Mali were the better side in the first half as Brazil looked extremely shaky in the opening 45 minutes. Brazil seem to have used that break time pep talk to their advantage, as in the second half they looked a completely different and motivated side. Brazil were rewarded at the end as Koita made a mess of a simple shot as the Ball ended up in the back of the net from Alan. Brazil doubled their lead later in the second half as Yuri Alberto fired in a shot from closed range to make it 2-0 to the Selecao. Mali, on the contrast looked better but did not have the finishing touch to find the back of the net and hence were punished. Mali tried to get back into the game with several long distance attempts, but to of no use as the South Americans claim the third place.
