Ravindra Jadeja (Player of the Match): I was looking to just build a partnership with Rohit as we were in a bad position at 33/3. I just tried to watch the ball and keep the runs coming, my aim was not get into a shell. I know this wicket, once we bat first the ball comes on the bat nicely and in the second innings it gets difficult. Once Rohit won the toss, I was like this is what all wanted. I think on this wicket, we don't get easy wickets, we need to work hard, as this surface is good for batting. We need to keep bowling in good areas. We need to earn the wickets on this surface.

17:20 (IST)18 FEB 2024

Rohit Sharma (Indian Captain): Well see when you are playing Test cricket it is not played over two days or three days. We always back ourselves to be in the game for five days. They played well. They batted really well and put us under pressure. But we have got class on our squad. The message was to stay calm. Not drift from what we want as a team. I'm proud of my team because they stuck to the plans. I mean specially for this game, Jadeja has got a good experience of playing in this format. He has scored a good amount of runs and we wanted that right and left hand combination. We all know Sarfaraz. He did what he does the best. We don't have any long term plan with the batting order. We go with whatever we feel is right for that day and that match and go with the flow. Honestly, a lot of turning points. Once we won the toss, that was a good toss to win because we know how important it is to put runs on the board. Also, to get that lead. The way we bowled after the onslaught from the English batters was brilliant. The bowlers showed great character there. I have spoken a lot about Yashasvi in Vizag as well. Even outside the dressing room, there have been a lot of talks about him. I will stay calm about him and not talk much about him. He is young and has started of his career on a high. I hope he continues to deliver for us.

17:14 (IST)18 FEB 2024

Ben Stokes, England captain:  Ben Duckett played an unbelievable innings, that was the tone we wanted to set for our first innings first time around. For us it was about identifying that opportunity to try and push the scoreboard to get as close as possible to India's total. That said, I actually wanted to bowl yesterday, although it came sooner than what we wanted. We wanted to try and push the game as much as we could due to the nature of the wicket, sometimes the game plan doesn't work out. That's sports at times. Everyone's got a perception about things, but the opinions of the people in the dressing room is what matters. We know that things don't always work out. 2-1 down in the series, still two games to go. We leave this game behind us just like the 1st and 2nd game, even with those results, we have to win the next couple of games to win the series. That's what we're trying to do.

16:56 (IST)18 FEB 2024

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Just trying to make it big whenever I'm set. In Test cricket, whenever I'm playing well I try to make sure I play as long as I can for my team. It was difficult for me yesterday. I had to wait and then play my shots. Once I was settled I could play my shots. After sometime my back wasn't fine. I didn't want to go out but I had to. Lots of thoughts in my mind the next day but I wanted to give myself time and if I was set I knew I could take it as deep as I could. I felt there was something in the wicket. It was really important for me to give a good start. I was trying to make sure I could play as many balls as possible. If I'm set I need to make it big. My seniors always tell me if I'm set I need to make it big. Seeing how Rohit bhai and Jaddu bhai played the first innings motivated me a lot. When I was inside I kept thinking that when I go out I wanted to make it count. It's incredible to see them (coaching staff) put in a lot of efforts. I needed to make sure in my mind that I give my 100 per cent.

Match End!!!!

India - 445 and 430/4 dec
England - 319 and 122
India win the match by 434 runs and take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal - 214 (236)* | Ravindra Jadeja - 5/41
Ben Duckett - 153 (151) | Mark Wood - 4/114

India have completed a convincing win over England and have taken a 2-1 lead in the series. It has been team-performance with different heroes bailing them out of different situations.

India won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. They were struggling at one stage in the innings at 33 for three. It was at this stage Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja got together and bailed India out of trouble. After this the middle-order continued the good work and ensured that India reached a total of 445 runs in the first innings.

In their first attempt with the bat in the match, England looked brilliant. Ben Duckett played an aggressive knock of 153 runs and it looked like England will take a first innings lead and put India under pressure. They were comfortably positioned at 224 for 2, when India struck back. The bowling unit of the hosts, managed to pick up the last eight wickets for 95 runs and restrict England to 319.

India came out to bat for a second time with a 126-run lead. In the second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his second double hundred of the series and ensured that India will set a huge target for the visitors. He was aided by Shubman Gill and Sarfaraz Khan in India's journey to 440 for 4 before declaring.

England had a target of 557 in the fourth innings to chase and they succumbed big time under it. The Indian bowlers were exceptional and were led by Ravindra Jadeja. He picked up five wickets in the innings and ensured that England was bundled out cheaply for just 122 runs. With that India won the game by 434 runs. It was their biggest ever win by runs.

16:47 (IST)18 FEB 2024

That is it!!! India gave defeated England by 434 runs in the third Test and have taken a 2-1 lead in the series. Jadeja has also taken a fifer here. This is India's biggest ever win by runs in the history.

