WWE RAW Live Results (September 9th, 2024): Top champion's challenger FINALLY revealed; BRUTAL stipulation returning for bitter feud

Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker. Can Jey FINALLY win his first singles title?

What do you get when you combine a Monster and a Colossus?

Dunne batters Ilja and sets up for the Bitter End. Ilja escapes, rocks Dunne with the boot, and plants him with a powerbomb! The H-Bomb connects, but before he can get the win he gets his teeth kicked down his throat by Jey Uso! Uso Splash to Pete!!

Jey Uso defeats Pete Dunne via pinfall.

Back in the ring, Jey Uso cuts Ilja in half with the spear! Before he can secure the win, Pete Dunne sends Jey to the floor! 1-2-no! Ilja kicks out, leaving Dunne furious amidst a crowd erupting with "This is Awesome" chants!

Braun clears the table off, only to be met by a Tsunami! He turns away from the table, and Bronson Reed crashes into Braun! One week after being removed from this tournament due to COVID, the Colossal One at least manages to cause some havoc this week!

Thanks to Dunne, Braun is now able to take over. The Monster of All Monsters runs right through all three of his competitors with the Strowman Express!

During the break, Ilja Dragunov and Jey Uso manage to clear the ring after disposing of Pete Dunne. It's the YEET Man vs. the Mad Dragon. Dragunov pelts Jey with a series of nasty strikes and follows with the Constantine Special! Dunne, who is now busted open, breaks up the fall.

Shawn Michaels probably popped on that superkick!!

Ilja rocks Pete with a leaping enziguri that sends him into the corner. As Ilja goes for the Coast to Coast, he's nearly kicked out of his boots with a superkick from Jey Uso! Somehow, some way, Ilja kicks out!

Jey avoids a running shoulder block from Braun that sends the big man shoulder-first into the steel post. Jey sets his sights on Pete Dunne, only for the Bruiserweight to go for the fingers AGAIN! Braun climbs through the ropes and chokes Dunne before being hammered with a flying dropkick by Dragunov!

On the floor, the three send Strowman crashing hard into the steel steps. With The Monster of all Monsters finally off his feet, the other competitors get back in the ring. Pete plants Ilja with the X-Plex after bouncing Jey's face off the ring post but can't secure the win.

Braun attempts to launch him over the ropes with a choke bomb, but Pete goes after the fingers. Braun shakes off his grubby hands and manages to chuck him to the floor, knocking over Ilja and Jey in the process.
During the break, Ilja, Jey, and Pete chop down the former Universal Champion's legs, but they cannot keep him down.

All four men brawl, but soon, only one is left standing. Braun Strowman dominates until his three opponents team up to bring the "Big S.O.B." down. Pete Dunne, Ilja Dragunov, and Jey Uso go at it in the ring, with the Bruiserweight getting the better of Main Event Jey and the Mad Dragon. However, Braun quickly returns to the ring as Dunne celebrates a bit too early.

Balor brutalizes Rey after the match, launching him off the apron into the ring post with a shotgun dropkick. After Rey gets to his feet, Balor runs down the ramp and hits another. Balor may have injured the Hall of Famer tonight...

Rey Mysterio still amazing us after three decades!

Rey starts firing up on the inside after rocking Balor with a leaping kick to the head. The diving senton and springboard crossbody connect. Rey hits a 619 to Finn's stomach and goes for another.

Balor catches the second 619 and drops him sternum first in the ropes. He slingshots Rey in between the ropes before trapping him in a high-angle single-leg Boston Crab. Rey's surgically repaired leg is torn to shreds. Because he's using the ropes, though, the ref calls for the bell!

Finn Balor gets the better of Rey Mysterio early, rocking him with a running forearm smash. Balor keeps the pressure up, stomping out the father of his stablemate. As he sets up for some punches in the corner, Rey slips through his legs and drops him face-first on the turnbuckle! Rey knocks Balor to the floor and hits a gorgeous crossbody! Never count out Rey Mysterio!

Balor seems dazed by that one, may have hit his head on the floor.

Finn Balor takes on Rey Mysterio next as the leaders of Judgment Day and LWO aim to knock each other off in an exciting match-up. Both groups are banned from ringside, with Pearce hoping to give fans a clear and concise victor.

Good luck with that, Pearce.

Backstage, Karrion Kross is trying to swing The Miz to join his side. Xavier Woods interrupts and tries to stop it before it gets too far. Miz, though, knows the game. "You think I don't know what he's doing? I invented that!"

Pearce says he spoke with Punk today, and his demise has been greatly exaggerated. Not only is Punk not done...he's not done with Drew. So it's going to end at Bad Blood. Pearce is happy to make this announcement because he knows this is going to be the end of this feud. In Atlanta, GA, Drew and Punk face off in Hell in a Cell!

