Another auction, another day that goes into the annals of PKL history! Pawan Kumar Sehrawat's record-breaking bid of ₹2.26 Crores was broken not once but twice, and who else to do it but the Hi-Flyer himself when he went to the Telugu Titans for a mind-boggling sum of ₹2.605 Crores. Being listed in Category B made no difference as teams waited and held back on bidding for anyone else to bid for the Indian captain, and in the end, it's the Titans who emerged victorious! Can Pawan turn their fortunes around?
However, for most of the auction, Iran's Mohammadreza Shadloui held the record as the Puneri Paltan spent most of their budget to get the all-rounder for ₹2.35 Crores. His national team captain, Fazel Atrachali, went to the Gujarat Giants for ₹1.60 Crores to reunite with Ram Mehar Singh.
Maninder Singh was the other show-stealer of the auction as the Telugu Titans and the Bengaluru Bulls fought it out to sign him, only for Bengal to use their FBM card and retain him for a whopping sum of ₹2.12 Crore.
The Haryana Steelers were clearly waiting to sign Pawan Sehrawat, but were disappointed as the Titans edged them out. They ended up bidding ₹1 Crore to sign Siddharth Desai towards the fag end of the auction. The Pirates were in the running for many players but walk out of Day 1 with only one signing, albeit a good one in Manjeet Dahiya for ₹92 Lakhs. The Thalaivas were in a similar position, but they're one of only two teams yet to buy a player at the auction.
As expected, with only ₹87 Lakhs in their purse, the Jaipur Pink Panthers put their feet up, watched records break, and didn't take any part in the day's proceedings.
