AEW Dynamite Live Results (January 17, 2024): The Young Bucks reference CM Punk incident, former WWE star debuts, Samoa Joe defeats top star

Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page have a staredown. Page looks after Hook as he walks out of the ring to end the show.

Post-match, Hook stands up to Samoa Joe. But Joe comes back and hits a Muscle Buster. Hook gets up again. Hangman Page comes out for the save. Swerve Strickland watches on.

Hook fires back and drops Joe with the T-Bone suplex. Hook goes for the RedRum, but Samoa Joe turns things around for the Coquina Clutch. Hook passes out.

Samoa Joe hits the Muscle Buster, but Hook KICKS OUT at ONE!!

Hook enters the ring at 9-count. Samoa Joe hits a powerslam for a two-count and follows up with a death valley driver for another two-count.

Hook flips off Joe and it p*sses off the champion. Joe hits a big powerbomb on the apron. Officials check in on Hook.

Samoa Joe spikes Hook on top of the announce table. Hook is in trouble.

Hook looks for a T-Bone suplex, but Joe stops him. Hook hits a running elbow strike and follows up with a running right-hand strike.

Joe slows things down and hits some kicks followed by chops. He hits an elbow drop and gets a two-count.

Samoa Joe (c) vs. HOOK - AEW World Championship Match

HOOK charges at Samoa Joe and the action spills to the outside. Joe tries to fight back and shuts him down with an elbow strike.

HOOK comes out first for the main event. Followed by Samoa Joe.

Isiah Kassidy is fired up, but eats a boot to the face. Private Party connects with the Jin and Juice on Dante. They then get the pin over Darius with some help from the ropes.

Quen hits a 450-splash on Dante Martin for a two-count. Top Flight hit a combination move for a nearfall. Quen dropkicks Darius before Dante hits a knee strike.

Marq Quen comes in and he hits some big dives on both members of Top Flight.

Quen has Dante Marin rattled and cornered. Darius Martin drops both members of the Private Party with a DDT. Dante Martin pummels Kassidy.

Isiah Kassidy and Darius Martin have a back-and-forth early on. Marq Quen and Dante Martin come in. We have a standoff.

Marq Quen returns to in-ring action.

Purrazzo looks angry and chases Storm, Mariah May and Luther away to end the segment.

Post-match, Deonna says Toni Storm has changed ever since she joined AEW. Storm takes the mic and runs down Deonna before throwing a shoe at her.

Towards the end, Deonna Purrazzo applies the Fujiwara Armbar to get the submission victory.

Deonna counters the QueenSlayer and applies a Juji-Gatame. But Anna reaches the bottom ropes.

Deonna Purrazzo fights back and gets a two-count. Anna Jay kicks her and follows up with a backstabber for a two-count.

Anna Jay hits a snap suplex and gets another two-count. She stomps on Deonna's hand. Jay is wearing down Deonna.

Anna dodges Deonna and drops her on the mat. Jay slams Purrazzo on the turnbuckles and chokes her with her boot. Anna slams Deonna on the mat and gets a two-count.

The two stars have a back-and-forth early on. Deonna Purrazzo targets Anna Jay's shoulder.

Deonna Purrazzo makes her in-ring AEW Dynamite after signing with the promotion.

Adam Cole hypes up Wardlow in a backstage segment.

Anthony Bowens takes out Prince Nana and Jay White takes advantage with the Blade Runner for the win.

Bullet Club Gold become new ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions

Mogul Embassy turns things around. After some back-and-forth, Kaun spikes White after some distraction from Prince Nana and gets a two-count.

Bishop Kaun comes in and gets a one-count. White hits a dragon screw before Austin Gunn unloads on Kaun.

Jay White and Toa Liona start the match. Liona overpowers White in the initial stages.

Bullet Club Gold come with a new theme song.

The Bucks say AEW was different earlier before they began leaning on "superficial" stars of yesteryears. They briefly praise Sting before vowing to put him and his like out of business.

The Young Bucks appear for a sit-down interview. Matthew Jackson speaks about the CM Punk rumors and say most of it is false. He adds he will do it again to protect their baby.

Mark Briscoe comes out for a tribute to Jay Briscoe. He brings up the tragic event last year. The Briscoe Family stand with him and the crowd give them a standing ovation.

Hangman Page appears in a backstage segment and puts his name forward for the world title. He puts both Samoa Joe and HOOK on notice!!

Strong says he is coming after OC's title. Orange Cassidy accepts the challenge for right now. But Strong declines. He instead challenges OC for a match at Revolution.

Post-match, The Undisputed Kingdom surround Best Friends. Roderick Strong confronts Cassidy and tells him to remove his glasses.

Komander misses a Phoenix splash and Trent hits a running knee. OC connects with the Beach Break on Penta. He hits the Orange Punch on Komander and Trent gets the win with a piledriver.

Komander traps Trent in an inside cradle, but the latter breaks free. Penta hits a Canadian Destroyer on Trent. Komander hits his rope walk move, but OC breaks the three-count.

Komander takes out Trent Beretta on the outside. Penta hits the Made In Japan on Orange Cassidy for a nearfall. Trent trips Komander on the turnbuckles and Cassidy drops Penta with a DDT.

Cassidy does his trademark offense before tagging in Trent Beretta. Komander fights back and Trent has a tough landing on the floor.

Trent comes in. The action spills to the outside and Trent is in total control. Trent and Cassidy double teams Komander and get a two-count. OC finally reaches his pockets.

Both stars exchange arm drags before things break down. Trent Beretta hits a half-and-half suplex on Komander. OC gets a two-count.

Orange Cassidy and Penta start the match. Penta shoves OC. The latter looks to put his hands in his pockets, but Penta stops him.

Chris Jericho comments on him and Sammy Guevara losing the tag titles. He puts Don Callis Family on notice and vows to destroy Konosuke Takeshita.
Matt Sydal comes in and challenges Jericho for a match. It is announced for Rampage.

Swerve Strickland appears in a backstage segment and talks about him coming after the AEW World Championship. He then says Hangman Page can beat anyone, but him.

Christian Cage connects with a spear and follows up with the Killswitch for a two-count. He hits another Killswitch for the win over Dustin Rhodes.

After some shenanigans, Rhodes connects with the Cross Rhodes for a CLOSE two-count. Rhodes takes out Wayne with a Destroyer.

After some brief action, Dustin Rhodes traps Christian Cage in an inside cradle, but Nick Wayne turns things around in Cage's favor. Close count for the champion.
