WWE SmackDown Results, live recap, grades: Bloodline confront their new contenders; challenge them for a title match tonight

5-time champion is in "tears" after The Bloodline suddenly lose huge titles when masked man appears on WWE SmackDown

The Guns have won the WWE Tag Titles in their third match in the promotion. Jey Uso stays in the ring, and Jimmy makes his way to his brother. They hug it out as Roman watches on from the stage. What a night!

Talk about raising your fist! Superman punch!!

Before they can dish out any damage, a masked man attacks! It's Jey Uso!! Tama Tonga is taken out with a spear, and the Guns hit the Skull and Bones to become the NEWWWW WWE Tag Team Champions!!

Motor City Machine Guns defeat The Bloodline via pinfall. Grade: B-

The OTC and Jimmy brawl with Jacob and Solo to the back, leaving MCMG and The Tongans alone! Chris Sabin tags in and lights up Tama. A missile dropkick sends Tama across the ring, but Tama pulls the ref in the way to stop a running attack. With the ref out, the Tongans look for some chairs.

The Tongans go for a double splash, but Alex Shelley sits up just in time. As Solo gets on the apron, he's yanked off by Jimmy Uso!! Roman Reigns' music hits next as Jacob Fatu goes to work on Jimmy.

The Guns attempt to use their speed to get the better of The Tongans, but Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa bowl them over with their overwhelming size advantage. This would've been an uphill battle on any night but after a competitive match against #DIY? This decision is a death sentence.

Whelp. Nevermind. Sabin makes a stupid decision. "Any place, any time." Solo wants it to happen right here right now. Nick Aldis does his best to stop it, but the Guns aren't going to refuse.

When we come back from the break, Nick Aldis is in the ring with both groups. Solo Sikoa says there's no issue right now, but he's interrupted by the Brooklyn crowd chanting, "OTC!" He wants to introduce themselves to the new #1 contenders. Hopefully MCMG don't do anything dumb right now.

The Guns don't have much time to celebrate as The Bloodline make their way to the ring. Get out of there!!

Fairy Tale Ending and a superkick combo isn't enough for the win

It's not enough to put the former champions away. Ciampa hammers Sabin with the running knee after escaping the Cradle Shock, but it's not enough for the win. #DIY set up for Meet in the Middle. Ciampa's dragged to the floor after some miscommunication and taken out, and the legal Gargano is flattened with the Skull and Bones.

Motor City Machine Guns defeat #DIY via pinfall. Grade: A-

Shelley sets Gargano up on Ciampa's shoulders and holds them in place for a flying missile dropkick from Sabin. Some beautiful teamwork from the Guns.

Back from the break, Chris Sabin hits #DIY with a flying crossbody. Cole mentions Sabin and Shelley's accomplishments in TNA as TNA World Champions and TNA Tag Team Champions, as well as holding tag gold in Japan.

Sabin gets cut off by Gargano's slingshot spear

Ciampa tags in and gets caught in the headlock/running dropkick combination, managing to kick out of a pin attempt. Sabin and Ciampa brawl, leading to a Meet in the Middle from MCMG on the apron!!

Sabin is caught by Gargano's slingshot spear, though, and Ciampa drags Shelley to the floor for a beatdown. Just like that, #DIY are on top!

Johnny Gargano and Alex Shelley start the bout off first, with Shelley getting the best of the former champ early. Michael Cole mentions that Gargano's Garga-No Escape came from Shelley, and Cole & Graves state again that a lot of tag team offense used today comes from the creative minds of Shelley and Chris Sabin.

Next week's card is filled out a bit. On SmackDown we'll see Nia Jax and Liv Morgan meet one-on-one the day before their Crown Jewel. match. Cody Rhodes will team with Randy Orton to battle Imperium in tag action, and a competitor from each member of the WWE Women's Tag Title match will compete in a Fatal 4-Way.

It's time to find out who will face The Bloodline for the WWE Tag Team Titles. It's #DIY taking on the Motor City Machine Guns!!

Piper Niven and Chelsea Green, Meta-Four, Damage CTRL, and Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill are backstage with Adam Pearce, Ava Raine, and Nick Aldis. It's revealed that all four teams will face off at Crown Jewel in a Fatal 4-Way for the WWE Women's Tag Titles!!

