An early goal from Klostermann resulted in Germany asserting their dominance in the first half, before Nigeria were caught out late in the second half by substitute Petersen to wrap up the win. Nigeria will play Honduras in the bronze medal match, while Germany and Brazil face off in the Olympic final. The last time the two teams met in a major tournament? Brazil 1-7 Germany.
