It's another heartbreak story for Deepika Kumari as she bows out of the tournament in the quarter-finals. She had that game in the bag after taking an early lead before gifting the second set to her opponent with a costly six. She held her nerve to take the third set before repeating a similar error, dropping a 7 in the fourth set to allow Suhyeon Nam back in the game. Like most Korean archers, the 19-year old did what she does best and showed nerves of steel under pressure to continue her stellar run on her debut Olympics.

Deepika Kumari (IND) 4 - 6 Suhyeon Nam (KOR): Suhyeon Nam takes it! Deepika Kumari crashes out.
It's a wry smile for Deepika Kumari as she crashes out in the quarter-finals. It was a dramatic encounter throughout but it was the 19-year old who held her nerve in the end, coming in clutch to seal it with a 10, 9, 10 to defeat the Indian, who shot all 9's in the final set.

Deepika Kumari (IND) 4 - 4 Suhyeon Nam (KOR): The inconsistency costs Deepika on that occasion! Suhyeon Ham is right back in this contest, 10, 9 and 10 in the fourth set. Deepika started off with a 10 as well, before shooting a 7 that was sandwiched between her two 10's. Final set, it's all to play for!

Deepika Kumari (IND) 4 - 2 Suhyeon Nam (KOR): Deepika Kumari has got ice in her veins! Both archers started off with a 10 and 9 in their first two shots before Nam finished her set with a 9. With a chance to steal the set, Kumari made no mistake and shot a 10 to take the lead again! The Indian is taking a long time before shooting her shot though, almost letting the clock run down on most occasions.

Deepika Kumari (IND) 2 - 2 Suhyeon Nam (KOR): A loose 6 proves costly for Kumari as Nam levels things up! Nam got off to a confident start in the second set, not showing any signs of nerves despite losing the first set. She shot a solid 10, 9 and 10. Kumari, on the other hand, went 10, 6 and 9, gifting the set to her opponent with that loose shot.

Bhajan Kaur gets eliminated with a loose arrow in the shoot-off. The Indonesian Diananda Choirunisa gave Bhajan a golden opportunity with a 9-arrow which was 96.1 cm away from the center but Bhajan could not handle the pressure and ended up shooting an 8.
Final scores : 28-29, 27-25, 26-28-, 28-28, 27-26 (Choirunisa wins in shoot-off)
Bhajan Kaur (9,8, 10) 5-5 (9, 8, 9) Diananda Choirunisa : Bhajan forces the shoot-off with a remarkable comeback. A loose arrow with an 8 on the second attempt opened the door for Choirunisa but she paid back the favor with an 8 of herself. Kaur then responded with a clutch 10 and Indonesian only managed a 9.
Bhajan Kaur (9,10, 9) 3-5 (9, 10, 9) Diananda Choirunisa : Scores level at 28-all in the fourth set. The Indonesian needed a 10 off the final arrow to seal the match but she got a 9 and Bhajan survives. Now, it is a must-win set for Bhajan Kaur coming up.
Bhajan Kaur (9, 8, 9) 2-4 (9, 10, 9) Diananda Choirunisa : An average set from Bhajan while her Indonesian opponent was much more consistent and takes the third set 28-26. It is moving into do-or-die territory for Bhajan Kaur.
Bhajan Kaur (8,9, 10) 2-2 (9, 9, 8) Diananda Choirunisa : Bhajan levels the scores and takes the second set 27-26. She kept improving her score with each arrow and Diananda had to score a 10 of the las arrow to take the set but she ended up going into the red with an 8 and conceded the set to Bhajan.
Bhajan Kaur (8,10, 10) 0-2 (10, 9, 10) Diananda Choirunisa : A set of high-class archery from both the archers but it is the Indonesian who wins it 29-28. Even though Bhajan got two 10s, her first shot of 8 was the one which ended up costing her the set, the Indonesian did not move from the golden zone.
Deepika Kumari (8,10, 9) 6-4 (9, 9, 9) Michelle Kroppen : Deepika moves into the Quarterfinals. All she needed was a solitary point from the set and that is exactly what she managed. Consistent 9s from Kroppen saw her getting 27 and Deepika matched that too to tie the set.
Deepika Kumari (8,10, 9) 5-3 (9, 10, 10) Michelle Kroppen : Kroppen fights back and takes then fourth set 29-27. Best set for Kroppen so far in the match and she manages two 10s in it despite not getting any in the match so far. Is she peaking at the right time? Remember, a tie will take us into a tiebreak
Deepika Kumari (7,10, 9) 5-1 (7, 9, 9) Michelle Kroppen : Deepika takes the third set 26-25 and now she is just 1 set point away from winning this contest. Both the archers started with a loose 7 but then it was Deepika's second arrow right on the center of the target which proved to be the difference.
Deepika Kumari (10, 8, 9) 3-1 (9, 9, 9) Michelle Kroppen : The second set is tied at with both the archers scoring 27. Deepika started the set with the first 10 of the contest but then went into the red with an 8 in the next arrow before finishing with a 9. Kroppen, on the other hand, was consistent with 9s throughout.
Deepika Kumari (9, 9, 9) 2-0 (6, 9, 9) Michelle Kroppen : Deepika takes the first set 27-24. A loose first arrow from Michelle who shot first was the difference between the two archers as all the other arrows were in the 9 range.
Right then, it is time now. Both the archers are out in the arena and and now they along with their respective coaches are being introduced to the crowd. It should be a good one this! Deepika is on Target Number 2 while her German opponent is at Target Number 1. Remember, there are 5 sets in total in which each archer will get 3 arrows each with a set victory giving 2 points.

After a heartbreaking finish for Manu Bhaker, the onus is now on the female archers who are all set to put their best foot forward at The Invaildes. Veteran Deepika Kumari will be in action first against German archer Michelle Kroppen in a match starting a 1:52 PM IST. Following the match immediately, will be the 18-year old Bhajan Kaur who will be taking on Diananda Choirunisa from Indonesia. Both the Indian archers will look to book their place in the Quarterfinals and then hopefully proceed to the medal rounds later in the day.
