So, it was a sad end to the campaign for Parul Chaudhary and Jeswin Aldrin. The runner from Uttar Pradesh failed to qualify for the 3000m as well as the 5000m event, while Aldrin missed out on qualification after finishing 13th in his group, with a score of 7.61. Jeswin Aldrin scores 7.61, fails to qualify

In his final attempt, Jeswin Aldrin manages to get in a score of 7.61. As it stands, it won't be good enough for him to qualify though as he ranks in 13th place in Group B.

It's another failed attempt from Jeswin Aldrin. Now, the pressure is well and truly on him, not only having to register a genuine attempt in his final one but also to do enough to qualify. Meanwhile, Radek Juska of Czech Republic becomes the second jumper to confirm his qualification.

Meanwhile, Greece's Miltiadis Tentoglou has already secure a Q beside his name after scoring a 8.32. He's the best in the world for a reason. He's the only athlete to confirm his qualification so far.

Aldrin fails on his first attempt

Up next, Jeswin Aldrin! Oh, dear me. He commits a foul on his first attempt. That will count as a failed attempt. He's still got a couple of attempts to go though. He went over board by a slight margin.

Right then. Group A is underway for the men's long jump qualification. Remember, all athletes meeting the Qualification Standard or at least 12 best performers advance to final. Usually, a 8.15 ensures qualification.

Jeswin Aldrin is representing India at the men's long jump event that is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM. He is part of Qualification Group B though, so there might be a little wait before we see him in action.

The top five athletes go through to the next round. It was a photo finish that went down to the wire. Despite getting a season best time of 9:23:29, Parul Chaudhary doesn't make it to the top five. So, that completes the first bit of action for Indians. After missing out on the 5000m event a couple of days ago, there is no redemption for Parul Chaudhary as she drops out of the 3000m event as well. Needless to say, she's going to be disappointed with that performance, ending in 8th place.

Parul Chaudhary fails to qualify

Unfortunate for the Indian as she fails to finish in the top five. That was a thrilling finish to the race with very little separating the top six. The world champions, Peruth Chemutai finishes first with Faith Cheotich pushing hard to finish second. It's utter disappointment for Marwa Bouzayani as she finishes out of the top five, despite getting her personal best.

Peruth Chemutai remains at one but she's followed by Courtney Wayment and Marwa Bouzayani now. Faith Cherotich and Lomi Muleta aren't too far behind and neither is Gesa Felicitas Krause. This is a really tight top six in the last lap.

Parul Chaudhary struggling at 3rd last

Three laps to go now and it's been a struggle for Parul Chaudhary. She's got to up the pace and how if she wants to break into the top five. The gap is huge with two and a half laps to go.

The gap between the top three and the rest is growing significantly wider. Peruth Chemutai, Faith Cherotich and Lomi Muleta are the top three.

With 5 laps to go, Peruth Chemutai and Faith Cherotich lead the pack with a comfortable lead. Bright sunshine breaks through on the ground as Parul Chaudhary makes her first move and goes up a rank.

It's a slow start from Chaudhary

After 800 metres, Parul Chaudhary stands at fourth from last. She's got off to a steady start, not forcing the issue just yet.

It's a standing start as the clap goes off. There will be 28 hurdles and 7 water jumps throughout the 3000m. It is the 400m track, which means there will be approximately 7.5 laps.

Rank 16th in the world, Parul Chaudhary is in the first heat for the event. Kenya's Faith Cherotich is also part of that heat and will start as the favourite.
