WWE SmackDown Live Results (October 20, 2023): Jey Uso in big trouble, huge return, John Cena teases retirement!

Damage CTRL beat down Charlotte Flair post-match, but Bianca Belair returns to SmackDown to fight them off! She attempts to hit the KOD on IYO, but Bayley saves the champion! The Role Model then gets planted instead.

Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair stand tall to end the show, but Flair is frustrated by her loss.

SKY counters the Boston Crab with a pin for a near fall. The two women trade some big blows and Flair lands hard on her knee at one point. IYO takes advantage and goes for the Over The Moonsault but Charlotte gets her feet up! IYO lands hard and Charlotte hits a massive Spear!

It should be over but Bayley put IYO's foot on the bottom rope. In a fit of rage, Charlotte beats up Bayley ringside. She then rolls back into the ring to spear IYO, but SKY had the title in hand! Charlotte ran head first into the title but the referee was distracted. SKY then pins Charlotte!

Both women meet in the middle of the ring, and Charlotte hits multiple big chops. SKY eventually goes for a crossbody but gets caught and hit with a fallaway slam. Charlotte immediately slams IYO again and kips up! She charges for IYO in the corner but gets booted. SKY jumps at Charlotte, but The Queen catches her yet again.

Charlotte hits SKY with a massive Samoan drop off the top rope for the nearfall! IYO rolls to the apron, and Charlotte goes for a big boot, but SKY moves. SKY springboards into the ring for a dropkick, but Charlotte catches her with a Boston Crab!

Jey Uso vs. Damian Priest, Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre, and Becky Lynch vs. Indi Hartwell are confirmed for RAW as we return from break!

Charlotte Flair was attempting a superplex but gets hit with a huge sunset flip powerbomb instead. IYO follows it up with big knees in the corner, but Flair kicks out at two! IYO eventually locks in a crossface, but Charlotte gets her hand out quickly. She counters things and suplexes IYO. Both women are laid out.

IYO tries to wear down Charlotte back in the ring while the crowd gets behind The Queen. Charlotte uses the momentum to hit a big backdrop on SKY. Flair then hits a big kick on The Genius of the Sky.

Michael Cole constantly mentions how impressed he is with IYO. SKY uses her legs not long after to take Charlotte to the floor. She attempts a rana off the apron, but Flair catches SKY and slams her onto the apron as we go to break again with both women outside the ring.

Back from break, WWE again hammers home that SmackDown will be on FS1 instead of FOX next week.

Charlotte Flair is in control in the ring, slamming IYO using her legs. While Flair dominates, Bayley grabs The Queen's leg, and IYO takes control, including hitting a beautiful dive.

Big in-ring introductions ahead of this title match. It is being treated as very important. The bell rings, and Charlotte quickly attempts to gain control, only for IYO to rush out of the ring as we go to break.

If Charlotte Flair dethrones IYO SKY tonight, she'll make history as the first woman to become a 15-time world champion. Can she do it?

Next up, IYO SKY comes out with Bayley and Dakota Kai. Commentary announces that Crown Jewel sold out in just hours, but they're working to open up more seats. Wow!

Owens talks about people he wants to wrestle with, including The Brawling Brutes, Rey Mysterio, and others. He then teases Cathy, asking if she wants to punch Theory.

After the interview, Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio vs. The Street Profits were confirmed for next week! The contract signing between Roman Reigns and LA Knight was again confirmed.

Charlotte Flair's music hit next, and it looks like it may be main event time!

Back from break, WWE hypes up Bad Bunny DLC for the latest game, plus they promote his new album.

Earlier today, Cathy Kelley was talking to Kevin Owens in the arena before fans were allowed in. He's asked about being split up from Sami and says it doesn't feel great. He also believes he and Zayn didn't get a fair chance to get them back. Still, he's happy for a clean slate.

The commentary team looks back at Kevin Owens joining SmackDown last week.

Next up, Owens has a sit-down interview with Cathy Kelley, which is promised to be explosive. There is another Royal Rumble plug before commercials begin again.

Back from break, Dragon Lee counters a double-team move from A-Town Down Under. He then tags in Cameron Grimes! Grimes hits a big cross body and starts taking out his opponents. He throws big kicks and hits a German Suplex on Theory for the nearfall. Lee gets back in the ring to stop double-teaming, and Lee then hits a beautiful dive on Waller!

Grimes hits his moonsault crossbody on Theory but only gets a two-count. Austin rakes Grimes eyes while Waller tosses Lee into the timekeeper's area. This allows Austin to hit A-Town Down on Cameron, and that's a wrap.

A-Town Down Under defeats Cameron Grimes and Dragon Lee by pinfall

Commentary proceeds to put over the winners on commentary.

