likely to push for a spot in the starting 7 in their next match.

For U Mumba, Zafardanesh and Rinku were on top defensively, with the latter finishing with 4 tackle points for the night. However, it was an in-form Manjeet who proved to be the difference-maker for U Mumba, providing much-needed support to Ajit Chauhan in the raiding department, and finishing with eight raid points and two tackle points.

Nitesh Kumar's timing of the tackle has been really good throughout this tournament, and he gets to his High 5 here, bringing Sathish Kannan down. Moein Shafaghi further reduces the difference with an easy escape from Parvesh Bhainswal's challenge, and in the final raid of the match, Nitesh gets his 6th tackle point of the night to bring the scoreline to 32-35.

No one would have seen that coming from the Thalaivas, who've done really well to get something from this game, but take nothing away from U Mumba, who did enough early on in the match to secure a crucial win!

The Thalaivas now call for a timeout with around 40 seconds left to play. As it stands, they will take one point away from this match.

Oh, unacceptable error that from Sourabh, who steps into the lobby without a touch for the second time tonight. The Thalaivas review for the sake of it, but that's clear and obvious, and it's an unsuccessful review. That's two points to U Mumba for the Super Tackle and curtains for the Thalaivas' chances of getting something from this match!

Ohh, wow some comeback this from the Thalaivas!

Dhanasekar is first tackled by a really good challenge from Nitesh Kumar, but all the credit should go to Moein Shafaghi! He shows tremendous strength to escape from Sunil Kumar's knee hold, and as the supporting defenders think they have him under control, he bursts past them to the mid-line, wiping U Mumba out and getting the all-out!

A rare contribution in defense from Sachin Tanwar as Sathish Kannan is brought down by a tackle the former initiated in a do-or-die raid. Moein gets another point for the Thalaivas, forcing an error from Parvesh Bhainswal, reducing U Mumba to three now.

Parvesh Bhainswal adds to his tally with a tackle on Moein before Sachin Tanwar pulls one back for his side, getting away from Zafardanesh's attempted challenge.

Ajit Chauhan shows great presence of mind and spatial awareness to get a touch on the run on a retreating Abishek. At the other end, Sourabh escapes from U Mumba's substitute Amir Ghorbani's attempted challenge.

No wait, he steps into the lobby without a touch first does Sourabh, and that's another point for U Mumba. Nothing going their way tonight.

A do-or-die raid for Sachin Tanwar against a 4-man U Mumba defense, and it's Rinku who saves the day for his side, getting his 4th tackle point with a solid block.

He attempts to get his High 5 does Rinku, but he mistimes the challenge on the substitute Sourabh (on for Narender), who opens his account.

Ohh, well done Sachin Tanwar. He takes it upon himself to raid against a 4-man U Mumba defense and his speed does the talking, forcing an error from Sunil Kumar of all players, who loses his balance and stumbles past the end-line.

Ohh, that was the opportunity for the Thalaivas to make a comeback with Manjeet having a do-or-die raid, but a tad too eager was Moein with his advanced tackle attempt, and it's easy for Manjeet to get away from that.

As the second timeout comes about, the 11-point difference remains, and if something has to happen for the Thalaivas, it has to happen right now!

Zafardanesh errs for the first time in defense tonight, Moein escaping from his attempted ankle hold.

Ohh, great block-dash that from the left cover Anuj Gawade on Ajit Chauhan! That's sheer power from the defender.

Finally a raid point for Sachin Tanwar, who makes the most of an error from Sombir, but they'll need a lot more of that will the Thalaivas!

The substitute Moein is doing it all for the Thalaivas now, contributing with a solid ankle hold on Manjeet. Rinku hits back for U Mumba, however, making no mistake with the ankle hold on Narender as U Mumba extend their lead to 14 points.

Sachin Tanwar's miserable evening continues, and it's an easy ankle hold opportunity for Sombir, who doesn't miss out. The most expensive buy at the PKL 11 auction has had a complete off-day today!

And Manjeet adds to the Thalaivas' misery, breezing through their defense with ease. Amirhossein's challenge is anticipated and dealt with easily by the raider, with Nitesh once again going in late with an ill-advised dash attempt, gifting a point away.

