The worst Minecraft enchantments should be avoided, much like fighting an enderman without a pumpkin helmet — it simply doesn't end well. The game presents many poor enchantments, but it's advisable to steer clear of them unless you're either curious to test every spell or want to punish yourself for forgetting to feed your in-game dog.
This article lists the six worst Minecraft enchantments you should avoid.

Worst Minecraft enchantments that you should avoid: Curse of Vanishing and more
1) Curse of Vanishing
Curse of Vanishing is one of the worst Minecraft enchantments you can use on yourself or your friends. Upon death, items enchanted with it will immediately disappear instead of just being dropped on the ground.
If you enchant a hard-earned netherite sword or any other item with the Curse of Vanishing and then get eliminated, it will vanish forever. Additionally, the fact that it is impossible to disenchant an affected item or weapon easily ranks this as one of the worst Minecraft enchantments.
2) Thorns
Thorns is yet another Minecraft enchantment that will cause you harm rather than make your life easier. If a mob wearing armor with this enchantment is dealt damage, the attacker will also take damage. Moreso, it reduces the durability of your armor, making it last less than usual.
Additionally, if you attack any hostile mob wearing this enchanted armor, you will also receive damage. Since mobs can pick up items after you are eliminated, it acts as a double-edged sword, allowing the mob to run unchecked since it becomes difficult to eliminate it.

3) Knockback
Knockback massively increases melee knockback, pushing away mobs that try to harm you. Although it might make you feel invincible, this is one of the worst Minecraft enchantments since it prevents you from easily eliminating mobs.
Eliminating mobs is the only way to get the loot and items dropped by them. However, Knockback can easily push them off a cliff and into inaccessible areas, making it increasingly difficult for you to obtain loot. Despite seeming like a boon, this is a counterproductive enchantment that isn't worth the hassle.
4) Frostwalker
Frostwalker is a unique enchantment for boots that turns water under the player's feet into ice, allowing them to traverse water bodies like oceans, seas, and more. It offers a complex way to navigate, which is unnecessary when there is a much simpler solution available — boats.
Rather than spend resources and time on Frostwalker, it is far easier to just build a boat and cross water bodies with ease. The limited functionality and use case makes this one of the worst Minecraft enchantments.

5) Blast Protection
Blast Protection is a niche enchantment that protects players from any explosion. The primary source of explosions in Minecraft is a creeper attack. However, this can be easily countered with a shield, one of the most inexpensive pieces of armor in the game.
The relative inexpensiveness of crafting a shield for blast protection, paired with the hassle of finding Blast Protection, easily ranks this as one of the worst Minecraft enchantments.
6) Curse of Binding
Curse of Binding binds a piece of armor or headgear to your body and makes it impossible to remove. The only way to get rid of it is by being eliminated. Similar to the Curse of Vanishing, this negative enchantment cannot be disenchanted. Additionally, it prevents you from being able to change or upgrade your armor in Minecraft — even if it is damaged.
Apart from pulling a fast prank on teammates, Curse of Binding serves no other positive purpose. The negative aspect and the near-nil functionality makes this one of the worst Minecraft enchantments.
