Stumps on Day 2

Australia is 61-1 after 12 overs. They are leading by 62 runs. Head, and Labuschagne are still at the crease batting on 39* and 16* respectively. Jadeja has been the sole wicket-taker for India.

Australia is making its intentions clear, playing the attacking brand of cricket. They've reached 51-1 in just 10 overs.

Nathan Lyon ended up with figures of 5/67. This was his 22nd fifer in Tests. Kuhnemann, and Murphy picked up 2 wickets each, while Pat Cummins got one wicket in his bucket.

India batting

As far as the batting is concerned, it was the tail once again who saved India with Axar scoring 74 runs, and Ashwin contributing with 37 runs. Kohli ended as the second highest scorer with 44 runs.

Shami has been dismissed Kuhnemann for 262 runs and Australia have the tiniest of lead of 1 runs.

After 83 overs, India is 262-9. Shami, and Siraj are out in the middle.

Blinder from the skipper

A mind-blowing catch from Australia's captain has dismissed Axar Patel for an amazing 74. He hit the ball really well but the reaction time and the dive just went in at the right time from Cummins. India is 259-9.

A flat six from the bat of Axar. It looked spectacular as it met the bat and India is now down to trailing by just 4 runs.

Incredible catch from Renshaw

Just as we said. the new ball has done the job for Australia as Ashwin gets out for 37 after Renshaw takes a brilliant diving catch. India is 253-8 and the 114-run stand comes to an end.

Australia has taken the new ball and its Pat Cummins who is in to bowl. The new red ball can bring in both runs and wickets.

Second new ball available

The second new ball is available and Australia has asked for a whole box and not just a few to choose from. India is currently 252-7 and they trail by 11 runs.

Punched away

Axar is not in a mood to stop, hits it for another boundary and its Lyon who's at the receiving end this time! India is just 16 away from equaling Australia's score.

With that boundary, Ashwin, and Axar have added over 100 runs for the 8th wicket. The two have been real game changers for India!

Just as we were saying, Axar ends the drought and hits two gorgeous boundaries off the bowling of Australia's captain! India is 243-7. They trail by 20 runs.

The runs have dried up a little in the past 15 minutes but they have been safe, not allowing much chances to the Australians.

Axar gets to fifty

A thumping six on the leg and he gets to a second consecutive half-century in Tests. He has pulled India right into the game here. What an innings by the champion all-rounder!

Boundary galore

Runs have been coming in quickly and the delivery on the pads have been the most favoring one for India. Another one down the line gets punished for four runs. Its 222-7.

Productive one for India

The move of bringing in part-timer Head doesn't go as planned as Axar drills one on the last ball straight down the ground for a boundary. India is 218-7. Trail by 45 runs.

Score at the moment

India is moving on nicely with this partnership of 69 runs. After 71 overs, India is 208-7.

Axar-Ashwin's duo

The 8th wicket partnership is now worth 63 runs and is the highest one in the innings up till now. This has come at an important juncture in the game and may result in a big turnaround in this Test match!

Ball deceives everyone

Lyon bowled a perfectly set up delivery to Axar and it almost worked as it missed the batsman, got an edge but unfortunately for Australia, it missed the slip fielder too and went away for four runs! India is 191-7.

Murphy bowls one down the line and Ashwin pounces on the loose delivery to score four runs. Every run counts for India here.

Bharat is the man who gets out and its Lyon's 5th scalp of the innings. This also brings up a huge milestone for Lyon as he gets his 100th Test wicket against India. Its 139-7.

A great moment for the Australian spinner Kuhnemann as he pics Virat Kohli as his first first wicket. He'll surely cherish this forever.

Virat walks back

The umpire gave Virat out LBW but he was confident enough and referred it upstairs. It was difficult to judge whether the bat had hit the ball first or not. However, the decision went in favor of Australia and Kohli has to go back for 44. India is 135-6.

Kohli plays it risky

The delivery from Murphy kept extremely low and Kohli manages to get the bat right on time. He flicks it and even gets four runs for it! He surely had his heart beating while he played that one.