Tamil Thalaivas 13 - 24 U Mumba

Ohh, almost a Super Raid from the energetic Moein, but the tackle initiated by Manjeet gets the support in the nick of time to complete the tackle. At the other end, the Thalaivas do well to contain Ajit Chauhan, with Amirhossein Bastami timing his ankle hold very well, ably supported by his counterpart on the left corner and the rest of the defense.

Well, substitution on expected lines for the Thalaivas, with Sachin Tanwar subbed on for captain Sahil Gulia. Nitesh Kumar should slot in as the left corner now.

Well, the Thalaivas' defense thought they were setting a trap for Ajit, but it's Amirhossein Bastami who's sucked into a challenge by the left raider, who easily anticipates and escapes to the mid-line.

The Thalaivas finish the half on a strong note, with the substitute Moein Shafaghi executing a great escape from the chain tackle by the two cover defenders, reducing the deficit to 11 points as the whistle blows for half-time!

The Thalaivas struggling to score points here as U Mumba firing on all cylinders. Sachin Tanwar has been subbed off after a lackluster first few raids, with his replacement Moein the only bright spark for the Thalaivas. 

Meanwhile, Manjeet's return to form is a welcome change for U Mumba, with Ajit Chauhan high on confidence as well. Amirmohammad Zafardanesh and Rinku have done all the talking defensively, with the Iranian's timing on the ankle hold too good for any raider.

Sunil Kumar gives his team some breathing space and kills time with an empty raid before a do-or-die raid comes about for the Thalaivas, but Moein does well to get the diving hand touch on Parvesh.

The Thalaivas' defense simply unable to handle Ajit Chauhan here, with the young raider easily picking up another point, this time winning a one-on-one with M Abishek.

Moein gets his first point on the night, capitalizing on an error from Rinku, but Manjeet is in great form here, and he has his speed boots on now, forcing an error from the right corner with his pace!

17th tackle point of the season for Amirmohammad Zafardanesh, who puts in another stellar ankle hold to send Narender back to the bench. With the Thalaivas down to two, Ajit Chauhan gets an easy point before Amirhossein Bastami's meek raid is brought to an end by Parvesh's challenge.

Comprehensive performance this from U Mumba who grab a deserved all-out.

Not the best start for the Iranian, who visits the bench straight away after getting subbed on, with Rinku initiating the tackle. At the other end, Manjeet is gifted a point by Nitesh Kumar, who goes way too late on his attempt to surprise the raider with a dash, with the tall raider also securing a bonus point.

And that seems to have Manjeet the raider going here! He follows his previous raid with another 2-point raid, using his height really well to get away from Anuj Gawade's initial double knee hold, also getting Sahil Gulia on the way to the mid-line.

Well, he's not looked one bit convincing tonight, and as a result, Sachin Tanwar is subbed off for Moein Shafaghi.

Tamil Thalaivas 7 - 9 U Mumba

Manjeet is now tackled by Amirhossein Bastami on the Thalaivas' right corner as they slowly make a comeback. However, with Narender on the bench, Sachin has struggled tonight, and in a do-or-die raid, he's completely done in by a pitch-perfect diving double ankle hold from Rinku.

Ajit Chauhan comes in to raid once again, but this time, the Thalaivas' defense is proactive and Bastami's ankle hold attempt receives support in a flash as they send the dangerous raider to the bench.

The whistle for the first timeout is blown soon after that, and we have a really well-paced contest going on here, with neither team letting the other gather too much momentum. Will that change in the second ten minutes of the half?

This young man Ajit Chauhan is some talent! His pace is electric, and he recovers really well from a slip, converting it into a running hand touch on Sahil Gulia.

Narender keeps chipping away for the Thalaivas though, getting his third of the night on Sombir, who was very slow to retreat.

What a start that is for U Mumba? Amirmohammad Zafardanesh is a proper all-rounder and he shows that straightaway with a perfect ankle hold on a very unsuspecting Sachin Tanwar on the run. It's so tough to time any challenge on Sachin because of his exhilarating pace, but Zafardanesh did so with ease. He then carries on the confidence to the other end, picking up a bonus point as well.

Narender opens his account, spinning away from Sombir's advance tackle to open the Thalaivas' account for the night.

But Ajit Chauhan produces a Super Raid in his very first raid of the night, and U Mumba is flying! He gets the bonus under Nitesh Kumar's nose and the right-in goes for the ankle hold, but Ajit's momentum is too much for him to handle, with left cover Anuj also getting tagged on the way to the mid-line.
