It was a great day for India on the golf course on the first day. Anirban Lahiri overcame a shaky start to post a solid first-round score of 4-under 67. He is now ranked eighth. Making his second Olympic appearance, the veteran golfer dropped bogey before finding the stride with a run of four birdies over five holes making the run in 33.

Meanwhile, countryman Udayan Mane shot a 76 to end the day in the 60th position.
