Four major issues with the Minecraft The Garden Awakens update
1) Where are all the achievements?
One of the most glaring issues observed with the upcoming Minecraft The Garden Awakens update is the lack of any new achievements. Accolades are a major part of the game, with players going to insane lengths to be completionists and "catch 'em all". But the latest update does not introduce any such advancements or progressions.
These advancements are a great source of motivation for players to complete certain tasks or explore areas in-game. But without any such rewards for their efforts, it is rather demotivating to hunt for the pale garden, which has turned out to be rather elusive.
2) Reveal thyself, Pale Garden
The pale garden has become notoriously difficult to find, with players relying on some of the best seeds to look for the biome. As a biome that is supposed to be the highlight of the new Minecraft The Garden Awakens update, the game needs to marginally improve its spawn rate.
The difficulty in finding this elusive biome has dejected many players, making them resort to different ways to discover the pale garden. Pair that with the lack of any achievements once you reach the biome, no wonder it feels like more hassle than is worth it.

3) You can just build your own Pale Garden
One of the most glaring issues with the update is how easily you can recreate major features from the upcoming game drop. You can visit the pale garden once and harvest Pale Oak wood as well as the creaking heart. Once you have both, you can just build your own pale garden and keep farming the items to create unlimited Pale Oak and creaking.
This essentially defeats the purpose of visiting the biome more than once. Apart from the eyeblossom, which you can also purchase from a wandering trader, the biome has no other use. The lack of any unique structures or defining features makes it even less appealing to visit after the initial joy of finally locating the biome in the Minecraft The Garden Awakens update.
Additionally, the creaking mob does not drop any special loot or item that can be used or collected. Apart from the resin which you can easily farm as well, the biome offers no such exclusive feature that cannot be recreated or enjoyed elsewhere. Paired with the difficulty of finding the biome, players might just resort the creating it rather than spend hours looking for the arena.

4) Pale Garden feels like an elaborate skin
Despite the pale garden being the crowning jewel of the Minecraft The Garden Awakens update, the upcoming biome just feels like a reskin of the dark forest that ran out of color — like a printer with a depleted cartridge. The overarching Pale Oak tree is just a lighter version of the dark oak tree without any significant changes or unique properties.
Even the pale moss and the pale hanging moss are just desaturated versions of the regular moss and vines, making it feel like a retro version of the dark oak forest rather than a new biome. The only significant introductions in the Minecraft The Garden Awakens update are the eyeblossom flower and the resin block but they do not justify an entire biome.
As with all updates, Minecraft is known to listen to player feedback and make changes to improve the gameplay experience. So, players can look forward to more features making their way to the in-game. Additionally, in the latest announcement for the Minecraft The Garden Awakens update, Mojang also teased a few surprises that could redeem the pale garden and its features.
The Minecraft The Garden Awakens update releases globally on December 3, 2024, on Bedrock and Java editions for all compatible platforms. You can follow the 1.21.4 countdown to know how long you have to wait till you can uncover the secrets of this new biome.
