Minecraft will receive the Garden Awakens Drop today (December 3, 2024). Despite being a smaller update, it still packs a punch—introducing the Pale Garden biome, the Creaking mob, and tons of new building blocks. This will also be the second drop update to come out this year after Bundles of Bravery.

Here are all the new major features in Minecraft's Garden Awakens Drop update.

The Creaking is a unique hostile monster that roams around the Pale Garden biome at night. This tree-like creature will only move if a player is not looking at it directly. This means that as soon as the Creaking leaves a player's screen, it will come over and attack them.

Moreover, the Creaking won't take any damage whatsoever from direct ranged or melee attacks. This is because its heart is essentially a block, located outside its body, in one of the pale oak trees. Players will have to search out and destroy the heart to kill the Creaking.

The next significant addition coming with the Minecraft Garden Awakens Drop is the Pale Garden biome. This spooky Overworld region is filled with Pale Oak trees. Although these new trees appear completely desaturated—giving the entire biome a black-and-white appearance, they resemble dark oak trees from the Dark Forest.

All other background noise will vanish as soon as players enter the Pale Garden, leaving them with eerie sounds of cracking wood. The sky will also turn grey, further enhancing the creepy atmosphere.

Although the biome is safe during the day, it is a challenging area to explore at night because of the dangerous monsters, including the Creaking, that spawn there.

Resin

Mojang will introduce a new resource called Resin alongside the Pale Garden biome and Creaking mob. The Creaking's heart will bleed Resin drops whenever someone hits the mob directly with a melee or ranged weapon.

Resin clumps can be obtained by mining these resin deposits. It can then be smelted into resin bricks and used to craft various building blocks. This will allow players to experiment with a completely new construction block thanks to the resin's distinct texture and vivid orange color.

Resin bricks can also be used to color armor trim designs.

With the Garden Awakens Drop, Mojang will be adding yet another wood block set. Since the Pale Garden generates new pale oak trees, players will have access to a completely new kind of wood. Except for log blocks with dark barks, this wood set will be entirely white. They can also be crafted into building blocks like planks, slabs, stairs, doors, trapdoors, buttons, etc.
