WWE SmackDown Live Results (September 13, 2024): MASSIVE RETURNS! Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes face-to-face, HUGE Steel Cage Match, Bad Blood bout revealed, new contender decided!

Cody put his hand out to a huge pop from the crowd. Roman passed him the contract and Cody signed it! Oh my god! Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are going to team up at Bad Blood! Neither man seems happy about it. The show ends with Solo and Jacob looking on while there is a lot of tension between Reigns and Rhodes. What a show.

Solo and Jacob Fatu come out together. Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa show up and attack Cody and Roman form behind. Cody hits a Cody Cutter and Roman hits a Rock Bottom. Solo mocks them from outside of the ring and asks if they're friends now. Roman picks up the contract and signs it. Solo says Cody isn't going to sign it.

Yeah, we're definitely into overrun territory. Cody chants and OTC chants. The crowd is hot for this. Cody takes a microphone and questions Roman saying its his WWE. Rhodes says "it was" your WWE. He says it hasn't been Roman's since WrestleMania. He drops the microphone and stares at Roman. The two are about to throw down! Then Solo Sikoa's music hit!

Roman says with the Ula Fala or not, he is THE Tribal Chief. He says this is his ring, his show, and his WWE. Cody Rhodes' music then hits! Oh this should be interesting! He comes out with the title and stares at it.

Roman speaks for the first time since before WrestleMania. He says some things change, but not him. He says he doesn't need Aldis or some contract. Roman says this is Bloodline business. He says he doesn't need a partner and definitely not Cody Rhodes.

Back from the last break of the night and Roman Reigns is in the ring with Nick Aldis. Loud "OTC" chants. It is getting late, will SmackDown have an overrun?

Aldis says he and Roman have their own unique history and Roman puts his hand out to demand the microphone, but Aldis instead puts the contract in his hand. Roman puts his hand out again for the microphone and Aldis passes it off.

Next, Roman Reigns' music hits! He makes his way out to the ring to address the WWE Universe, the challenge made by The Bloodline, and Cody Rhodes.

That will happen next.

Next up, we are with Byron Saxton backstage with Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. They discuss being excited to be on SmackDown as champions and make it clear they'll defend any time, any place. They are then interrupted by Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton! They warn Naomi to stay out of their business. Nia says she beat both of them before, so while they're the tag team champions, SmackDown is their kingdom.

WWE also notes tonight is the 38th TV sellout and 57th event sell out this year.

Confirmed for next week:

- Bayley and Naomi vs. Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton.
- LA Knight vs. Andrade.

After Andrade's win, LA Knight's music hits! Loud "LA Knight" chants as he has a microphone in hand. He reveals that one week from tonight we'll see Andrade vs. LA Knight for the United States Championship. He goes into the typical LA Knight-isms, including his hit it and quit it phrase. Lastly, he tells Andrade he'll be laid out next week.

Andrade again climbs the ropes in an attempt to hit a Moonsault. This time he goes for a Split-legged, but Hayes avoids it! Carmelo lifts Andrade and puts Andrade on the ropes. He then hits a big knee to Andrade. Hayes attempts a rana off the top, but Andrade throws him off! A kick counters again and Andrade hits The Message off the ropes! WOW! This one is over!

Andrade defeats Carmelo Hayes by pinfall

3-2 in the series, this may be over now.

The crowd claps to hype the two men up and Andrade gets to his feet first. Andrade climbs up and goes for a Moonsault, but Melo moves. He goes for a standing one, but Carmelo puts his knees up! Carmelo then hits a tilt-a-whirl facebuster for a two! From there, The A-Champ climbs the ropes in the hopes of hitting Nothing But Net. Andrade moves and goes for The Message, but instead hits the Canadian Destroyer! Wow!

Andrade gets the crowd hyped up and hits the double knees in the corner. One, two, thr-no! Carmelo grabs the rope at the very last second to break the count.

Fans chanted "holy s" for the Andrade-Carmelo Spanish Fly spot. Back from break and Andrade is in control. He is prepping for the running knees in the corner, but Hayes stops it. He then hits a springboard attack. Hayes tries another move, but the two keep countering. Pin attempts back and forth but neither man can win.

Carmelo nails the First 48, but Andrade rebounds with his back elbow for a two count. These two never miss.

Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes

This one is starting anyway and Melo goes right at Andrade again once the bell rings. Carmelo tries to springboard, but Andrade knocks him to the floor and hits a Moonsault! They fight ringside and Hayes misses a jump off of the barricade and eats a boot. El Idolo breaks the count and goes to the barricade for a moonsault, but Melo meets him!

Spanish fly off of the barricade to the floor! Both men are hurting! Wow!

WWE Hall of Famers Ron Simmons and Teddy Long are shown. Then William Regal is in the crowd! Additionally, Bobby Roode, who is seemingly retired, is in the crowd, as is RAW's Damian Priest! All the stars are out tonight. From there, Carmelo Hayes' music hits! Andrade is out next. Before the bell, though, Carmelo jumps. Andrade knocks him down and stomps him repeatedly.

