AEW Dynamite Live Results (April 3, 2024): Mercedes Mone's first match announced, Bryan Danielson survives, Former WWE Champion appears, Shots taken at CM Punk

As Joe is walking to the back, Swerve starts laughing and says if that is what Joe has then he is becoming the new champion ay Dynasty. Swerve signs the contract with his own blood. Samoa Joe comes back in, hits a low blow and puts Swerve through a table to end the show,

Swerve Strickland vows to defeat Samoa Joe at Dynasty and calls him a b*tch. Brawl ensues and Swerve tries to choke Joe with the steel chain, but Joe gets out. Joe unloads on Swerve with the chain and walks away.

Strickland says he has always dreamt about the title opportunity. He brings up the roadblocks in his career and says that has brought him to Dynasty. Swerve says he understands the danger of facing Joe, but both are killers.

Joe says signing the contract is doom and destruction and a big mistake. Samoa Joe says he is going to badly beat up Swerve Strickland.

Tony Schiavone is overseeing things and Joe signs the contract first. Joe tells Tony to shut up. He then brings up Strickland's match against Hangman Page and his title opportunities.

Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland are out for the contract signing.

We see Penta challenging Adam Copeland for a TNT Title match for next week's Dynamite. Copeland's next challenger also revealed.

Thunder Rosa will face Toni Storm for her title at AEW Dynasty.

Towards the end, Thunder Rosa connects with the Tijuana Bomb to pick up the win over Mariah May.

Thunder Rosa wins

Thunder Rosa drives Mariah May down, but the latter connects with a knee strike. May Day is reversed and Rosa gets a two-count. May connects with a headbutt, but gets hit with a backstabber.

The two stars exchange strikes and Mariah May gets the upperhand. Thunder Rosa drops her with a German suplex and gets a two-count. May counters with a backdrop suplex of her own.

Thunder Rosa gets a two-count in the squared circle. After some back-and-forth, Mariah May makes her comeback and chokes Rosa on the ropes. She then kicks Rosa and applies the straitjacket.

Rosa connects with a hurricanrana and hits a running stomp on the ropes. Both stars battle on the apron before Rosa drops May with a hurricanrana on the floor. He then hits a diving crossbody into the barricades.

Mariah May vs. Thunder Rosa

Thunder Rosa unloads on Mariah May in the initial stages of the match. May turns things around and connects with a hip attack. She then follows up with a dropkick for a two-count.

Mariah May takes on Thunder Rosa next.

Post-match, Trent Beretta is upset but is cheered by the crowd and his mother. Best Friends look to hug each other, but Trent ends up attacking Orange Cassidy instead. HEEL TURN. Trent walks away to end the segment,

After some back-and-forth towards the end of the match, Matthew Jackson sends Trent Beretta to the exposed turnbuckle and get the pinfall win.

The Young Bucks win

Best Friends hug in the ring, but The Young Bucks come back with superkicks. Chuck Taylor also taken out. Matthew Jackson almost kicks Sue, but she slaps him instead.

The Bucks look to connect the EVP Trigger, but OC moves aside and causes a collision between the EVPs. OC gets a two-count on Nicholas shortly after. Trent Beretta comes in and Best Friends hits a modified TK Driver on Matthew. Nicholas breaks the count.

Nicholas exposes the turnbuckle, but Trent hits a back body drop and tags Cassidy in. Orange Cassidy unloads on The Bucks. They however regain control of the match.

Matthew Jackson stomps on Trent Beretta. At one point, Nicholas Jackson spits on Cassidy. The Young Bucks are in control.

Beretta fights back. The Young Bucks powerbomb Beretta and Orange Cassidy on the apron. Matthew drops OC on the outside. The Bucks isolate Trent in their corner.

The Young Bucks vs. Best Friends

Best Friends dominate Matthew Jackson in the initial stages of the match. Trent Beretta misses a splash and crashes onto the ropes. Nicholas Jackson is tagged in and he connects with suplexes.

