Minecraft has announced an upcoming game drop that promises new features like ambient updates, pig variants, and more. Mojang is set to deliver some much-awaited additions, but there’s always room for improvement. By listening to the community and implementing these ideas, it could deliver a Minecraft update that players will remember for years to come.

With that said, here are five changes and additions that Mojang should consider for the upcoming update.

5 tweaks that Minecraft's upcoming game drop should get

1) Fallen and dying trees for Java

Currently exclusive to Bedrock, fallen and dying trees bring more realism to the game’s forests. Dying trees feature exposed logs covered in vines and can be found as dark oak, jungle, spruce, or small oak trees. They follow the same growth pattern as normal trees, but have minor aesthetic differences; this creates more diversity.

Fallen trees consist of a single upright log or stump, with horizontal logs scattered nearby. These can be generated in oak, spruce, birch, or jungle tree varieties. These variations, if added, would create a more dynamic forest environment in the Java edition.

2) A few more pig variants

Mojang’s addition of the new cold and warm pig variants is a great start, but the variety feels limited compared to the number of wolf variants already in the game. Players have suggested adding more pig types, such as the muddy pig from Minecraft Earth, a fan favorite known for its charming and clumsy appearance.

Including additional variants would make the update feel more substantial and cater to the community’s love for unique mobs.

3) Diverse vegetation and block generation

One of the more frequent community requests is for more diverse vegetation and block generation to make biomes look natural and immersive. While overhauling block generation entirely might be a significant challenge, Mojang could introduce existing blocks to barren Minecraft biomes to improve their visual appeal.

In the above image, Redditor u/Timbascool shared a cool concept for improving the forest ambiance, showcasing how small tweaks could transform the environment. Adding features like mushrooms, shrubs, or even patches of moss could make each biome feel more distinct and alive.

4) Better-looking leaf litter

The new leaf litter feature is a welcome addition, but it could use some improvements. The current design doesn’t blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment in every biome. Mojang could add biome-specific variations of leaf litter or redesign it to better suit different landscapes.

Alternatively, improving vegetation diversity could naturally make the leaf litter feel like it is a part of the game’s biomes without making significant changes. These tweaks would make this new feature more visually appealing.

5) Variants for other mobs

While pigs are getting new variants and the wolves have already gotten some, other classic Minecraft mobs deserve some love too. The moobloom, a yellow cow covered in flowers, has been a long-requested addition by fans. This mob would pair perfectly with the upcoming wildflowers, which makes it an ideal candidate for the update.

Other cow variants from the different spin-off games could also be added. Chickens are overdue for new variants as well. The rainbow sheep from Minecraft Earth in the vanilla game would be a fun and colorful addition that players would be happy about.

The upcoming Minecraft game drop could become one of the best ones that Mojang has ever added if it makes a few changes and includes some additional features.