39.4 Ravindra Jadeja to Mark Woo

OUT! FIVE FOR JADEJA AND INDIA WRAP THINGS UP! Length delivery outside the off stump and Wood steps out to smack it down the ground. Launches it towards long off but cannot clear Jaiswal who moves to his left and makes no mistake. India trounce England by a massive 434 runs and go 2-1 up in the series!

16:46 (IST)18 FEB 2024

39.1 Ravindra Jadeja to Mark Woo

short and turning away in the channel. Wood backs away and flat-bats it to cover

16:45 (IST)18 FEB 2024

Wood has batted with a strike rate of nearly 300 here. So, a momentary return of the Baz-ball.

16:44 (IST)18 FEB 2024

38.4 Ravichandran Ashwin to Mark Woo

full and tossed up around the off stump. Wood steps out and mistimes his swing wide of long on before deep mid-wicket moves to his left and relays it to long on. Just a single!

16:43 (IST)18 FEB 2024

38.3 Ravichandran Ashwin to Mark Woo

and there comes the reverse! Except, Anderson doesn't connect as he's beaten

16:41 (IST)18 FEB 2024

India will have to wait for the review but it seems like they are pretty confident of the appeal. Wood survives, the decision has been overturned. His fun time with the bat continues.

End of over 38 (23 runs), England 114/10

BIG SHOUT AND GIVEN! Wood reviews of course! With the arm on a length around leg stump. Wood goes for the slog sweep but is pinned just above the abdomen. Was height an issue here? Fair delivery.

No bat involved at all but it pitched outside leg stump. The game will carry on a little longer. NOT OUT!

16:40 (IST)18 FEB 2024

37.5 Ravindra Jadeja to Mark Woo

OHH! FOUR LEG BYES! Full on leg stump as Wood shapes for the paddle sweep. Parks his front foot across but misses out before it hits his pads and trickles fine to the fence. India have no reviews but I reckon that was out LBW

16:38 (IST)18 FEB 2024

37.2 Ravindra Jadeja to Mark Woo

WHOOSH! Flighted full on off stump as Wood goes for an almighty slog. Turns and bounces away but Jadeja oversteps again. Rohit sure isn't happy!

16:37 (IST)18 FEB 2024

Ashwin has picked up his first wicket of the second innings in that over. So, India will look to get this done by the next four overs. They will not be eager to take it to that extra half an hour.

quick and full on the off stump. Anderson comes forward to pat it out

16:33 (IST)18 FEB 2024

16:33 (IST)18 FEB 2024

36.1 Ravichandran Ashwin to Tom Hartley

DRAGGED ON! Flighted full outside the off stump and Hartley leans forward attempting a drive through the covers. All he manages though is a thick inside edge as this one comes straight on before he plays it onto his stumps. Ashwin has his first and England are one wicket away from being bundled out!

Tom Hartley b Ravichandran Ashwin 16 (36b, 2x4, 1x6)

16:32 (IST)18 FEB 2024

So, the change in the bowling worked for India. They have picked up the wicket for Foakes, now they will get a half an hour extra to finish things off today. India won't mind the tail-enders chancing their arms at this stage.

16:32 (IST)18 FEB 2024

End of over 36 (9 runs), England 91/8

Mark Wood 8(2)
Tom Hartley 16(35)
Ravindra Jadeja 20/4

16:32 (IST)18 FEB 2024

35.6 Ravindra Jadeja to Mark Woo

FOUR! WELL WELL! Brings out the slog sweep off a full length around the off stump and with nobody manning the leg-side fence, he has all the license to do it. Not middled perfectly though as it drops well short of the ropes before clearing them

16:31 (IST)18 FEB 2024

35.6 Ravindra Jadeja to Mark Woo

FOUR! Fired full around the off stump. Wood leans forward and creams a drive through the covers as it races along the outfield to the fence. Oh - Jadeja has overstepped though!

16:30 (IST)18 FEB 2024

Mark Wood, RHB, comes into bat at number 10.

16:29 (IST)18 FEB 2024

Gone, there is the game extending by half an hour. Jadeja gives Rohit the wicket and it is now just a matter of a couple of wickets for the hosts.

16:29 (IST)18 FEB 2024

35.5 Ravindra Jadeja to Ben Foakes

NICKS BEHIND! The move to bring Jadeja back works! Turns away off a back of a length radar outside the off stump. Tempts Foakes into the cut as the batter hangs back and goes for it but there's a thick edge that follows before Jurel snaffles a sharp one to add another feather to his cap in what has been a dream debut. full outside the off stump again. Strides forward to push it out to cover this time

35.1 Ravindra Jadeja to Ben Foakes

fired full and close to the off stump. Foakes leans forward and blunts it out to silly point

16:27 (IST)18 FEB 2024

Another over goes by without a wicket falling. Rohit Sharma was heard in the stump mic saying - 'Pick up a wicket now and the game will extended by half an hour'. He wants this to be over by tonight.

End of over 35 (5 runs), England 82/7
