The semis for both events are scheduled to take place later today, beginning at around 3.30 PM

If you're just tuning in, we've been covering action at the Optus Aquatic Centre where two Indian swimmers have made it from the HEATS into the SEMIFINALS

Virdhawal Khade with a time of 24.52 secs is through to the semis of the MEN's 50m BUTTERFLY
Srihari Nataraj with a time of 56.71 secs is through to the semis of the MEN's 100m BACKSTROKE

And the final HEAT from the Men's 50m Butterfly features the sensational Chad Le Clos from South Africa who had a brilliant Rio Olympics. He's one of the favourites here for the gold.

Personal Best?

Khade actually performed close to his personal best. His time of 24.52 secs was not far off from his personal best of 24.50 secs

Prakash however was well below his personal best mark of 24.91 secs

Just look at those blistering times at the top...

You actually feel for the two Indian swimmers here... there were some heats with much slower times posted amongst the top 3. A bit of bad luck that they both featured in this very fast HEAT.

The interesting thing here is that both the Indians are in fact going to be in the same Heat - Heat number 5.
That's a touch unfortunate.

The 50m Butterfly is where we will be heading first, the event is scheduled to begin in just about 10 minutes from now

First up, in about 20 minutes from now, we will have the Men's 50m Backstroke Heats.

There are two Indians in the fray here - 24-year-old Sajan Prakash from Kerala and 26-year-old Virdhawal Khade from Maharashtra
