FT: Hyderabad FC 0-1 Kerala Blasters

Kerala Blasters come away with a clean sheet and a W after a very impressive defensive display. The Tuskers held their shape throughout, making it difficult for Manolo Marquez's men to find their way through.

And while all the plaudits for the defence are as deserved as they come, Greek striker Diamantakos did score the winner in the 18th minute. And while he could prove to be a massive loss for the side, it his strike that sees the Kochi-based side rise three places to third on the table.

Hyderabad FC remain on top of the league, but now no longer see a '0' in their 'L' column. What that does is open up the battle for top spot with Mumbai City FC lingering within one point of the leaders.

And while the Kerala Blasters will go home happy with a very disciplined display, the defeat presents Hyderabad with an opportunity to go back to the drawing board and figure out their tactics against compact sides where spaces won't be the easiest to find.

Kerala's midfield played a massive role in this victory and this emphasised by Ivan Kalyuzhnyi winning the Hero of the Match award. The season only seems to get better and better for the Ukrainian.

90+8' DRAMA! Jeakson's swipe at the ball in the box only finds Joao Victor's legs and he goes down. But the referee says no penalty!

90+7' One final hopeful ball played into the Kerala box by Hyderabad but Prabhsukhan collects it comfortably.

90+6' Almost another chance for Hyderabad as Aaren squares one back into the middle but 'Hero of the Match' Ivan Kalyuzhnyi clears that one away.

Siverio fails to make any decent contact from a smart squared ball into the middle. The stray ball is then passed back towards Victor whose shot sails well over the bar.

67' A Luna corner finds Sandeep at the near post who flicks it on a little too powerfully as it goes out behind for a goal kick.

Rahul KP takes a shot from distance. It dips just a little bit but Anuj manages to punch it behind for a corner.

65' Halicharan Narzary is taken off due to injury and it is debutant Reagan Singh who comes on in his place. This is the perfect opportunity for Reagan to make a case for himself in the Hyderabad side.

63' Narzary looks like he's in a bit of pain.

62' We have reverted to mean after that early start that saw the Blasters calling all the shots. The Nizams are enjoying a large chunk of the possession again. Just a question of playing a lethal final ball and putting one in the back of the net.

60' Spaniard Borja Herrera comes on for Joel Chianese in what can only be described as a tactical change.

57' Luna was set free by an Ivan pass. Luna, in turn, passes it to Sahal, whose shot is blocked by the back-pedaling defenders.

The ball dropped for Giannou to hit it on the volley but Anuj Kumar does well to keep that ball out.

51' A Hyderabad counter-attack sees Chianese in plenty of space. But he's not able to make the most of it, only finding the keeper's hands with a weak shot.

45+2' HALF-TIME IN HYDERABAD!

We go into the break with the Blasters deservedly in the lead. They forced the issue a lot more than the hosts did and Diamantakos took the opportunity that he was presented with, putting his team in the lead. Hyderabad will want to do a lot better with the possession they're enjoying in this game but they're going to have to come out with a lot more attacking intent in the second half if they are to get past a disciplined Kerala Blasters set up, of course!

45' CHANCE!

A Chianese free kick finds Ogbeche in acres of space but he's not able to head that on target. That should have been a goal but Hyderabad aren't able to make the best of catching a Blasters high line napping.

42' A smart little chip from Jeakson finds Rahul behind the defence only for the linesman to rule him offside.

37' CHANCE! Sahal heads one just wide after a Luna cross found him on the left wing. Nikhil Poojari did well to put a little pressure on Sahal as the ball reached him.

34' That's the end of the night for Diamantakos. Looks like he has pulled something but we hope he's okay. Giannou replaces him in attack.

31' Two similar training-ground-routine corners from Chianese and Hyderabad FC. Leads to nothing in the end.

26' A mazy run from Nikhil Poojari into the box ends after he runs into a wall of Kerala Blasters defenders before he can cross the ball in.

Ogbeche catches a Poojari cross with an acrobatic overhead kick. It took a deflection off Hormipam but Gill does well to change direction and keep the ball out.

21' A stray back pass almost gives the Blasters a second but Anuj does well to get this one away.

20' That is the first goal that Hyderabad FC have conceded in 5 games now. And just as it was being mentioned on broadcast, Rahul KP ran through the defence and got a shot a way. Timid and no threat though.

It is Kerala Blasters who open the scoring. Diamantakos smashes one into an empty net after Anuj Kumar came out to stop Nishu Kumar getting to a beautiful ball over the defence from Adrian Luna. They've been troubling the Hyderabad defence for a while and all that pressure has now paid off!

16' The game is starting to open up just a little bit now. While Hyderabad are dominating possession, KBFC have done well to cause a little trouble by actively pressing high up the pitch.