Dragon Lee quickly one-ups both Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Grimes and Lee then hit some excellent double-team action against A-Town Down Under. The two teams brawl outside of the ring and both of the cocky stars are thrown face-first into the ring post as we go to break again.

Back from break, Cameron Grimes makes his way out. He's joined by the impressive Dragon Lee. Both men have some of the best theme songs. The commentary team recaps the issues between the two duos from two weeks ago.

The commentators also noted that Austin Theory and Grayson Waller kept bugging Nick Aldis for this match.

Austin Theory again claims A-Town Down Under is the greatest team ever. They'll be battling Dragon Lee and Cameron Grimes NEXT!

We had to the commercial before Lee and Grimes could enter.

A hype video airs for IYO SKY vs. Charlotte Flair later tonight. This should be a great match. Charlotte notes she's coming for her 15th world title.

Grayson Waller's music plays, and he's wearing his ring gear. Austin Theory is out next. It looks like A-Town Down Under is in action!

Rey Mysterio is very popular. He's also wearing a very cool black mask. Commentary mentioned Logan beating Rey in a tag team match, but not one-on-one. Mysterio compares Logan to Dirty Dom, praising Logan before saying Paul and Dom both have big mouths.

Rey says that while he hesitated to whoop Dom, he won't do the same for Logan. Mysterio then agrees to a match with The Maverick at Crown Jewel! Logan puts his hand out to shake Rey's, and Mysterio reluctantly accepts. Surprisingly, Logan doesn't do anything but walks away with a cocky grin.

Logan Paul is in the ring now and mentions beating up his boxing opponent, Dillon Danis. He buried him a little more before saying if he wanted real competition, it'd be a WWE match.

He then implies Rey Mysterio is a coward who hides behind a mask. Logan says he's not here for Rey, however. He takes shots at Rey, Roman Reigns, LA Knight, and even Dirty Dominik Mysterio.

He says Rey has something he needs. Not respect or legacy, but the United States Championship. Paul said last week he beat up a "deadbeat dad," and he'll beat up another one at Crown Jewel. Rey then interrupts Logan.

WWE recaps what happened with Jey Uso, John Cena, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa. The commentary team then looked back at Jimmy Uso, costing Jey and Cody the tag team titles on RAW.

Backstage, Nick Aldis was scolding Jey Uso for showing up on SmackDown. Aldis then fired Jey. Adam Pearce was there and tried to calm the tension. Nick then demands security escort Adam Pearce and Jey Uso from the building!

Wow! Tension. "Let the games begin." WarGames teaser?

An Unholy Union vignette airs with the two specifically calling out Piper Niven and Chelsea Green! "The Unholy Union Is Coming"—very cool and creepy vignette.

Kevin Patrick said Logan Paul "beat Dillon Danis to a pulp," as highlights are shown. Then, Logan Paul is shown arriving to the building. He and Rey going face-to-face is up next!

SmackDown will be on FS1 next week. Knight-Reigns contract signing is again announced for the special edition of the blue brand.

After Jey Uso is rushed out by security, Cena hits Solo Sikoa with the AA! Jimmy and Solo quickly rush away as Cena stands tall. It's an intense and fun segment!

The commentary then looks back at Logan Paul calling Rey Mysterio out at his boxing fight.

Solo and John Cena are face to face with the crowd, loudly chanting for John. They begin to brawl immediately, but no referee is out. Jimmy Uso rushes to the ring and attacks Cena!

Both Bloodline members then beat down Cena, but Jey Uso shows up in a mask to attack Jimmy! It is pandemonium!

John reveals that he can still go, and the crowd erupts. He says it's time to turn the math around. He then says it will be a bad night for whoever comes out next. Will John Cena wrestle on SmackDown?!

Solo Sikoa's music then hits!

Cena looks pretty emotional and brings up the word retirement. The crowd was chanting for him, but the mood changed quickly. "I think it's time we all just face facts." He said it has been a long time since he's had a win. "You still got it," chants.

Cena reveals that it has been a rough day and has been hit with some harsh truths. He says he feels he should be honest with the fans and himself. Cena brings up Roman's streak as champion. John then reveals a streak of his own, 2,002 days. It has been 2,002 days since Cena last won a televised singles match. Wow!

John Cen is here! He's in the ring and notes that San Antonio is sold out and fired up. Loud Cena chants echo throughout the arena. He thanks the audience as they applaud him even louder.

Cena tries to talk, but "thank you, Cena" chants interrupt him. This is a great moment. He thanks the crowd again.

When discussing the Royal Rumble tickets earlier, Kevin Patrick stated they're the fastest-selling Royal Rumble tickets EVER.