It's not just Hart Country, it's Punk Country...and Drew is loving it!

Drew says that Wade is one of his few friends. "Hell, we were arrested together." He questions why Wade got in his way last week but states he's not angry. Merely disappointed. He threatens Wade, though, saying the next time, he will be angry and he'll do "something" about it. Wade takes his headset off and stands up face-to-face with Drew. Before it can go too far, RAW GM Adam Pearce interrupts.

Drew McIntyre is out next, and he mocks the fans for chanting CM Punk. "Go ahead, I'll do it with you! CM Punk! CM Punk!" He says now those words don't bother him. The chants don't bother him because, at this point, they're just done in memory of Punk, who isn't coming back.

"I am the one that ended CM Punk's career," Drew states it like a fact with a cheeky little smile. He's got his eyes on the World Heavyweight Championship. He's got a movie coming out where he stars alongside Dave Batista. There's a lot to get to...but he's also got to say something to Wade Barrett.

We see Nattie celebrating with her partners backstage when Bret Hart walks in. They hug, and Bret says, "This is a real Nattie moment."

Sure.

There is nothing quite as exciting as a Sharpshooter in Canada!

Natalya finally tags in, and the crowd leaps to their feet for a member of the Hart Dynasty! Nattie manages to capture Zoey with the Sharpshooter. The PFC attempt to break it up, but Zelina Vega and Lyra Valkyria both lock Shayna and Sonya in a Boston Crab and single-leg Boston Crab, respectfully.

Natalya defeats Shayna Baszler via submission.

The match starts off well for the PFC, who sends Zelina Vega to the floor while they take turns kicking her around. Zelina struggles to get to her corner throughout the break, but the numbers game is a bit too much. Joe Tessitore mentions that this is the first six-person tag she's ever been in, which might be why she's in so much trouble.

Lyra Valkyria and Zelina Vega have a hard battle ahead as they take on the PFC. Luckily for them, they've got an incredible mystery partner in Natalya Neidhart!!

As we get set for the next match, The Pure Fusion Collective takes on Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega, and a mystery opponent. Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett touch on the tragic deaths of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. We're shown Jackie Redmond, who is at a memorial where fans of "Johnny Hockey" have left gifts, jerseys, and his favorite snacks in his honor and memory.

It's a touching moment from WWE, who spend their last minutes before going to break honoring him and his brother.

Dom is left in the tree of woe, where his former NXT rival nearly takes his head off with a leaping stomp to the face. LWO and Judgment Day brawl after JD McDonagh places Dom's foot on the ropes. While the ref's distracted, Liv takes out Lee's leg, allowing Dom to hit the 619 and a Frog Splash. Dom blows Liv another kiss before the splash.

Dirty Dominik Mysterio defeats Dragon Lee via pinfall.

Dragon Lee sends Dom into the corner and hits a delayed shotgun dropkick to set up the sit-out powerbomb. Dom avoids it at first but is eventually caught and slammed square in the middle of the ring for a near fall. Dom also gets a close call with a Michinoku Driver.

Dirty Dom catches a flying Dragon Lee with a missile dropkick, knocking the former NXT North American Champion out of the air. Dom tosses him to the floor and jumps up on the turnbuckle to blow his lady a kiss.

Next up is a one-on-one match between LWO's Dragon Lee and Judgement Day's Dominik Mysterio.

Backstage, Bron Breakker meets one of his other possible contenders tonight, Pete Dunne. After warning the Bruiserweight of the impending doom that is Breakker, Pete is assaulted by Sheamus.

Sami gets the better of the fight, forcing the World Champion to back off with his tail between his legs. We still don't have a match at Bad Blood for Gunther...but how long can he duck Sami?

Bret grabs the mic and stops Gunther in his tracks. "That doesn't look like a champion to me. That looks like a coward! A gutless, yellow coward!" Gunther removes his blazer as Sami meets him on the floor. We've got a brawl!!

That Goldberg line is the last straw, and Sami Zayn enters the arena wearing a Johnny Gaudreau Calgary Flames jersey. Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were tragically killed on August 29th when they were hit by an alleged drunk driver while cycling in New Jersey. A nice tribute for a player, and father, gone too soon.

Zayn mocks Gunther for running away from his challenge and belittles him for even daring to mock the legendary Bret Hart. He once again challenges Gunther for the gold with all of Calgary behind him.

Gunther says, with all due respect, Bret isn't in his league, and Sami's nowhere near the Hitman...let alone The Ring General. Gunther's answer? It's still no.

Gunther says that he's pouring his heart out to his childhood hero. He says Bret's the best there ever was...but Gunther's the best there is and the best there ever will be. Now that all that's out of the way, Gunther wants to let Bret know that he'll always be a "close second" to his actual favorite...Bill Goldberg!!
