One of the biggest parity differences between Minecraft Java and Bedrock Editions can be found in the Wither boss mob. Bedrock's Wither is infamously difficult, with the second most health in the game at 300 hearts, the ability to destroy blocks at will, and eventually immunity to ranged damage and the ability to summon wither skeletons as backup.

This means that any Bedrock players wanting to hunt down a Nether star for a beacon will need to be very prepared for the boss. This article lists seven amazing tips for taking on Bedrock's Wither.

7 of the best tips for taking on Minecraft Bedrock's deadly Wither

1) Lower the difficulty

Unlike Java, the Wither in Minecraft Bedrock Edition actually has a different amount of HP depending on the world's difficulty. If the 300 hearts that a hard difficutly Wither has are proving too much to overcome, reduce the difficulty to easy. This will make its health 150, identical to Java Edition Withers.

This will also drastically reduce the damage that the Minecraft boss is able to deal and will even prevent it from applying the wither effect or spawning wither skeletons to aid it.

2) Avoid the giant explosions

Always try to avoid the Wither's explosions. The boss has two different points where it explodes violently, dealing huge damage to anything nearby. The initial explosion happens 11 seconds after it is spawned by players and deals more than 50 hearts to anything nearby on hard.

The second explosion happens once the Wither hits half health. The boss also spawns three wither skeletons and applies wither armor to itself. This makes it totally immune to ranged attacks and more aggressively pursue its targets. These wither skeletons are the ones unable to spawn if the difficulty is changed to easy.

3) Use distraction mobs

An interesting quirk of the Wither is that it's hostile to almost anything that isn't an undead mob. This means that if something other than the player gets too close, the boss will stop and attack it instead.

This means that players could set up small passive mob pens around the Wither arena to create distractions, giving themselves time to heal, cure status effects, and drink Minecraft potions for buffs.

4) Carry extra Totems of Undying

One of the things that Minecraft's Wither is best at is dealing damage. It's constantly shooting fireball skulls that can deal up to six hearts while also exploding for 2.5 extra damage and applying the wither effect to players, which deals even more damage over time. It's very easy for players to quickly get drained of health if they're not careful.

That's why bringing a few extra Totems of Undying is recommended for facing off against the Wither. These will give players a second chance to quickly heal and avoid death, should they get a little too distracted dealing damage to watch their hearts.

5) Travel far away from anything important

Bedrock's version of the Wither is infamous for its ability to destroy almost anything that gets in its way.

For this reason, it's highly recommended that players travel away from major Minecraft farms and bases before spawning the Wither to help minimize the destruction. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing a build that took several hours get destroyed in seconds due to the boss wandering the wrong way.

6) Bring plenty of golden apples

Golden apples are one of the best items available to players when it comes to staying alive. Regular golden apples are incredibly easy to get, thanks to Minecraft gold farms and efficient tree farms being easy to make. They also apply the absorption effect, granting players two temporary bonus hearts and five seconds of regeneration two. On Bedrock, this restores two hearts.

This means that golden apples give temporary HP, restore hearts through regeneration, and will also kickstart natural health regeneration. It's easy to see what makes them so useful for staying alive.

7) Bring milk buckets

Milk is a surprisingly powerful resource in Minecraft. It will clear the player of all status effects, positive and negative, when consumed. This makes it great for fighting the Wither since the wither status effect is essentially a deadlier poison that's able to actually kill players.

Drinking milk will remove this effect and make it possible to heal.
