Right then, what a game we have witnessed! Over 400 runs being scored once again at Eden Gardens and this time, it's the Sunrisers Hyderabad who win this contest! They continue the recent trend of visiting sides winning contests. A special knock from Harry Brook and he has finally announced his arrival on the big stage. That's all we have for you then. It was a pleasure bringing to you this contest! Join us back tomorrow for Super Saturday as we have some cracking games lined-up! Until then, this is me, Maanas Upadhyay, alongside Pratyush Rohra, bidding you adieu! Good night!

23:39 (IST)14 APR 2023

Harry Brook (Player of the Match): Yeah it was a special night. Thankfully we got over the line and it's good to be on the winning side tonight. Yeah a lot of people say opening is the best position to bat. I'm open to bat anywhere - I've made my name batting at number 5. Unfortunate my Test knocks will be above this one. There was one ball where Chakravarthy was bowling to me and the crowd was going mental so it was good to see the crowd. I was putting pressure on myself. People on social media call you rubbish. But today I played with the carefree attitude. There will be a lot of Indian fans who will be praising me today who were slagging me off a few days ago - glad I could shut them up.

23:36 (IST)14 APR 2023

Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper): I suppose we'll take our second win from home. The total was never safe but hats off to the bowlers. At a venue like this, the pitch played well - you never really know but you back your batters out there who play with intent. Fortunate that we got off to a great start and it allows you to play with freedom. With the Impact Player, you bat deep and it allows you to play. It worked out well today (promoting Brook to the top) and giving a player like that more balls to play does well for a franchise. Kudos to him (Bhuvi) for keeping calm and giving his best. It's a great bunch of guys but there are a few areas where we can work on. It's nice for us to still be able to grow as a team.

23:24 (IST)14 APR 2023

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Sunrisers Hyderabad): First of all to start, we wanted to get wickets up front. That's the best way to stop any side. The way they scored in the sixth over, we took some blows. When you defend this kind of total, you take that and still try to defend the total. (Death bowling) It depends. I'm not a big gan of bowling too many slower balls. If you can execute your variations and bowl in the right areas, you can come out on top. You also have to keep it depending on the batters and the dimensions. (Advice to Umran in the final over) 32 runs are not easy to get in the last over. We wanted to back him to bowl the first two balls and he did that. We didn't want to confuse him too much. (Pitch) Great for the batters, not so much for the bowlers. Really good wicket, the batters can come hard, but if you can hit the right lengths, it's never easy to hit. Good to get the win. (Harry Brook) It was a top-class innings. We needed that kind of an innings for him. He wasn't in the runs in the last few matches so to have him score is great. We know his capabilities and that's why stuck with him at the top of the order. Very happy that he's got some runs under his belt.

23:20 (IST)14 APR 2023

Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders): The way we bowled, we didn't bowl to our plans. 230 was a huge total, so I feel like we could have planned and executed better in the bowling department. We know what Rinku did that day doesn't happy every day. The way we batted tonight, pretty happy. We spoke about taking the game deep because anything can happen. That was the mindset. Whatever I got in my arc, I took my changes. There is some home advantage but we know this is how the Eden Gardens surfaces will play. On a given day if your bowlers concede runs, it's okay. It happens on bad days. I know these will be the bowlers that win be the game next time.

23:16 (IST)14 APR 2023

Sunrisers Hyderabad 228/4 (20) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 205/7 (20) by 23 runs

Harry Brook 100*(55) | Aiden Markram 50(26) | Andre Russell 3-22(2.1)
Nitish Rana 75(41) | Rinku Singh 58*(31) | Mayank Markande 2-27(4)

Whew! What a game we have been treated to! An exhibition of some terrific batting and in the end, it is the Sunrisers Hyderabad who emerge on top by just 23 runs. Credit to the Knight Riders to go deep into the contest after losing three wickets in the power play itself - which is usually a recipe for failure as history has proven more often than not.

Chasing 229 runs was not going to be a mean feat by any means and the Knight Riders did not get off to the best of starts, losing three quick wickets in the power play as Bhuvneshwar and Jansen kept matters tight. However, their recovery started once skipper Nitish Rana made his way to the middle. The ace batter scored a scintillating 75 runs and despite losing a couple of partners, kept going.

Rinku Singh blasted his way to a half century but in the end, it proved to not be enough as the Knight Riders fell short by 23 runs. Some belligerent hitting on display right throughout the game and it just shows what a belter of a track was in store for us at Eden Gardens. And on that track, Mayank Markande and Bhuvneshwar Kumar's spells must be appreciated, with both of them conceding less than 30 runs in a 229 run chase. For the Knight Riders, they will have lots of positives to take from this contest while the Sunrisers collect their second win on the trot and move upwards in the points table!