Randy takes a bit too long to hand Cody the belt.

Before helping Cody to his feet, Orton grabs the WWE Championship and stares at it...for...a bit too long. We may have a hint at what's next for Cody after Crown Jewel.

Cody's had enough of all of this and says he knows when enough's enough and it's time to stop the talking and start the brawling! Cody catches Gunther with a combination and has the World Champion reeling, but Ludwig Kaiser rushes the ring to save Gunther. Before they can dish out significant damage, the WWE Champion is saved by Randy Orton!

As far as drama, the Rhodes family is all about it. "Have you met my brother?" Dustin Rhodes is gonna love that one.

"I do this for myself. Why do you do this?" Cody says that's the stupidest question he's ever been asked. He says none of this exists without all of us, and Gunther's a fool to try and stop that.

Gunther says that his big WrestleMania win was about Dusty, not Cody. He's making this match at Crown Jewel more dramatic than it is. It's about a title. It's about being the best, and Gunther is the best in this company right now.

Gunther berates Cody, again, for bringing his daughter into this feud last week. "This is about a championship, so let's focus on who is the better man."

I'm kind of with Gunther on this one.

Before Cody can even finish his entrance, Gunther's music hits. The mind games are afoot. Gunther starts things off. "So Cody...what do you wanna talk about, eh??" The Ring General is on fire tonight!!

Cody Rhodes is out first for his meeting with Gunther. The WWE Champion and the World Heavyweight Champion. But this time it's on The American Nightmare's soil! We're a little over a week away from Crown Jewel, so what's there left to say between these two before their match?

Naomi spikes Candice with an MJF Heatseaker (rope-hung kneeling piledriver) and hits a Disaster Kick for a near win. LeRae sends her to the floor with a neckbreaker in the ropes, and Indi Hartwell shoves her into the post.

Bayley's music hits as LeRae sets up for the moonsault, allowing Naomi to plant her with the Bubba Bomb for the win!!

Naomi defeats Candice LeRae via pinfall. Grade: C+

LeRae hits a step-up senton across the back of Naomi for a near fall. She eats a scorpion kick in the corner, but grabs Naomi's hair and follows with a facebuster for another two-count. Naomi's in serious trouble.

Candice takes over just before the commercial break, planting Naomi face-first on the apron with a DDT. Another win tonight could really skyrocket her to the next level.

Naomi and Candice LeRae are in action next. Naomi's been a thorn in the side of Nia Jax lately, but the WWE Women's Champion may have found a new bestie in the Women's Speed Champion. Can the Poison Pixie get another massive win tonight??

Backstage, Knight is stopped by GM Nick Aldis, who reprimands him for his actions. At Crown Jewel, he's facing both Andrade and Carmelo Hayes in a triple threat for the United States Championship!!

Backstage, Tiffany Stratton is told by Nia Jax that she's riding the bench tonight. Since she wasn't there last week, Nia won a tag match with Candice LeRae. Since the Speed Champion managed to beat Bayley, Nia's giving her the opportunity to face Naomi tonight.

LA Knight fails to count a pin for Melo after he accidentally nudges the Megastar. Melo then accidentally rocks Knight with a superkick!! Melo takes out Andrade and goes for a cover, but instead of counting, Knight drags Melo to the floor and attacks him.

In the ring, Andrade confronts Knight and gets spiked with the BFT. Melo also rolls in for a BFT, and Knight mocks them on the mic. "To Hell with Game 7!"

Andrade and Carmelo Hayes ends in a No Contest. Grade: B-

Andrade goes for The Message, but Melo blocks. Instead, Andrade spikes him with a Destroyer!! With the knees, Andrade gets a near fall!!

Back from a commercial break, Melo avoids Andrade's double knees in the corner and goes for a springboard move. Instead, Andrade jumps to meet him on the ropes and bounces off for an inverted Spanish Fly!! Incredible!

Carmelo and Andrade go back and forth early, but both are a bit distracted by LA Knight. Andrade sends Hayes to the floor, but Knight stops El Idolo from hitting a dive!! Why??

Doesn't matter. While Knight counts Hayes, Andrade flies over the champion for a beautiful tope!

Knight is wearing his United States Championship over his referee shirt, and his sleeveless vest over the belt...DURING the match! The man knows style.
