In Minecraft, players can create various types of lamp posts to light up the surrounding areas of a base. This method is frequently used to stop hostile mobs from spawning. While placing normal torches around an area will do the trick, players can build custom lamp posts and lantern designs to make the base look prettier. They can add more details to the lamp posts with the help of various building blocks.
Here are some of the best lamp post designs players can build in Minecraft.

Five Minecraft lamp posts and lamp designs that are simple to build
1) One-sided lamp post
One of the simplest lamp posts that players can create is a one-sided hanging lantern. In this particular design, the chiseled stone brick block is used, followed by stone brick walls, spruce fences, stairs, and trapdoors. In the end, two chains were placed on the last trapdoor and a lantern was hung from it.
The one-sided lamp post can be much simpler than this as well, with only a few oak fences and a lantern hanging from one end. This type of lamp post can be used to light up a path, with each of them built on either side of the path.
2) Multi-directional lamp post with direction sign boards
With a slight modification to one-sided lamp posts, players can build multi-directional lamp posts with direction boards on them. This lamp post design can not only light up the area at night but also direct players toward different structures or biomes in all four directions.
It can be either simple or complicated depending on a player's willingness. Finally, they can place sign boards and write the structure and biome names on them with an arrow pointing towards a certain direction.
These lamp posts can not only be located near a base but can be placed anywhere in the Minecraft world to direct players more accurately to various points of attraction.
3) Indoor/Outdoor lamp design
This particular lamp post design is unique since it can be built both inside and outside a base or a structure. If it is inside a structure, it can be built on a ceiling, while it can be built as an arch lamp post out in the open. This is one of the simplest designs that use signs as a lamp cover. It only uses some wood fences, lanterns, and regular signs.
4) Shroomlight lamp post
While lanterns are one of the best light blocks to be used for lamp posts, players can also use other light blocks in Minecraft, like shroomlights. Shroomlights are blocks that are found growing inside large crimson mushrooms in the Crimson Forest in the Nether. These lights can be mined with a regular tool and used as a light source.
This particular lamp post was made up of chiseled deepslate blocks, deepslate brick walls, mangrove slabs, stairs, and trapdoors.
Once all the regular blocks are placed, players can place two chains hanging down either side, place shroomlights, and cover them up with mangrove wood trapdoors. These trapdoors will allow players to see shroomlights through them.
5) Noise-activated redstone lamp post
If players want to create a slightly more advanced lamp post, they can choose to create this redstone lamp post that is activated with any noise. Though the design is quite simple, it consists of a redstone lamp that lights up when a redstone signal is passed through it.
Furthermore, players can use a sculk sensor on top and hide it with stone brick stairs. Since the sensor activates from any noise and sends a redstone signal, this lamp post will essentially light up whenever any entity makes a sound.