Back from break, WWE promotes Bad Bunny hosting SNL.

A replay of Pretty Deadly defeating The Brawling Brutes last week is shown, followed by footage of Kit Wilson and Elton Prince enjoying a spa day to celebrate their big victory. Out of nowhere, Ridge Holland and Butch are shown at the spa, and they beat up Pretty Deadly, shoving their head in the water.

Backstage, Jimmy Uso shows up with Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa. He is bragging about costing Jey and Cody the tag team titles, and Paul seems annoyed. Then Cena is shown walking backstage, presumably next!

Back from break, the commentary hypes up the Royal Rumble event coming January 27th.

Backstage, Carlito is with Cruz, Joaquin, and Santos. Rey Mysterio and Zelina Vega come into frame, and Rey reveals he's rolling solo when confronting Logan Paul later.

Carlito wanting revenge on The Street Profits is good. Lashley and The Profits are still outnumbered, but they're positioned stronger than most of their opponents.

Before the commercial break, Damage CTRL was shown backstage as IYO SKY gets set for a big-time title match tonight.

Dawkins pulls Montez out of the ring, but Santos jumps out and hits a double axe handle. Dawkins hits a cheap shot to Santos when the referee is over with Ford. This leads to Cruz Del Toro fighting with Dawkins. The distraction is enough for Montez Ford to pin Santos while holding his tights!

Montez Ford defeats Santos Escobar by pinfall

The Street Profits jumped Santos post-match, but Carlito shows up with a chair and runs them off!

The crowd gets behind Santos, and he starts fighting back. He hits some big elbows, then a dropkick! Santos' comeback starts to take off with a superkick, sending Montez to the floor. Escobar then hits a beautiful dive onto the former tag team champion. Santos hits a big crossbody off the top, but Ford kicks out at 2.

Santos does his LWO gesture in the corner and hits the double knees. Ford gets out of a Phantom Driver attempt, but Santos meets him at the top rope. Escobar then hits a massive superfrankensteiner!

Back from break, Kevin Patrick states there are over 15,000 fans in attendance tonight. Montez has been in control since before the break, but the crowd is attempting to rally behind The Emperor of Lucha Libra.

Lashley is shown watching from backstage as Ford hits a leaping backward bulldog. It was incredibly unique - and impressive.

Montez takes control early on, but Santos begins to try to shift things in his favor only to be hit with a dropkick. The commentary team emphasizes how much Lashley has helped The Street Profits. Michael Cole also hypes up Logan Paul and Rey Mysterio coning face-to-face later.

Santos again starts to turn momentum in his favor only to get kicked in the head and he falls from the top rope to the floor. WWE then goes into commercial.

During Montez Ford's entrance, WWE recaps Lashley and The Street Profits beating Carlito last week. Santos is looking for revenge.

Notably, Lashley stays at the ramp and heads to the back, but Dawkins joins Ford ringside. Meanwhile, Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde returned after being brutalized by the trio a few weeks ago!

Knight demands Heyman let Roman Reigns know that he'll be the man to win at Crown Jewel.

From there, Montez Ford is seen getting hyped up for his match. Then, the LWO comes out.

SmackDown then goes to the commercial before Montez's entrance.

Knight says he won't stop until he's the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Then, he says Roman is scared. Knight calls Heyman pathetic for the manager's groveling. It is then revealed that Knight and Reigns will have a contract signing next week!

LA Knight's music hits, and the crowd explodes for his entrance. The Megastar takes Paul's mic. He says all Heyman is doing is making noise. Knight then says he needs Roman Reigns in the ring now, but Roman doesn't show.

Knight then demands Paul make those idle threats to his face. When Paul tries to leave, Knight says he'd hit Paul so hard his hair will turn grey again.

Heyman states that he dresses better than the people of Texas and makes more money, but there is a commonality. He says, "We're all fans of LA Knight." While praising Knight, the crowd starts to "YEAH." Heyman tells them not to, and the crowd erupts, doing it further. Paul then reveals Crown Jewel is a must-see, as it will be the last time fans will get to see him in the ring, thanks to Roman.

Paul says the other news is that Roman Reigns vs. LA Knight is confirmed for Crown Jewel 2023 in Saudi Arabia. This was confirmed by the LA Times earlier today.

The show kicks off with a recap of last week, specifically featuring John Cena, LA Knight, Roman Reigns, and The Bloodline. From there, the commentary team welcomes us to the show. Kevin Patrick notes that the show is sold out.

Paul Heyman is now in the ring with a microphone in hand! He praises Jimmy Uso for costing Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes their tag titles on RAW.
