When Mojang Studios introduced trial chambers with the Minecraft 1.21 update, they also added naturally generated decorated pots. These pots can be found in various corners of the structure, with unique pottery sherds on them. However, when players try to break them, they can be surprised to see loot inside.

These naturally generated pots can contain items like arrows, lapis lazuli, bones, and even rare loot like diamonds and emeralds, with the latter having a 35% chance of being in these decorated pots.

2) Decorated pot can itself be obtained without silk touch

Most blocks in Minecraft break when mined with regular tools or hands. Players usually need silk touch enchantment on tools to break the block and obtain it in its original form. For decorated pots, however, they are a certain type of block that drops itself when a player breaks it without any tool.

Hence, if players want a decorated pot but do not have a silk touch enchanted tool, they can simply left-click on the block and obtain it as it is. The rest of the content inside decorated pots will drop as normal items as well.

3) Decorated pot can only store a stack of a single type of item

While the decorated pot can be categorized as a storage block, it does not have all the features. Storage blocks are usually able to store all different items at once. However, this does not apply to decorated pots since they can only store a stack of a single type of item.

If a player tries to place another type of item, the pot will deny its entry and not store it.

4) Decorated pot has a special animation to accept or deny items

As mentioned above, decorated pots can only take one stack worth of items in Minecraft. Along with this feature, Mojang Studios even added a subtle but unique animation to these blocks. When players add the first item to the decorated block, it will slightly wobble in a circular motion. This means that the decorated pot has successfully stored the item.

However, if players try to put another type of item into it, it will slightly wobble side to side, as if it is saying "no" to the item.

This is a great addition by the developers, especially since the block does not have a GUI like other storage blocks.

5) Redstone comparator can read decorated pots' contents

Though decorated pots do not have any redstone component in them, they can still be detected by a redstone comparator. When a redstone comparator is placed next to a decorated pot with some amount of items, the former can detect the number of items present inside the latter and send a signal accordingly.
