The Mariners won their previous match against Pathachakra with a narrow one-goal margin thanks to Henru Kisekka's goal in 76th minute.

Shilton Pual was good as usual in the goal, producing some crucial saves, but there were many opportunities missed by Mohun Bagan up front. Luckily, the 29-time Calcutta Football League winners managed to bag the three points. However, the players will be wary of their performance and know they need to put on a better show this time around.

If it was not for Somdeep's blunderous miss in the dying minutes of the match, they would have gotten just one point on the board.

On the other hand, their opponents, Rainbow AC, are sitting handsomely on the top of the table with all three points and a goal difference of +3 after a comprehensive 3-0 win over George Telegraph in the opening match. This will be their first real test after procuring some good overseas players.