23:15 (IST)14 APR 2023

End of over 20 (8 runs), Kolkata Knight Riders 205/7

Rinku Singh 58(31)
Umesh Yadav 1(1)
Umran Malik 36/1

23:15 (IST)14 APR 2023

19.6 Umran Malik to Rinku Singh

SRH HOLD THEIR NERVE! At the back of a length outside the off-stump. Rinku flat-bats it dow not long-off and has to settle for a single. No victory springs for him tonight, because it's the Sunrisers Hyderabad who win by 23 runs!

23:14 (IST)14 APR 2023

19.5 Umran Malik to Rinku Singh

SIX! How's that gone all the way? Because it was delivered at 144.6kmph maybe. Dug in short and Rinku tried to take it on, getting a top edge that kept sailing over the fine leg boundary

23:13 (IST)14 APR 2023

19.4 Umran Malik to Rinku Singh

back of a length outside the off-stump. Rinku pulls it to deep square leg and doesn't take the single

23:13 (IST)14 APR 2023

That was bowled at 147.5 kph! He isn't resorting to any slower ones here! It's all about pace for Umran!

23:13 (IST)14 APR 2023

19.3 Umran Malik to Rinku Singh

at the back of a good length to angle it into Rinku. He shuffled across for an attempted scoop but didn't connect, no run

23:12 (IST)14 APR 2023

19.2 Umran Malik to Umesh Yada

short of a length outside the off-stump. Umesh taps it towards point and brings Rinku back on strike, for what it's worth

23:11 (IST)14 APR 2023

Umesh Yadav, RHB, walks out to the middle
Umran Malik would've been under some massive pressure but his express pace gets Thakur's bat to turn and fetches him a wicket! That should be the game for SRH!

23:10 (IST)14 APR 2023

19.1 Umran Malik to Shardul Thakur

OUT! UMRAN HOLDS HIS NERVE! On the good length outside the off-stump and Thakur swung for the fences, miscuing a slice that ballooned to Sundar at short third, where he made no mistake. Not only is it a dot ball, it keeps Rinku off strike.

23:10 (IST)14 APR 2023

Right, 32 off the last over and it is Umran Malik (1-0-28-0) who is back into the attack. Here we go! Seems like a tough ask unless we have some no balls or wides here.

23:09 (IST)14 APR 2023

Oh poor! That's really poor by Glenn Phillips! Should have been pouched but the ball goes right through his hands! T Natarajan finishes with a spell that has been beyond expensive.

23:08 (IST)14 APR 2023

End of over 19 (16 runs), Kolkata Knight Riders 197/6

Rinku Singh 51(27)
Shardul Thakur 12(6)
T Natarajan 54/1

23:08 (IST)14 APR 2023

18.6 T Natarajan to Rinku Singh

FOUR! Dropped and would you believe it? It's Glenn Phillips out of all people! It was short to angle it into Rinku and he took it on, pulling it straight towards deep mid-wicket where Phillips made a hash of the simplest of chances. Just took his eyes off the ball there. That brings up a half-century for Rinku Singh!

23:08 (IST)14 APR 2023

The KKR fans have settled down. There's an air of suspense throughout the stadium now.

23:07 (IST)14 APR 2023

18.5 T Natarajan to Rinku Singh

FOUR! Missed the yorker just by a little bit and Rinku manages to squeeze it out. Swiped out in the gap at cow corner to find another boundary. Seems like a lost cause for KKR now though.

23:07 (IST)14 APR 2023

18.4 T Natarajan to Rinku Singh

MIX UP! Banged in short to angle it Rinku as he tried to take it on. Gloves his pull to backward square leg and denies the single, sending Thakur back

23:06 (IST)14 APR 2023

18.3 T Natarajan to Rinku Singh

pitched up in the channel around off-stump. Rinku shovels out a drive to sweeper cover and picks up another brace. The throw from Mayank came at the wrong end, wasn't the best either

23:05 (IST)14 APR 2023

That's what KKR need! Many more of those too! Will Natarajan be able to hold his nerve here?

23:05 (IST)14 APR 2023

18.2 T Natarajan to Rinku Singh

FOUR! Another low full toss wide outside the off-stump. Rinku does well to carve it out behind point and finds another crucial boundary. KKR clinging on for the moment, just about.

23:04 (IST)14 APR 2023

18.1 T Natarajan to Rinku Singh

DIRECT HIT! Has Shardul made it back home in time? He has! Low full toss wide outside the off-stump and Rinku managed to carve it out to sweeper cover. A wayward throw from Mayank allows Rinku to steal a second run

23:04 (IST)14 APR 2023

Bhuvneshwar's slower ones are turning out to be almost impossible to pick for the Knight Riders. However, he has completely his four overs. Two overs left in the contest and we just might see Natarajan and Umran bowl the two. KKR need 48 runs from 2 overs and even for the likes of Rinku and Shardul, it is certainly a huge ask. They need a massive 19th over here to stay in the game!

