And talking about stories, Sarabjot Singh has a redemption story of his own. Remember that he is also just 22-years old and is competing in his first Olympics. The young man who hails from Ambala was absolutely distraught after he missed out on the finals of the 10m Air Pistol Men's event by the smallest margin there could ever be. He finished 9th in the qualifications and just missed out on the number of Xs he had scored after having a score equal to the German shooter who was ranked 8th.

But then, he had his opportunity again and this time he made sure that he did not miss out. After a shaky start, he pounced back and went from strength to strength with Manu and ensured his first and India's second medal at Paris 2024.

What a story this has been for Manu Bhaker! The 22-year old from Haryana opened India's account with a Bronze Medal in the 10m Air Pistol Women's event and here she is two days later making India proud again and adding another Bronze to her and India's tally in company of Sarabjot Singh.

The Medal Ceremony

All the three victorious pairs are out again and they stand behind the podium waiting to be honored with the medals. Manu and Sarabjot stand on the far right side and they look as calm as they were throughout the match.

There comes the moment, Manu and Sarabjot get on to the podium and there is a beaming smile on Manu's face to go with a rather composed look for Sarabjot. The crowd roars in delight as soon as the Indian pair's name is announced and the pair is soaking it all in. They are awarded their medals and also mementos to commemorate their achievement. The bronze color of the medal shines brightly on the necks of Manu and Sarabjot as they stand proudly on the podium.

Serbia's Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec pip the Turkish pair of Yusuf Dikec and Sevval Ilayda Tarhan to win the Gold Medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event in a stunning comeback victory. They were trailing 2-8 at one point but have made a comeback for the ages to snatch the Gold Medal by a scoreline of 16-14. The Serbian pair cannot believe it and there is emotion pouring all over.

In what is turning out to be a tight affair for the gold medal, it is 10-10 at the moment between Serbia's Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec and Turkiye's Yusuf Dikec and Sevval Ilayda Tarhan with the latter coming back form behind.

Historic Bronze Medal for Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh

History has been scripted right in front of our eyes!! Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh become the first pair from India to win a medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Event as they get the better of the Korean pair in the Bronze Medal Match.

It was a wobbly start from the Indian pair, Sarabjot Singh started with a weak 8.6 and that led Korea taking the initial honors. But then, Sarbjeet got back on track and with an in-form Manu Bhaker the pair clinched the next 4 sets getting into a big lead. A 10.8 from the Ye Jin Oh in the next series was pivotal in Korea taking the next set but then India pounced back straightaway with Manu continuing her stellar run getting a 10.6.

Manu slipped up for the first time in the contest as she went out of the 10-mark in the eighth series shooting her lowest 8.3 and that gave Korea another set. But then, the Indian coach called a timeout at the perfect time for Manu and Sarabjot. It did wonders for the duo as Manu got back on track into the 10s and Sarabjot was in the 10s as well as Wonho Lee from Korea was struggling to get into the 10s and even though Ye Jin Oh scored a near-perfect 10.8, the Indian pair took the next two sets.

India was one set away from clinching the bronze medal as the score stood at 14-6. Consecutive 10.8s from Ye Jin Oh helped Korea reduce the deficit with the Indians missing the 10-mark on the first of them. Weak shots from both the Koreans meant that even one decent shot from the Indian pair would do it and Sarabjot responded with a 10.2 and even though Manu had a shaky last shot with 9.4, it was more than enough for the Indian pair to get on to the podium.

Sarabjot says that she he is delighted to win the medal, the competition was tough but it feels great he says. Manu Bhaker is all but gratitude as she thanks everyone after creating history and she is as calm as if she has done nothing. She says that the pair decided to fight till the last shot and didn't they do it.

Korea are clawing back into this! Inspite of a 20.8 from the Indian pair, Korea manage a total of 21.0 with Ye Jin Ho shooting consecutive 10.8s.

India 14 - 8 Korea

Ooh! Nerves! Both Indians failing to get to 10. A 9.6 by Manu and a 9.7 by Sarabjot Singh while the Koreans get a total of 19.8, which is 0.5 over the Indians.

India 14 - 6 Korea

India are just one series away from the bronze medal! 10.5 for Manu and 10.3 for Sarabjot with the Koreans failing to find the 10 mark again. We could be heading closer to history.

India 12 - 6 Korea

The timeout seems to have worked in India's favour! Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh get a combined score of 20.5 and it ekes out the Koreans by 0.1 as they score 20.4. They are nearing the 16-point mark!

India 10 - 6 Korea

Manu Bhaker falters for the first time in the contest as she shoots an 8.3, Sarabjot with a 10.2 make up for India's 18.5 but Korea managed 20.7. The Indian coach has called for a timeout and Manu might just need that.

India 10 - 4 Korea

After giving away one set to the Koreans, the Indian pair make a strong comeback. A 9.4 by Sarabjot Singh with Manu's 10.6 takes India to 20.0 but the Koreans cannot manage a single 10. They only get to 19.7. Another set win for India!

Korea pounce back after the timeout. 20.6 for them with a 10.8 for Ye Jin Oh and India can manage 20.2 and they are now 4 point ahead only.

India are halfway there! Remember, you need to reach 16 points to win! With an 8-2 lead, India will be looking to seal the deal quickly.

Consistent shooting from India and they have widened the gap now. 10.5 for Manu Bhaker who is in stellar form along with 9.6 for Sarabjot making India's total 20.6. Both the Koreans fail to find the 10-mark and they are now going into a timeout.

India have taken the early lead and are breaking away from their opponents. Pressure on the Koreans and it's showing, with the Koreans failing to shoot the 10s consistently.

20.7 for India and 20.5 for Korea and the crowd are absolutely loving it. Manu is turning on the heat as she scores a 10.7 but it is Lee Wonho for Korea who fails to find the 10 mark and Korea lag behind again.

After a shaky start, Sarabjot Singh has calmed his nerves. He's settled in now and is going well!

10.4 for both the Indian shooters and Lee Wonho from Korea stutters with a 9.1 and India take another round are now in the lead.

The Korean pair will certainly be a big challenge for the Indians. Manu knows how good Ye Jin Oh is as the Korean won gold in the individual event where Manu had clinched bronze.
