The full list of additions and tweaks in the patch notes is a fairly lengthy one, but there are certainly some notable aspects of these notes that deserve to be highlighted for players' awareness.

With that in mind, it doesn't hurt to take a look at some highlights and some of the best changes and features added to this new Minecraft Bedrock Preview, just in case players haven't had the time to scan the full set of Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.30.22 Beta and Preview patch notes.

Five of the best features, changes, and fixes in Minecraft Preview 1.21.30.22

1) The screenshot button

Depending on the platform players are enjoying Minecraft Bedrock on, getting screenshots can be difficult. While capturing screenshots on PC or Android/iOS mobile devices is simple enough without assistance, the same can't be said for consoles, and it appears that Mojang is making an effort to bridge the gap between platforms.

Available on the pause menu, players in this Preview will have access to a new button that will screenshot the current state of the screen and then be deposited in a player's profile. From there, players can share their screenshots, view them in full screen, or delete unwanted ones as well.

Whatever the case, this dedicated screenshot button in Minecraft Bedrock should help players share their works regardless of platform.

2) Java naming parity

Mojang has gone through strident efforts as of late to bring multiple aspects of Minecraft Bedrock and Java together to bring a sense of cohesion in the gameplay of both. With Preview 1.21.30.22, Mojang has taken another step by renaming a substantial number of items and blocks in Bedrock Edition to reflect their Java counterparts.

In addition to the slew of renamed blocks and items, stone mason villagers have been renamed masons to match Java Edition. All in all, this should help avoid confusion between items, blocks, and other aspects of gameplay for players who regularly enjoy both editions of the game.

3) A new parameter for the /reload command

Some Minecraft fans may be well aware of the /reload command, which can reload the functions and scripts of Bedrock Edition's resource and behavior packs. However, that's only the beginning, as Preview 1.21.30.22 introduced a new addition to the /reload command known as "/reload all" which will not only restart resource and behavior packs but will also force players to exit and rejoin the world.

This particular addition to the command should be highly useful for players who run servers, realms, or LAN worlds where several resource/behavior packs are used, just in case any unexpected issues occur.

4) A mooshroom spawning fix

Dating back to multiple versions of Minecraft Bedrock including 1.20, 1.17.10, and 1.18.2 Hotfix, mooshrooms have had some difficulties with their spawning behavior. For one reason or another, a bug has been present in Bedrock where mooshroom mobs would only spawn at a light level below 11 when they should theoretically be able to spawn at any light level above nine.

Fortunately, this bug has been fixed in Preview 1.21.30.22, and mooshrooms should now spawn as they were intended to.

5) Realistic waves in the Deferred Technical Preview

Bedrock's Deferred Technical Preview is a way to try out some of the visual improvements that are natively compatible with previews thanks to the Renderdragon engine. While the Deferred Technical Preview already supported things like ray tracing (RTX) and physics-based rendering (PBR) in shaders, Preview 1.21.30.22 has introduced a new natively supported feature.

Specifically, through the use of the Deferred Technical Preview and the right resource packs, players can now render realistic water tides and waves in Bedrock previews, signaling another step toward improving the game's visuals with the Renderdragon engine.