Backstage, Nick Aldis is walking and reveals to Cathy that he talked to Roman. Reigns says he plans to address everything tonight after the next match.

After the break, we get Carmelo Hayes vs. Andrade V!

Nia Jax tries to stir the pot and makes a challenge. Nia and Tiffany will take on Naomi and Bayley next week. Whichever star gets the win will then have a title shot. But... if they lose, whoever gets pinned out of Bayley and Naomi must leave SmackDown! Wow! That's a huge stipulation!

Bayley trashes Tiffany, and Stratton tries to hit her with the briefcase, but Naomi lays Tiffany out to close the segment.

Nia almost falls for the bait, but threatens Bayley saying both women will beat her down. Naomi's music then hits! The Queen of Glow says if they want to fight they can fight. She says she won't sit back and let them attack her "Bay". Naomi then says it has been awhile since she's held a title and maybe its time she does it again. Bayley seemed a little annoyed at that.

Tiffany says this is pathetic and that Nia knows better than to listen to Bayley. She says she doesn't need to beg for a title opportunity like a peasant since she's Ms. Money in the Bank. Bayley mentions beating Tiffany last week and Tiffany says its only because Nia got involved. Nia looks mad at Tiffany.

Bayley calls Nia an idiot and says Jax has had the best run of her career, but she didn't set the bar high for herself the first time. Bayley says she's glad Nia is feeling confident because she wants her rematch.

Nia says Bayley is in no position for it and she doesn't need a posse for help like Bayley had with Damage CTRL. Bayley says she won the world title on her own and asks Nia about Tiffany Stratton. This leads to Tiffany coming out.

Nia Jax is in the ring with a microphone. She talks about how easy it has been since her return, claiming winning the WWE Women's Title and Queen of the Ring Tournament was easy. She says she doesn't know who her opponent is, but she will be defending the belt at Bad Blood. The crowd is "what"ing her. Jax says she'll annihilate whoever it is.

Then Bayley's music hits!

Back from break and we get more clips from SmackDown's past. We then see King Booker and Queen Sharmell in the crowd! Additionally, RAW's Sheamus is here! Michael P.S. Hayes is also given spotlight in the crowd.

Next up, Nia Jax's music hits and she comes out not dressed to compete. She will be addressing her opponent for Bad Blood NEXT!

Backstage with Nick Aldis and Cathy Kelley, Nick reveals that Solo Sikoa has made a challenge for him and Jacob Fatu vs. Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. It is already drawn up and The Bloodline have signed it. Cody Rhodes then interrupts. He walks in and says he's done with The Bloodline and it is Roman Reigns' problem. He says he has no intention on signing it.

Nick Aldis then reveals he has to talk to Roman Reigns.

From there, Owens and Orton do the Viper schtick before hitting a Stunner and RKO simultaneously! This one is over!

R-KO defeats A-Town Down Under by pinfall

Orton and Owens pose in the ring together post-match. Owens thanks Ricky post-match.

Randy Orton goes for a rope drapped DDT, but Theory stops him. Orton goes to the floor and attacks both men. He hits Theory with a back drop onto the table and then does the same to Waller! Proper payback for earlier.

Back in the ring, Orton and Owens do the double draping DDT in tandem to A-Town Down Under. The crowd erupts!

Owens nearly gets a tag, but Orton is pulled down from the apron. A-Town Down Under takes control back as "we want Randy" chants start again. Kevin tries to fight back again, but Grayson levels him with a knee. They go to the floor, but Owens fights him off and sends Austin to the floor. He nearly gets a tag, but again, Owens is cut off.

Kevin fights them off, runs around to the other side, and tags Orton in! He's on fire!

Back from break, A-Town Down Under is in control, but Owens nails an inverted atomic drop to Theory. The crowd chants, "We want Randy," but Waller tags in and stops a tag. Owens tries fighting back and knocks Waller to the floor. He then knocks Theory down to the mat and hits a Swanton!

Theory is slammed against the announce table next, but the distraction allows Waller to clothesline The Prizefighter. The Aussie Icon then hits a back suplex onto the table to Kevin Owens ala Randy Orton.

From there, we go to break.

A-Town Down Under vs. R-KO

Orton is back on SmackDown for the first time since SummerSlam! Kevin Owens attacking Ricky was hilarious. Owens starts things off with Waller and gets the upper hand early. Theory pulls Grayson to the floor, but Orton lays him out. Orton is then pushed into the ring post, but Owens nails Waller against the table.

Kevin Owens takes a microphone and asks what A-Town Down Under are laughing at. He says his actual partner had some travel issues. Kevin says Ricky is his partner and the crowd chants for Ricky. A production assistant then tells Kevin that his partner is here. Owens says no offense and hits the stunner on Ricky only for Randy Orton's music to hit!