The Young Bucks take on Best Friends next.

Mercedes Moné comes out and says she can't wait for Willow Nightingale to tear the house down with Julia Hart. Moné says she will face the winner in Las Vegas.

Willow says fan support made her what she is today and made her confident. Stokely Hathaway heaps praise on Willow Nightingale and says she impresses the world.

Renee Paquette introduces Willow Nightingale. She says she is extremely excited about her title match against Julia Hart. She then brings up her past in the city and recalls having Kris Statlander by her side.

We see an "earlier today" clip of The Young Bucks and Best Friends coming to the arena.

Billy Gunn wins via DQ

The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn almost put Jay White through a table, but The Gunns save him and the heels run away to end the segment.

Gunn brings a steel chair to the ring, but The Gunns stop him. Jay White hits a low blow on Billy Gunn and gets disqualified. Bang Bang Gang attack Gunn before The Acclaimed make the save.

At one point we see that The Acclaimed have been laid out backstage. The two men battle each other before falling down. Billy Gunn connects with a couple of Famea**ers.

Billy Gunn catches Jay White's fingers and attacks them on the barricades. Gunn then sends White crashing into the barricades. White dodges Gunn's lunge and he unloads with strikes and kicks.

Jay White is looking to run away from Billy Gunn and the latter sends him over the ropes to the floor. White asks for a timeout and wants to scissor Gunn on Dynamite.

The action spills to the outside and into the crowd. Billy Gun has dominated so far. He looks to drop White on the outside, but Jay sends him into the barricades.

Jay White vs. Billy Gunn

Billy Gunn attacks Jay White from behind during the entrance and continues to have the momentum in the early part of the match. The Gunns and The Acclaimed are seen watching from backstage.

Jay White comes out and gets attacked by Billy Gunn on the entrance ramp. Gunn's first singles match since October 2022.

Shane Taylor Promotions cut a promo and vow to defeat LionHook on Collision.

Jericho says when he plays at the highest levels, the rules are different before asking Hook to trust in him. Hook says he believes him and has a match set up for Collision. LionHook are in action on Collision.

Renee Paquette introduces Chris Jericho and he calls out Hook. Jericho brings up Hook accepting The Ocho's offer to be his mentor.

Towards the end of the match, Bryan Danielson connects with three roundhouse kicks and gets the win with the Busaikuu Knee.

Danielson stops Archer's offense and unloads with hammer and anvil strikes. Lance Archer connects with a knee strike. He goes for the Blackout, but Danielson applies a sleeper.

After some sustained offense, Bryan Danielson hits a dropkick form the ropes and follows up with some roundhouse kicks, but Lance Archer catches him and drops him with a chokeslam for a two-count.

Danielson with a couple of running kicks before applying the Labelle Lock in the middle of the ring. Archer puts his foot on the ropes to escape.

Danielson look to make a comeback, but Archer hits a big body press to take the BCC member down. Lance Archer looks for a move while walking on the ropes, but Danielson drops him.

The Murderhawk Monster continues to have the momentum with open-handed chops and some stomps. Bryan Danielson gets some strikes in, but Archer stops him.

Lance Archer connects with a chop and sends Bryan Danielson into the barricades. He then hits a cannonball and follows up with more chops.

Danielson hits a missile dropkick on Archer's knee, with it being wrapped in the ropes. Bryan Danielson looks for a tope on the outside but gets dropped with a chokeslam. He then bodyslams Danielson to regain the upperhand.

Danielson stops Archer's momentum with a dragon screw and follows up with kicks to the chest. The BCC member targets Archer's knee area and keeps him grounded.

Lance Archer vs. Bryan Danielson

Lance Archer comes in hot and unloads on Bryan Danielson in the initial stages of the match. Archer chokes Danielson with his boot and whips his opponent to the turnbuckles.

It is Lance Archer's return on AEW Dynamite since his match at the Homecoming edition.
