AEW Dynamite Live Results (December 20, 2023): Jon Moxley loses, Big return announced, The Devil appears, Massive upset

Jay White now joins Swerve Strickland and Jon Moxley in the semi-finals for the Gold League. Post-match, Strickland comes out and stands on the ramp. Jay White with a cheap shot on Moxley to end the show.

White hits the Kiwi Crusher for another close count. Moxley gets up and fires up a lariat. He hits another short arm lariat and follows up with a stomp.

Jon Moxley makes his comeback with a running knee strike and gets a nearfall. Moxley hits a cutter, but White drops him on his head. The BCG leader hits a uranage for a two-count.

Moxley somehow reaches the ring at 9-count and counters a Blade Runner into a Paradigm Shift for a two-count. Jay White again drops Mox, with a dragon screw this time.

White throws one chair away but attacks Mox with the other chair. The referee starts the 10-count.

Jon Moxley hits a dive to the outside but may have worsened his knee injury. Jay White makes his comeback and takes two chairs. The referee stops him.

Inside the ring, White continues to have the upperhand before Moxley makes his comeback with kicks in the corner. Both men are on the turnbuckles and Moxley drives his nails onto White's back. He bites Jay White's nose.

White stomps on Mox in the corner. The action spills to the outside and White places Mox on the barricades. He hits a chop and slams the BCC member on the barricades.

After a back-and-forth, Mox unloads on White in the corner. Jay White targets Moxley's injured knee and slams it onto the steel ring post.

Mox again applies the bulldog, but White rolls out of the ring. The action spills to the outside and White slams Moxley on the steel steps.

Jay White walks out of the ring early on. Jon Moxley applies the bulldog choke, but White gets out of it. Moxley hits a piledriver for a two-count.

We have the main event up next. Jay White takes on Jon Moxley.

We see Tony Khan bring out Jim Ross. It is Ross' AEW return.

Post-match, The Kingdom put up "MJF is The Devil" placards all around ringside. Roderick Strong claims MJF is the Devil and even Hangman Page said so. Strong wants Samoa Joe to trust him before it is too late.

Roderick Strong with an anti-air and follows up with the End of Heartache finisher to pick up the win over Komander.

Komander looks for a powerbomb from the turnbuckle but trips Strong instead. He connects with a phoenix splash for a two-count. Komander takes out The Kingdom and Strong.

After a back-and-forth, Komander trips Strong and gets a two-count after a crossbody. Roderick Strong overpowers Komander to the corner.

The action spills to the outside and Roderick Strong drops Komander hard on the apron. Inside the ring, Strong continues to dominate. He catches Komander and hits a backbreaker, followed by a powerslam.

Strong tries to unmask Komander before hitting a chop in the corner. Komander hits a chop of his own, but Strong keeps him down.

Strong connects with a running knee strike and follows up with a chop in the corner. Komander uses his agility and takes down Strong. He hits a dropkick, but Strong makes his comeback with a kick to the gut.

Both stars square off in the middle of the ring. Roderick Strong overpowers Komander before grounding his opponent.

Samoa Joe breaks up the heated confrontation as Mogul Embassy members re-enter their locker room to end the segment.

MJF says Strickland is not on his level and brings up him signing with WWE and MJF failing to do so. After some verbal back-and-forth, MJF accuses Strickland of being The Devil.

We see Samoa Joe and MJF continuing to have their differences. MJF sees a black cloth in front of Swerve's locker room and confronts Prince Nana. Swerve comes out and the duo speak about their past.

Tony Schiavone reads a statement from Christian Cage. We learn that Christian will make his return on Collision this week and respond to Adam Copeland's challenge. He expects a hero's welcome.

Post-match, Toni Storm is carried to the ring and she exchanges blows with Riho. Mariah May comes out and stops Riho with Storm's title.

Riho drops Saraya with the Northern Lights Suplex and gets a two-count. Towards the end, Riho connects with double knee strike to pick up the win over Saraya.

She applies a submission move in the ring and connects with a knee strike. Riho climbs to the top rope, but Saraya counters and gets a two-count.

Saraya continues to have the upperhand. She stomps on Riho and chokes her in the corner. Riho hits a crossbody and gets a two-count.

Riho hits three hurricanranas on the floor before Saraya slams her on the barricades. The Japanese star is struggling at ringside and Saraya slams her again.

Saraya stomps Riho in the initial stages of the match. Ruby Soho looks on from the backstage area. Riho charges at Saraya, but she walks out.

We see Best Friends and Rocky Romero in a backstage segment. Romero says he wants gold and OC accepts his challenge for Rampage.

The Devil appears on the screen and challenges for the ROH World Tag Team Championship next week. MJF and Joe accept.

MJF says Samoa Joe has never been attacked by The Devil and confronts the former WWE star. The two almost come to blows, but Devil's henchmen attack them.

MJF comes out to the ring. He brings up getting jumped by the Devil's henchmen. MJF brings up Joe saying he'll protect MJF from The Devil. MJF takes a shot at Joe's diet and his capability.

Joe suspects MJF of being The Devil.

Samoa Joe comes out to the ring. He takes the mic and introduces himself. He wants answers and says Roderick Strong might be right about The Devil's identity.

We see Wardlow in a creepy vignette and he warns MJF. He vows to expose MJF and wants repayment for his sins.

Post-match, both men show respect for one another. Mark Briscoe wins his first match in the C2. We see MJF getting inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier in the week.

Mark Briscoe retaliates with a fisherman buster for a two-count on Jay Lethal. Briscoe follows up with a DDT but misses the Froggy Bow. Lethal hits the Jay Driller, but only ONE count.

Lethal connects with an elbow drop, but only gets a two-count.

He then hits a dive to the outside with the help of a steel chair. Jay Lethal stops his momentum with a German Suplex.

Both men are on the turnbuckles and Lethal drops Briscoe. The latter knocks down Lethal and follows up with a diving drop kick through the ropes.

Briscoe tries to bring in the steel chair, but the referee stops him. Mark Briscoe and Jay Lethal exchange strikes before Lethal hits the Lethal Combination.

Lethal tries to bring in a steel chair, but the referee foils the attempt. Jay Lethal stuns Mark Briscoe, but the latter hits a chops and follows up with a brainbuster. He gets a couple of nearfalls.