Vickie Guerrero's presence there is interesting since she's had some controversies. RVD, too, since he's been working with AEW off and on. Next up, A-Town Down Under's music hits. They will be taking on Kevin Owens and a mystery partner. Kevin's partner was then announced, and... it is some random hairy bald guy. Who?!

Back from break, Michael Cole hypes up Survivor Series WarGames tickets, and we look back at past SmackDown moments. He claims it is the fastest-selling ticket this year, besides WrestleMania.

WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam is in the crowd! Vickie Guerrero is also shown in the crowd. Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser from RAW are also here!

Piper and Chelsea lay Michin out, even taking a trash can into the ring. Chelsea nails Michin with the Unprettier on the trash can, flattening it. Ouch!

Michin climbs the ropes with Piper and hits a massive belly-to-back suplex off the ropes! She then nails Niven with the Eat Defeat, and Michin wins! That was quick!

Michin defeats Piper Niven by pinfall

Post-match, Chelsea immediately attacks Michin.

Next up, Michin makes her way out. She'll go one-on-one with Piper Niven, who is already ringside with Chelsea Green.

Michin vs. Piper Niven

Michin nails Piper and hits a dive immediately to the floor. She then kicks Chelsea Green in the head. From there, she pulls out a kendo stick and smashes Chelsea with it. Piper then hits a senton off of the apron onto Michin. In the ring, Piper climbs the ropes for a Vader bomb, but Michin cuts her off.

Back from break and we get a recap before going backstage to Nick Aldis with Cathy Kelley. She asks about what happened. Nick notes everybody has been separated. Nick reveals Solo Sikoa has an offer the others can't refuse. Aldis says he doesn't know what it is yet, but tonight is far from over.

Corey Graves then thanks Megan Thee Stallion for the new theme of SmackDown.

Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes stare each other down while Solo Sikoa proclaims neither are the Tribal Chief. What an epic segment after a great match.

Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa jump Roman in the ring while Fatu and Solo leave. Cody Rhodes gets back to his feet and fights off Tama and Tonga! Cody hits a CrossRhodes onto Tama and Roman hits a Spear onto Tonga. Then we get a shocking staredown between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes!

Solo has the upper hand, but the Superman Punch levels him! He goes to spear Solo, but Jacob Fatu pulls Solo out of the cage to save him.

Roman then tells The Samoan Werewolf to get into the ring with him. Fatu slowly crawls into the ring and the crowd chants "holy s" again. The two men have a staredown, but Solo then pulls Fatu out to stop the fight. Oh, we almost had it.

The O.T.C. walks out to the ring and he isn't in a hurry. He takes in the moment and enters the cage opposite of The Bloodline, notably he shuts the door behind him. What a visual.

Things turn into a brawl and he takes out Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Solo then knocks Roman down!

Michael Cole is demanding they lift the cage, but it isn't happening. Fatu hits a huge splash and then climbs the cage. He is going to dive onto Cody, but ROMAN REIGNS' MUSIC HITS! NO WAY!

While the recap was happening, The Bloodline made its way out! Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu start climbing the cage. Solo Sikoa then nails Cody Rhodes with a Samoan Spike! All four men are in the ring and beating Cody down!

The crowd is chanting "this is awesome" again. Solo goes for the Spike again, but Cody hits the CrossRhodes again and this time wins! Wow!

Cody Rhodes defeats Solo Sikoa by pinfall

Cody won fair and square! What a win. What a match.

Sikoa is getting cocky and he almost pays for it, as Cody nearly crawls out of the ring! Solo stops him, but gets nailed with The Crossrhodes! He just hits one and Sikoa manages to kick out at two. Cody climbs the cage and then turns around instead of climbing down. He hits a HUGE crossbody off of the top of the cage but Solo still kicks out at two!!

Solo attempts the Samoan Spike, but Cody hits big strikes. He then nails the Disaster Kick and The Cody Cutter for a two count! His momentum is soon cut off, though, and Solo hits a Samoan Drop! From there, he hits a huge flying splash off the ropes for a two count, but Cody manages to kick out at two!

Fans are chanting 'this is awesome', Solo is really shocking people tonight. Cody smacked Sikoa and that makes Solo snap. He hits two Spinning Solos in a row, but Cody kicks out at two.

That diving Cody Cutter was absolutely crazy. Cody again tries to climb, but Solo pulls him down. This time Sikoa starts climbing and Cody meets him and both men are on the top rope. Rhodes smashes Sikoa's head against the cage and climbs to the top. This leads to Solo Sikoa hitting A SUPERPLEX FROM CODY ON THE TOP OF THE CAGE! Loud "holy s" chants get muted quickly.

Cody is getting blood all over his hands and wrist tape. Solo starts headbutting Cody and wipes some of Rhodes' blood on himself. Sikoa powerbombs Cody against the steel cage and Rhodes gets hung up. Solo then tries to powerbomb him again, but this time Cody starts climbing the cage and dives backwards with a super Cody Cutter! WOW! That almost got Cody the win.
