AEW Dynamite Live Results (September 6, 2023): Jon Moxley's first title defence, top star walks out, former WWE Superstar attacks MJF

After a back-and-forth, Darby Allin hits the Code Red for a two-count. Allin picks up the win by stomping his protege on AEW Dynamite.

DARBY ALLIN wins

Nick Wayne hits a frog splash on the floor and follows up with Wayne's World for a two-count. The two are on the turnbuckles and Darby drops Wayne on the mat. Allin hesitates to hit the Coffin Drop and pins Wayne instead. He gets a two-count. Nick Wayne hits the Last Supper for a two-count.

Wayne chops Allin, but the latter responds with a kick. Nick Wayne stops Allin's momentum and gets a series of nearfalls. Both men are on the apron and Wayne hits a hurricanrana on the floor.

Nick Wayne thrust kicks Darby and the latter barely kicks out. Christian Cage makes his way to the commentary table. Wayne hits a dive to the outside and falls on the back of Allin's head.

After a back-and-forth, both stars take each other down with diving crossbodies. Allin and Wayne exchange strikes before Allin takes the mic and says Wayne hits like an 18-year-old.

Nick Wayne goes for the frog splash, but Allin stops his momentum. Allin hits a shotgun dropkick and gets a two-count shortly after.

Darby Allin re-enters the ring. Wayne whips Allin, but the latter gets his boots up. Nick Wayne hits a superplex and follows up with a fisherman buster for a two-count.

Both men look to get the upperhand in the initial stages of the match. Allin applies a side headlock before Nick Wayne regroups on the outside. Allin goes for a dive, but crashes on the barricades.

We have the main event up next as Darby Allin takes on Nick Wayne.

Hangman Page says he is done with this sh*t before walking to the back. Swerve Strickland says Page's family is going to be disappointed in seeing him walk out. Page walks back to the ring, but gets attacked by Brian Cage.

Swerve Strickland tells Hangman Page to either move out of his way...or...find his motivation back. Strickland challenges Page to a match and says he'll walk Page like a dog.

Swerve says two-weeks in the coffin gave him clearity. Swerve Strickland takes shots at Hangman Page for doing charity, instead of going after world championships. Swerve says Page hasn't been in in-ring gear for over a year before adding The Cowboy has gotten comfortable.

Tony Schiavone congratulates Hangman Page for the battle royale victory. Page says he is looking to the future before getting interrupted by Prince Nana and Swerve Strickland.

Hangman Page is out next to speak on AEW Dynamite.

Toni Storm is in a backstage segment and says she doesn't recall costing Ruby Soho the TBS Championship at All Out. Storm cuts a strange promo before throwing a shoe at Renee Paquette.

Roderick Strong hits the jumping knee strike and follows up with a backbreaker to get the pinfall victory.

Both men are up on the turnbuckles. Trent hits a hurricanrana, but Strong looks to apply the Strong Hold. Beretta rolls up and after a back-and-forth, Trent gets a two-count with a piledriver.

Trent Beretta comes in with German Suplexes and follows up with Death Valley Driver for a two-count. Roderick Strong hits the sick kick and gets a two-count.

Strong hits a backbreaker for a one-count. The former WWE star stomps on Trent in the corner before the latter looks to retaliate with chops. Strong overpowers Trent.

Strong hits a backbreaker before Trent drops him on the mat. Trent Beretta comes in with an elbow strike and follows up with a DDT. Roderick Strong regroups at ringside, but he was playing possum. Strong shoves Trent on the post before dropping him on the apron to get the upperhand.

Roderick Strong takes down Trent Beretta in the initial stages of the match. Strong looks to apply the Stong Hold, but Beretta reverses it. Trent hits a knee strike before Strong chops him.

MJF re-injures his neck/shoulder and is helped to the back by medical officials. Roderick Strong and The Kingdom walk out and confronts Adam Cole.

MJF looks to walk out, but Samoa Joe attacks him. MJF makes him comeback with a low blow and some offense. But Joe stopped the momentum and looks to hit the Muscle Buster. Adam Cole runs in for the save.

MJF tells Samoa Joe to stay out of his way, otherwise he'll kill Joe. Joe says he thought MJF was a little b*tch when he shoved him. MJF slaps Joe, but the latter doesn't take the bait. Samoa Joe says he'll be in the tournament and will win the whole thing.

