Devon Conway was unbeaten on 77, smashing 12 fours and a six to anchor the mediocre chase. Earlier in the game, Ravindra Jadeja registered figures of 3/22 to restrict the visitors for 134/7. The weekend setter is done but there's still plenty of action to come tomorrow and the day after with a couple of double-headers lined up. Lucknow Super Giants will have a chance to move to the top of the table when they come up against the defending champions, who will be looking to get back on track and could be level on 8 points with the rest of the top three. After that, it's the Mumbai Indians back at the Wankhede, taking on the Punjab Kings in a mid-table clash that will have plenty riding on it.

Right then. It's a three-way tie at 8 points at the top of the table now with the Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Chennai Super Kings all level on points. The points table is cramped up alright this season and unfortunately for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, they're on the wrong end of it with only a couple of wins under their belt and will need to turn things around quickly.

Like a teacher schooling his students, a bunch of young SRH players surrounded MS Dhoni before the presentations, trying to soak in as much wisdom as they could. That's the effect he has on people. We practice every day. On the practice surfaces, some balls hold up and some don't. So, I had that in mind. MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings): Whatever is said and done. It's the last phase of my career. It's important to enjoy it. It feels good to play here. We haven't played in Chennai a lot. They have given a lot of love and affection. Not getting enough chances to bat, but I'm not complaining. The team is doing well and it's good to be here. (Pathirana) He has the skillset. He is very difficult. You need time to pick his action. He has got variations and good pace. We have seen with Malinga, someone with that kind of action who can hit the lines and lengths consistently becomes very difficult to deal with. I was quite hesitant to bat second because I had that feeling it was cloudy and dew might not come in. So, I was seeing around to what was happening. The spinners bowled very good lengths and it was gripping a bit. The middle overs were the set up and the fast bowlers did really well in the last 3-4 overs. Pathirana, especially, bowled really well. (Message to bowlers) The first preference of the field is with you. You may convey that to me. If it's a batter who plays the scoop shot or plays around the park, then I help the bowlers out. With Bravo, it was difficult because he would never agree but with the youngsters it's a lot easier. (Reflexes with the gloves) Still, they didn't give me the best catch. I was in the wrong position. I felt like it was a fantastic catch. A long time back, I still remember Rahul Dravid bhai was keeping and he took a similar catch. With your skillset, when you're in a wrong position to take a catch like that, you have to adjust. (His cricket) When you're old, you have to enjoy it, unless you're like Sachin paaji. He can keep playing forever.

Devon Conway: It was nice just to be there at the end and get the win. (Batting plan) The plan for us was pretty simple. It doesn't change too much regardless of the game. We try to play good cricket shots and make the most of the powerplay. (Pitch) We certainly got the best of the conditions. It didn't hold as much as it did in the first innings. It wasn't the easiest, but we got better of the conditions. The pitch we experienced in Bangalore was a lot better than this. We were just playing what was in front of us. We didn't have to be too reckless and keep in mind the score we are chasing.

Aiden Markram, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain: (On the game) Disappointed again, never nice to lose. We let ourselves down with the bat. We could not build partnerships of any substance and we struggled to put on a good total. (On the pitch) We certainly said it was not a 130-odd wicket. It was along the lines of 160. Partnerships were not there and it was tough to get momentum. They bowled really well in the middle overs, built pressure and did not give anything away. We knew they (spinners) would play a big role, it was about having your own plans. It was about situations on when to take them down or rotate the strike. (On the powerplay) It is about guys expressing themselves, sticking to their strengths and taking them on. Ultimately, we need guys to take on the powerplay for us. We have to look and see how we can get better with the bat. We are going to have to put our hands up as batters and hopefully we can get a win in the next game.

It might have taken a tad longer than the team would have liked but the Chennai Super Kings have crossed the finish line without much of a fuss. It was their bowlers that did the trick on what seemed like a slightly tricky surface, and the batting from the Sunrisers Hyderabad left a bit to be desired too. The hosts won't be complaining though.

Their bowlers were fabulous throughout the 20 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja leading the way in the middle overs to squeeze the life out of this SRH batting unit. In reply, Gaikwad and Conway do what they so often do - laying the platform for their team at the top of the order. The Kiwi was the aggressor in the partnership and held his bat till the end to make sure the team get across the finish line with a sense of authority.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad did their best to try and take this game as deep as possible but they were always fighting a lost cause. Mayank Markande was their best bowler on a day that didn't have too many positives, but the rest of the team will need to dust themselves off, buck up and get back on track after a result like this.
