Pravin Jadhav's journey in the Tokyo Olympics 2021 comes to an end as he is eliminated in the second round. The Indian loses to second seed and top-ranked archer Brady Ellison 0-6.

Both the players, apart from battling it among themselves, had to win over the extreme conditions too.

It cannot solely be put on adverse weather conditions too. The Indian didn't get his shots properly on target and scores of 8s and 7s did him in. The American did keep his cool and that was what that made the difference.

We have Atanu Das and Deepika Kumari left to compete in the Indian archery contingent. The World No. 1 Deepika Kumari will be in action later in the day while Atanu Das will be playing tomorrow.

Pravin Jadhav vs Brady Ellison in second round

USA's Brady Ellison has comfortably got it past his Iranian opponent and will be Pravin Jadhav's opponent.

Not to forget, Brady Ellison is World No. 1.

Consistency sets Pravin Jadhav apart

The focus was undoubtedly on Atanu Das before the Tokyo Olympics 2021 started and as of now it is safe to say it is Pravin Jadhav who has aced it.

The archer has been on the money with his surgical precision and his understanding of the conditions and adapting to them.

He has now staved off a challenge from Russian Olympic Committee's Galsan Bazarzhapov in the first round and will progress to the second. He will either meet the 63rd seed Iran's Milad Teymoorlooei or USA's Brady Ellison, who is seeded second.

Considering how the individual rounds have panned out so far, it would be of no surprise to see Pravin Jadhav go deep into the event.

Pravin Jadhav wins the third set 28-24 and surges into the next round.

Bazarzhapov started with a 9, lost steam by scoring 7 and then managed an 8 while Pravin held his cool to score two 9s and one 10.

There is a lot that has come into play here. The archer's confidence, perseverance, talent and more importantly adapting to conditions.

Pravin Jadhav looked calm and composed and made sure to hit the 10s when he needed them.

He has been one of the best archers for India in the Tokyo Olympics 2021. Among the three Indian male archers, he emerged on top in the ranking round; partnered with Deepika Kumari in the mixed event, and relatively got an easy opponent in the first round.

Surprises galore

The archery events have thrown up a couple of surprises.

We have had the top seed and teenage sensation Kim De Jeok of Korea, fifth seed Hiroki Muto of Japan and eighth seed Dutchman Sjef van der Berg being eliminated.

There is a lot of buzz on the conditions too, especially with a typhoon approaching Japan.

Tarundeep Rai knocked out

The Indian archers started on a losing note with Tarundeep Rai losing his round of 16 fixture against Israel's Itay Shanny in the men's individual archery competition.

Itay Shanny defeated Rai in a shoot-off after the scores were level at the end of the fifth set.

Olympics: Indian archer Tarundeep Rai knocked out in round of 32 in men's individual event

Good afternoon. It is Archery time again at the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

We will have Pravin Jadhav, who will take centre stage soon, and will be up against ROC's Galsan Bazarzhapov in the Round-of-32.

Pravin Jadhav was by far the best Indian archer in the ranking round, finishing 31st with 656 points, ahead of Atanu Das and Tarundeep Rai.

We will also have an interesting update in the archery events. There will be biometrics used for the individual rounds where the archer's heart beat is constantly measured giving us an indication of how the archer is handling pressure.
