WWE RAW Live Results (July 29th, 2024): Damian Priest saves former World Champion after intense main event

Priest with the save!! Can he save his title this weekend?!

The bell rings, but Gunther keeps the hold in. Damian Priest rushes to the ring to save his stablemate, hammering his challenger with huge shots. Gunther is pounded into the announcer's desk by the World Heavyweight Champion. They continue to brawl as the feed cuts.

Balor scratches and claws to escape the hold. Gunther breaks it again and plants Balor with a powerbomb. Balor continues to struggle, but Gunther puts his entire weight on his seated opponent. It's over.

Gunther defeats Finn Balor via submission.

Another slingblade is countered by another sleeper, but Balor breaks away. Two double stomps to the chest and one to the spine leave Gunther in prime position for the shotgun dropkick!! As Balor goes up top for Coup de Grace, Gunther rolls away. Another sleeper is locked in.

Gunther is dropped with the Nightmare on Helms Street but kicks out again. Balor's slingblade attempt fails as Gunther catches him for a sleeper hold. The latter breaks it before Balor can and slams him for another near fall. Balor counters a powerbomb and hits the slingblade!

Gunther goes for an avalanche back suplex, only for Finn to counter into a high-angle cross-body in mid-air!! It's not enough to secure a pin, but it's enough to give Balor a little momentum.

Gunther is taking his time tearing apart Balor. After a back suplex fails to get the win, Gunther snaps in a Boston Crab. Balor struggles and pulls toward the ropes, managing to break the submission. Gunther takes Balor up top. What's he planning?

The King General in total domination of The Prince

Gunther is taken off his feet with a headlock takeover twice by Finn Balor. The Prince takes the King General to the corner for a few chops but is nearly turned inside out by one!! Balor blocks the powerbomb and rocks Gunther with a running dropkick. As Balor plays to the crowd, Gunther gets to his feet and takes his head off with a boot!

Finn Balor's jealousy and anger are starting to show...

This is a match we were originally supposed to see at TakeOver Tampa back in 2020 for the NXT UK Championship, but Covid put a halt to it. Tonight, we finally see this epic match for the first time in WWE.

Backstage, Judgment Day is licking their wounds after some tough losses tonight. Finn Balor says he'll make sure to end the night on a high with a win over Gunther.
Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest tell him that they'll be happy to help, but Balor takes offense. "What, you think I'm not good enough? At SummerSlam, Rhea's going it alone. At SummerSlam, Damian's going it alone. Tonight, I'm gonna do the same."

Finn vows to soften Gunther up for Damian Priest before their World Heavyweight Championship match.

As Shayna, Zoey, and Sonya mock their opponents, Damage CTRL's music hits!! They're back!! They take out all three and lay them out on the floor with the Over the Moonsault from IYO SKY!!

Zoey Stark avoids the After Party thanks to Shayna, who pulls Kayden to the floor. Z360 connects to Katana Chance, and that's a game!

Zoey tags in, but the Party Girls light her up before Lyra plants her with a deadlift sit-out powerbomb. Shayna and Sonya rock her mid-pin, giving Zoey a nearfall.

Back from the break, Kayden Carter is rocking Shayna Baszler with a series of kicks. The Queen of Spades is dazed and can't avoid a springboard leg drop from Carter.

During the match, Joe Hendry's NXT concert is advertised. It's fun to see Joe Hendry getting some shine on RAW, even if it's just a small advert in the corner of the screen.

When Zoey tags in, she hits a great springboard missile dropkick but can't stop her opponent from tagging out. Lyra and the Party Girls take turns kicking Zoey before sending her to the floor. Kayden rocks her with a superkick, and Lyra follows with a wrecking ball dropkick. The three pose in the ropes as Zoey tries to shake the stars out of her vision.

Sonya Deville and Shayna Baszler tag in and out early, working over Lyra. Michael Cole mentions that Shayna "dominated" at GCW Bloodsport over the weekend.

Lyra Valkyria, Katana Chance, and Kayden Carter take on Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler, and Zoey Stark next.

The Vulture is circling Chad Gable and the Creeds

Backstage, Gable and the Creeds meet with General Manager Adam Pearce. "I know who three of the Wyatts are. Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, and Erick Rowan."

Pearce: "...yeah...I know that. They're under contract."

Gable then asks for a six-man match against them next week. Pearce agrees. The Wyatt Sicks' in-ring debut is next week!