23:03 (IST)14 APR 2023

End of over 18 (9 runs), Kolkata Knight Riders 180/6

Shardul Thakur 11(6)
Rinku Singh 35(21)
Bhuvneshwar Kumar 28/1

23:03 (IST)14 APR 2023

17.6 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shardul Thakur

DROPPED! Pitched up outside the off-stump and it was the leg-cutter. Thakur swung for the fences, slicing this over extra cover somewhere in between three converging fielders. Markram was backtracking and managed to get there but couldn't hold on

23:02 (IST)14 APR 2023

17.5 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Rinku Singh

another pinpoint yorker on the pads. Rinku clips it to square leg and scurries across to the other end

23:02 (IST)14 APR 2023

17.4 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shardul Thakur

digs it in at the short length to angle it into Thakur. Mistimed pull to deep mid-wicket for a single

23:01 (IST)14 APR 2023

17.3 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shardul Thakur

wide yorker with no pace on offer this time. Thakur swings and misses, dot ball

23:00 (IST)14 APR 2023

17.2 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Shardul Thakur

FOUR! JUST OVER! On the good length outside the off-stump and Thakur throws the kitchen sink at it. The thick outside edge balloons teasingly over Natarajan at short third and the ball trickles away into the ropes

23:00 (IST)14 APR 2023

17.1 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Rinku Singh

this time the yorker is right on the pads. Rinku can only clip it out to deep mid-wicket for a single

22:59 (IST)14 APR 2023

17.1 Bhuvneshwar Kumar to Rinku Singh

wide. The idea was right with the attempted wide yorker. It landed on the wrong side of the tramline.

22:59 (IST)14 APR 2023

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-1-19-1) is back into the attack

22:59 (IST)14 APR 2023

Nerves of steel from Natarajan after being hit for a maximum. He keeps his calm and sticks to his plans to get the wicket of the well-set KKR skipper - Nitish Rana.
KKR need 58 runs off 18 balls

22:58 (IST)14 APR 2023

End of over 17 (12 runs), Kolkata Knight Riders 171/6

Shardul Thakur 5(2)
Rinku Singh 33(19)
T Natarajan 38/1

22:58 (IST)14 APR 2023

16.6 T Natarajan to Shardul Thakur

FOUR! A welcome boundary! Natarajan might consider himself a bit unfortunate with this yorker on the boot. Thakur just about managed to get enough bat on it to beat short fine leg, keeping KKR alive in this contest

22:58 (IST)14 APR 2023

16.5 T Natarajan to Rinku Singh

low full toss wide outside the off-stump. Rinku crouches low and drills it to sweeper cover for one

22:57 (IST)14 APR 2023

16.4 T Natarajan to Shardul Thakur

finds the yorker on the middle and leg-stump line. Thakur flicks it to deep square leg to get off the mark

22:56 (IST)14 APR 2023

Shardul Thakur, RHB, walks out to the middle

22:56 (IST)14 APR 2023

A wicket against the run of play and Nitish Rana walks back to a standing ovation from the crowd. It's been a fantastic innings under pressure and he will surely cherish this know, even if it goes in vain.

22:55 (IST)14 APR 2023

16.3 T Natarajan to Nitish Rana

THIS TIME SUNDAR HOLDS ON! It was another full toss outside the off-stump and Rana smacked it towards sweeper cover. It was flat and traveling but this time Sundar wasn't letting it slip through, moving to his left and clinging on for dear life. End of a sublime innings from the KKR captain. A much-needed breakthrough for SRH.

22:55 (IST)14 APR 2023

Need a couple more of this in this over to keep up with the scoring rate! Natarajan is disappointed.

22:54 (IST)14 APR 2023

16.2 T Natarajan to Nitish Rana

SIX! The margin for error as a bowler is always so minimal. This time Natarajan dishes out a full toss and Rana obliges. Pumps it back over the bowler's head for half-a-dozen

22:54 (IST)14 APR 2023

16.1 T Natarajan to Nitish Rana

nails the yorker outside the off-stump. Rana attempted a cheeky reverse ramp to beat short third but he couldn't connect, dot ball

22:54 (IST)14 APR 2023

T Natarajan (2-0-26-0) is back into the attack

22:53 (IST)14 APR 2023

Timeout! Two massive hits to finish the over and the complexion of the game changes completely! Just when it seemed like the target would continue to get steeper to chase, two huge maximums from the blade of Rinku has turned the momentum back in the favour of the Knight Riders. They still need 70 runs from 4 overs at 17.5 RPO but with the pacers expected to bowl them, who knows? They just might do it! They must be wary of Bhuvneshwar Kumar though, who has bowled a splendid spell so far but apart from this, there might not be any big threats left for KKR. SRH will have the pressure on them to deliver.

22:50 (IST)14 APR 2023

End of over 16 (17 runs), Kolkata Knight Riders 159/5

Rinku Singh 32(18)
Nitish Rana 69(38)
Marco Jansen 37/2
