Minecraft 1.21 introduced a ton of new features to the game, including large and imposing trial chambers, dangerous mobs like the breeze and the bogged, a revamped bad omen, and a huge swath of new blocks. While these larger, more visually impressive features are often the ones most discussed, 1.21 also added a plethora of fresh items to the game for players to experiment with.

Seven of the best new 1.21 items to search for are detailed below, along with just what makes these items worth hunting down.

7 of the best new Minecraft 1.21 items to get

1) Mace

The mace is one of the most fun and exciting changes of any of the recent major Minecraft updates. This is the first weapon type added to the game since Village & Pillage's crossbow, and Mojang made sure the wait was worth it. The weapon has two major pieces of utility that make it stand out from all the other weapons that make up the player's arsenal.

The first is that falling long distances with the weapon will add damage to a successful hit. There's also no cap on this bonus damage. These strikes are known as smash attacks and also cause the second utility effect. Any mobs near the target of a smash attack will be blown back as if they were the mob struck. No other weapon in the game has an AOE knockback effect like this.

2) Crafter

Minecraft's revolutionary new crafter is perhaps the only 1.21 item that can give the mace a run for its money when it comes to utility. This block is a redstone component that can take raw materials as input and then combine them to make more complex items.

The potential of this block is almost incomprehensible. It can be used to automate the crafting of items with annoying or hard-to-remember recipes or to combine the outputs of Minecraft's best farms to automatically produce useful items.

Moreover, the crafter is only going to get more useful as new items and crafting recipes are added to the game in future updates.

3) Ominous bottles

As previously mentioned, bad omen received a major overhaul with 1.21. This revamp means that bad omen is no longer automatically applied when a raid captain is killed. Instead, it is applied by consuming a new item dropped by raid captains or vaults.

Additionally, bad omen is a branching effect that turns into trial omen or raid omen depending on what the player does. This means that two of Minecraft's best combat experiences are locked behind ominous bottles: ominous events and raids. Players will need to spend some time gathering plenty of these items if they want to farm either of these events.

4) Wind burst enchanted book

Wind burst is one of the new Minecraft mace enchantments added alongside the weapon in 1.21. It's also the rarest mace enchantment and cannot be obtained via villager trading or the enchanting table. The only way to obtain the effect is to open an ominous vault, which has a small 5.5% chance of dropping an enchanted wind burst book.

The enchantment is almost certainly worth grinding for, however, as it allows players to spring back up into the air after landing a smash attack with the mace. This allows players to chain smash attacks for truly insane damage potential against even the deadliest of Minecraft's mobs.

5) Wind charges

Wind charges are one of the most interesting items added with 1.21. Obtained via crafting, by breaking down breeze rods, or by looting vaults and ominous vaults, these items are like the charges shot by breeze mobs.

That means players can use these items to knock back and effect entities. That's where the utility of wind charges comes from. They can be used to get height quickly for either smash attacks or elytra flights, but they can also create distance between a player and a hostile mob and even flip levers, press buttons, and open doors and trapdoors. There's a ton that players can do with these 1.21 items.

6) Potions of oozing

Minecraft 1.21 added four new potions in total. Of these new potions, one stands out among the rest as particularly useful to get. This is the oozing potion. Brewed using a slime block, these potions cause affected mobs to spawn two medium slimes when killed. These medium slimes then each spawn two more small slimes when killed, which are capable of dropping slime balls.

This is what makes potions of oozing so amazing. A splash potion of oozing and a looting III sword can entirely replace larger underground slime chunk farms or surface swamp slime farms. It's a new and genuinely convenient way to get the resource in large numbers.

7) New music discs

Minecraft 1.21 also brought three new music discs to the game. These music discs are for the tracks "Precipe," "Creator," and "Creator (Music Box)" and can all be found within trial chambers. "Precipice" can be found within regular vaults. "Creator" can be found within ominous vaults, while "Creator (Music Box)" can be obtained from shattering trial chamber decorated pots.

These discs are particularly handy 1.21 items to get, as they make for amazing tracks to play within Minecraft survival bases. All three of these tracks are among the best songs in the game, so being able to play them whenever is quite nice.