We see another tape from Uncle Howdy and the Wyatts. This time, the subject of this therapy session is Dexter Lumis.

"They laughed as they watched you drown. But there's a silver lining in sinking. Look at what you've become. Tell me, what should they do when the Buzzard starts circling?"

"RUN!!"

Sami is able to counter one spear with a boot! He launches Bron into the corner with the exploder, but Bron gets to the floor before the Helluva Kick can connect.

As he rushes back in when Sami turns his back, Sami catches him with the Helluva Kick. Bron...struggles to clear the ropes, forcing Sami to shove him over for good measure.

Jey Uso makes the save as Judgment Day tries to batter Zayn. He hits a dive to the floor, leaving Sami open to an attack from Bron Breakker!

Carlito and JD McDonagh come down before Zayn can hit the Helluva Kick. Dom goes for a cheap pin, but Sami breaks out. He avoids the 619 and plants Dom with the Blue Thunder Bomb!! But...Judgment Day breaks it up.

Dom catches Zayn on the floor in the ropes, choking the champion to get an edge. Zayn manages to catch him with a clothesline and goes for the Blue Thunder Bomb. Dom escapes, planting Zayn with the Three Amigos. As he goes for the Frog Splash, Sami rolls out of the way and launches him into the post with the exploder suplex!

Dominik Mysterio and Sami Zayn start off the fifth match of the night. Dom continues to play to the crowd to annoy Sami. It works... for a moment. Sami manages to send Dom to the floor and follows with the Asai Moonsault! The Intercontinental Champion is on fire!

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned...

We get a package from Liv Morgan, who is burning all the pictures, shirts, and whatnot from her "relationship" with Dom in a barrel. She says that her heart was broken, and it took her breath away. She's going to get revenge, and that means completing the Liv Morgan Revenge tour at SummerSlam. She's going to end Mami and make Dom wish he had chosen her.

Sami Zayn is interviewed backstage ahead of his match with Dominik Mysterio tonight. He says that Bron Breakker is, of course, taking him seriously now. He's speared him every week since Money in the Bank—cheap shot after cheap shot. He gets it, he's a young kid looking to make an impact. Well, he's going to handle business with Dom right now, and at SummerSlam, he's going to take Bron down again.

Woods takes Kross down but is distracted by AOP. When he goes for the Limit Break elbow drop, Kross avoids it. The Final Chapter connects.

Karrion Kross defeats Xavier Woods via pinfall.

Back from the break, Kross is back in control. While we see how he managed that (tossing Woods into the ring post), Kross screams that Woods is a loser and the worst King of the Ring winner in WWE history.

Worst? Come on...Maybe?

Xavier Woods and Karrion Kross are up next. Before the match, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee revealed that Kofi Kingston returned during WWE's Japan tour and re-injured his shoulder. Kross mocks the injury, claiming that Kofi is hiding. He wants Woods to join them today and tell the kids at home that the power of positivity doesn't work.

When he mocks Kofi's six-second WWE Title loss to Brock Lesnar, Woods fires up and lays into him! Woods sends him to the floor and follows with a wrecking ball dropkick! The former KOTR winner is on fire!

Zelina Vega is interviewed backstage about her issues with Sonya Deville, Zoey Stark, and Shayna Baszler. Zelina got a win over Zoey last week, and thanks the Party Girls for the help. She says she'd be happy to do it again, leading to the trio showing up and attacking her. Zoey's sporting a new brunette look.

They set her injured arm up against the door, and Shayna boots it into the wood!! Noooo!!

Carlito takes a few bites out of his apple but is cut down with a spear!!

Back from the break, Carlito catches Jey bouncing off the ropes with a TKO! Jey kicks out and struggles to his feet in the corner. He avoids a big splash from Carlito and lights up on the former United States Champion with a series of rights. The step-up enziguiri rocks Carlito, but he manages to avoid a corner splash and a flying crossbody.

Carlito plants Jey with a big-time spinebuster for another near fall!!

Jey Uso starts the match with Carlito hot. The latter is taken to the floor and laid out by Jey. Back in the ring, Carlito pulls Uso by his pants into the ring post-shoulder-first. He follows with a rope-elevated swinging neckbreaker, taking over before the break.

We get a promo from Bron Breakker, who claims that he took Sami Zayn lightly at Money in the Bank. "I thought I was in the ring with a comedian. Rookie mistake. My fault." He promises to end Sami's reign on Saturday and break The Underdog from the Underground in front of millions of WWE fans around the world.