MJF then recalls Samoa Joe shoving him during an entrance back in WWE, when MJF worked as an extra. MJF says Joe did it because he knew he could get away with it. MJF hypes himself up and brings up main eventing All In.

MJF recalls having a tryout in WWE. He says William Regal pulled him to the side and said MJF was too young . Loud "He f*cked up" chants. MJF says he sent Regal back to NXT.

MJF calls Samoa Joe some names like Pillsbury Joe and more. Joe says MJF is stupid and asks MJF's problem once again. The Devil confronts Samoa Joe. MJF says Joe is looking to skip the line for the world title, but he won't get the opportunity.

Joe wants to MJF to discuss his problems face-to-face before calling him for a kid. MJF takes shots at Joe before The Samoan Submission Machine asks once again what's the problem.

MJF says he'll be competing at Grand Slam before saying no one is on the level of The Devil. MJF then puts his focus on Samoa Joe. Joe comes out.

MJF comes down the ring and hypes up the crowd. MJF brings up the fact that he stayed in Indiana when he was on the independent circuit.

Don Callis is in a backstage segment says there will be a celebration next. Also, Konosuke Takeshita's next target to be revealed.

We see a video package from Ricky Starks highlighting his war against Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out.

Post-match, Jericho and Sammy get in a confrontation before throwing hands. Sammy Guevara walks out on Chris Jericho.

Chris Jericho takes down Sammy Guevara after a miscommunication, but he connects with the Judas Effect on Kyle Fletcher for the victory.

Aussie Open connect with the Aussie Arrow for a two-count. Guevara hits a Spanish Fly on Davis before Jericho looks to apply the Walls of Jericho on Fletcher, but fails. Kyle Fletcher gets a two-count after a brainbuster.

Chris Jericho sends Kyle Fletcher to the outside and Sammy Guevara hits a dive to on both Aussie Open members. The action spills to the outside and Aussie Open sandwich both of the their opponents.

Aussie Open wear down Guevara and isolate him. The Spanish God tags in Chris Jericho and unloads on Aussie Open. At one point, Aussie Open look to finish off Jericho, but Sammy takes Davis out. Jericho gets a two-count after a codebreaker.

Jericho deliver some right hand strikes on Fletcher and face plants him on the mat. Sammy Guevara stomps on Fletcher before getting slammed by Davis on the outside.

After a back-and-forth, Sammy stomps on Kyle and tags in Chris Jericho. Jericho and Sammy hit a delayed vertical suplex on Kyle Fletcher.

The two take down Davis and pose in the ring. Mark Davis double clotheslines Jericho and Guevara and follows up with a snake eyes. Kyle Fletcher is tagged in. He exchanges chops with Sammy.

Mark Davis and Chris Jericho start for the respective teams. Davis takes down Jericho and follows up with a chop. Jericho gets in a few strikes and tags in Sammy Guevara.

We see Roderick Strong and The Kingdom in a backstage video. Strong brings up his tough past and says Adam Cole knows that. Strong vows to win later tonight on AEW Dynamite.

After a back-and-forth, Emi Sakura connects with a double undertook backbreaker and gets a two-count. Kris Statlander catches Sakura and drives her face first on the mat. She follows up with the discus lariat. Statlander hits the Wednesday Night Fever to retain her title.

The two stars exchange strikes before Sakura takes down Kris with a lariat. Both women take each other down with lariats.

Emi Sakura dodges Kris Statlander's lunge and gets a roll up for a two-count. Sakura hits a crossbody, driving Kris hard on the floor. She then hits another crossbody on the steel steps for another two-count.

Post-match, DARBY ALLIN checks in on AR Fox. Nick Wayne is watching from the large screen and Christian Cage confronts him. He calls Wayne's father even worse than he thought and says Nick Wayne should look for a new mentor. Cage also says hi to Nick Wayne's mother.

AR Fox hits a 450-splash for a two-count on the champion. Jon Moxley applies a double wrist lock and follows up with hammer and anvil strikes. After a brief period, Mox hits the King Kong Lariat and follows up with the Death Rider to retain his title.

Fox responds with an enziguiri before hitting a cutter on Moxley. He looks for a splash, but Moxley catches him. AR Fox gets out and connects with a cutter. Fox hits the moonsault from the apron on the outside.

Jon Moxley targets AR Fox's knees and slams him inside the ring. The AEW International Champion has Fox locked in a submission move before bitting his finger. Mox takes down Fox and poses for the crowd.
