Simranjit Kaur gets outclassed by Thailand's Sudaporn Seesondee

India's Simranjit Kaur's maiden Olympics campaign ended shortly as she lost emphatically to Thailand's Sudaporn Seesondee in the women's lightweight category. All five judges awarded the bout to Thailand, with Simranjit failing to get a 10 in either of the three rounds.

Both boxers started the first round cautiously but judges were impressed by Sudaporn and awarded the round to her. Simranjit came out with all guns blazing in the second round, but she let her guard down in the process. Sudaporn made the most of it and got a 10-9 decision from all the judges once again. In the third round, Simranjit tried to go for the knockout but she failed to connect with either of her uppercuts.

At the end of the day, it was Sudaporn's footwork and swift movements from her leading hand that saw her get the win. She will now face Great Britain's Caroline Dubois in the quarter-finals.

And, Sudaporn takes the third round 10-9, 10-9, 10-9, 10-9, 10-9 as well. She advances to the quarter-finals. Simranjit bows out in the R16. Sudaporn wins the contest 5-0 via unanimous decision.

It doesn't matter what the judges award the score. Sudaporn has already won it. Simranjit is OUT! She fails to get the knockout.

3rd Round: Simranjit's eyes tells it all. She knows it is all over. Sudaporn meanwhile is going all out now.

3rd Round: Sudaporn's footwork is marvelous. She has been able to evade most of Simranjit's punches like that.

Again, all the five judges award the round to Sudaporn. Simranjit has lost it almost. The only way she can win the bout is if she gets a knockout.

2nd Round: Into the thirty seconds and Simranjit still looks far behind.

2nd Round: Sudaporn is landing the first punch cleanly and Simranjit is trying to reply. However, she is missing her target.

2nd Round: Both boxers are going all out. Thailand is landing some punches cleanly but India is missing most of hers.

A very close contest but all five judges have awarded it to Thailand's Sudaporn. 10-9, 10-9, 10-9, 10-9, 10-9. India's Simranjit Kaur is trailing.

1st Round: Sudaporn tries to land some punches but she gets it on the body. Very few punches have landed on the face from both boxers.

1st Round: Sudaporn gets one jab right. It has been more about misses than connection so far.

1st Round: Both have started the bout on a cautious note. More focus on defense than attack.

The bout between USA and Great Britain has ended. And, the referee raises the hand of Great Britain's Caroline Dubois. If Simranjit wins her match, she will face Caroline in the quarter-finals. The 2019 World Championships bronze medallist Rashida is out.

This will be the first time Simranjit Kaur will lock horns with Sudaporn. Who will come out on top?

Simranjit's opponent Sudaporn Seesondee won the silver medal in the 2018 Asian Games at the lightweight category and followed it with a silver medal in the 2018 World Championships in New Delhi in the lightweight category. This will be her first Olympics.

Algeria has beaten Tunisia. It will be USA vs Great Britain now. Following it will be India's Simranjit Kaur vs Thailand's Sudaporn Seesondee.
