Heartbreak for India and yet, they can hold their heads up high as they've managed to secure a historic silver medal in this Men's Badminton Team event. Lakshya Sen and SatChi's wins gave India a 2-0 lead and Kidambi Srikanth almost won the first game of the third match, but it all changed when Li Shifeng came back from 14-18 down to take that game. From then on, it was one-way traffic for China, with Li taking down Srikanth with ease to pull one back before their Men's Doubles pair of Ou Xianyi/ Liu Yuchen and Weng Hongyang completed the comeback.
For India, they would feel hard done by the results, especially after their wins in the first two matches. India sorely missed HS Prannoy (injury), and it could've been a different story had he been part of the tie, with Arjun Madathil also missing out due to a niggle.
Nevertheless, an excellent showing from the Indian shuttles that made one of the best teams in the world sweat. That silver medal adds to India's formidable medal tally that's now well above the 50-medal mark. There's plenty of action yet to come in the 2023 Asian Games and stay tuned to Sportskeeda's coverage of the same.

Mithun Manjunath simply couldn't cope with the brilliance of Weng Hongyang, who bettered his performance from the first game and was nearly flawless in this second game. Mithun didn't look to have any answers against the left-handed angles of Weng Hongyang as the latter kept targeting his back hand and his body with his unstoppable forehand smashes. He trailed 11-1 at the halfway stage and looked bereft of any belief and eventually lost 21-4. Take nothing away from Weng Hongyang, who delivered in a pressure game to win his country a Gold medal.

India's hopes of winning the gold slowly slipping away as Weng Hongyang beats Mithun Manjunath comprehensively in the first game. The Indian remained calm and composed throughout, but he could do very little about the left-handed Weng's smashes down the line and at his body, and did struggle a bit with the different angles Weng Hongyang could get.
To Mithun's credit, he fought back after the halfway break, where he was trailing 6-11, switching up his tactics and trying to outsmart Hongyang. However, the latter caught on soon and took control of the game, eventually cruising to a 21-12 win.Can Mithun do better in the second game?
