Wavered performance from the Indian trio of Ankita Bhakat, Bhajan Kaur and Deepika Kumari as they go down to the Netherlands in straight sets 6-0.

Deepika and Ankita were particularly shaky, failing to find the golden area of the area consistently. A couple in the blue and the black zone even sealed their fate against a consistent Dutch side. Bhajan Kaur was the silver lining, shooting a couple of Xs and keeping the team in contention and will look to carry the momentum into the Individual competition.

All three Indian archers will be in action in the Individual rounds, so make sure you are there to help them bounce back from the disappointment.

Ankita never looked her best self as she began with another wavered 4. Bhajan and Deepika followed with a 10 and 8, Two eights and a 10 followed for India, but it was never going to be good enough against an ultra-focussed opponent.

The Netherlands, having raced ahead with three near-perfect arrows, sealed the win.

Heartbreak for India as they come up short in the women's recurve team event, bowing out in the quarterfinals.

A much better start from Ankita for a perfect X followed by another 10 from Bhajan. Deepika dropped outside the gold for an 8. Ankita and Deepika were loose on their second arrow, shooting poor 6s, but Bhajan kept her composure.

The Netherlands failed to breach the inner circle in their first round, but a strong finish from them see them double their.

Shaky start for India as both Ankita and Deepika miss the golden area to fall in 7s in their first arrows. Bhajan Kaur's 10 gave us hope, but three nines from all Indian archers in the second round were not good enough.

The Netherlands were incredibly consistent hitting 9 in all but two arrows to edge India by just one point.

India has been a force to reckon with in recurve archery for quite a few years now, with the likes of Deepika Kumari, Tarundeep Rai, Bombalya Laishram Devi, Dola Banerjee and Atanu Das bringing in laurels on international stage. An Olympic medal has eluded them and the archers will be determined to change that.

India’s Deepika Kumari is a four-time Olympian and has come close to a podium finish in the past. That said, the chances of India winning a medal are the best at this year’s Olympics — with only two wins ensuring that the women's recurve team stand on the podium.
