Chris Wilder signs new long-term contract with Sheffield United

Chris Wilder has signed a new four-and-a-half-year deal with Sheffield United with an option for an additional year, the Premier League outfit confirmed on Friday. Speaking ahead of their Premier League encounter with West Ham United, Wilder said: "Naturally, I'm delighted to sign a new deal until 2024 and commit to the club that is close to my heart. I am grateful to Prince Abdullah for taking the initiative and offering this contract, we've had a great few years and hopefully, we can continue the upward curve - let's see how far we can go on this journey."

Frank Lampard clarifies Chelsea's stance on Olivier Giroud's future

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has stated that Olivier Giroud will only be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge if it is the right move for the club. The Frenchman, whose contract with the Blues expires this summer, is understood to be keen on a move to Inter Milan this January after starting only three matches in all competitions this season.
Speaking about the former Arsenal man's future in west London, Lampard said, "With Oli, the situation is: if it is right for everybody, first and foremost that's us the club because he is under contract, then we will look at whether he will leave. I hold him in high regard... but I still have to make a decision for the football club and nothing is done yet. I think his agent has spoken to the club but until we decide it is the right thing then it is not done."

Huddersfield Town signs Arsenal's Emile Smith-Rowe on loan

Huddersfield Town have signed Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe on loan until the end of the season, the club confirmed on Friday. The 19-year-old, who has made six appearances for the Gunners this season, could make his debut for the Terriers in their Championship game against Barnsley on Saturday.
Speaking of the signing, Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley said, "We're delighted to complete the loan move to bring Emile to the Club today, as it’s the culmination of an ongoing process that began in early November. Emile will give us the creative link that we’ve been missing. He can play in a range of attacking positions and he can speed up our play. We’re really looking forward to working with him."

Frank Lampard addresses Moussa Dembele rumours

Frank Lampard has played down Chelsea's links to Lyon striker Moussa Dembele and has claimed that no transfers are close for the club in the January transfer window. The Frenchman was believed to be a potential target for the Blues this winter but Lampard has now dismissed all speculation saying (via Metro), "He is a player I know and the club know. I am surprised to see his name pop up so regularly when it is not popping up so regularly in my conversations to be brutally honest."
"I don't want to go cut and dry on anybody [regarding Dembele], as I said to you, it is not one I am openly talking about. If it is a decision then I will be a big part of that decision."

Olivier Giroud agrees terms with Inter Milan

Inter Milan have held talks with Olivier Giroud's agents and have agreed to terms for a January switch, Sky in Italy are reporting. According to the publication, the Frenchman has agreed on a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Serie A giants but they are yet to reach an agreement with Chelsea, who are asking for a fee between £6.8 million (€8m) and £8.5 million (€10m) for the striker. Giroud, whose contract at the west London club expires this summer, is also believed to have offers from Lyon on the table.

Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon begin talks over Bruno Fernandes transfer

According to reports in Portugal, Manchester United and Sporting Lisbon have opened talks over the transfer of Bruno Fernandes, with the Premier League club likely to make an official offer in the days to come. The Red Devils are believed to be preparing a proposal to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford but the Portuguese giants are holding out for a fee of around £60 million. Fernandes, who has scored 13 goals in 24 games for Sporting this season, has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur but his contract renewal back in November has caused them to cool their interest.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan have begun talks over the potential signing of Krzysztof Piatek in the January transfer window. The discussions are currently premature and no formal offers have been made for the striker. It is unclear if any transfer would be temporary or permanent at this stage. Spurs are presently in the midst of a crisis after captain Harry Kane has been ruled out until April after undergoing surgery on his left hamstring.

The Italian is understood to have agreed to a loan deal that will keep him at the Italian club until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal. The transfer is believed to be worth around £16 million, which is the same amount Wolves paid for him in the summer.

As per reports on The Athletic, Tammy Abraham is monitoring Chelsea's current transfer situation with Moussa Dembele and Timo Werner before signing a new contract with the club. The 22-year-old is aware that Werner's arrival would threaten his own place in the team, with the RB Leipzig man likely to lead the line in west London. Meanwhile, Dembele is considered to more of a deputy to Abraham and would be less of a hostile signing for the former Aston Villa loanee.

Inter Milan general manager Beppe Marotta has confirmed the club’s interest in Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal amid heavy speculation surrounding his future. The Milan giants have been heavily linked with the Chilean as Antonio Conto looks to bolster his squad this January to sustain their title charge this season.
Speaking of their transfer activity, Marotta said, "Vidal is one of our objectives. As for Eriksen, the market closes at the end of January. We’re working hard, but to improve the quality of our squad, important signings are needed and it’s for this obvious that there are difficulties."

The Belgian international is currently playing for the Chinese club Shandong Luneng, he has two years left on his contract, however, with the Chinese FA are introducing a salary cap, his wages could be cut by almost 75% after the end of his current deal. In all Fellaini has made 260 appearances in the English Premier League, in which he has 27 goals playing for Everton and Manchester United.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he has convinced Granit Xhaka to remain at the club after the midfielder appeared to be on the brink of a move to Germany. The Swiss international's agent had even claimed that the player agreed on terms with Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin in December after a torrid few months at the Emirates.
Arteta has now revealed that he has held positive talks with Xhaka over his future saying, "I wanted him to hear from me my opinion on him, and that I was ready to support him and that I was ready to push the club to be supportive of him too because I thought he could be a really, really good player for us and he could enjoy in this football club playing under me. I tried to convince him that way. He thought about it, he had a very positive response afterward and I think he changed his mind."
