There are several kinds of mobs in Minecraft. These creatures dwell in all three dimensions: Overworld, Nether, and End. Some of them also have smaller baby versions, which players can manually spawn by breeding two adult mobs with each other. Moreover, certain baby mobs also spawn from their respective eggs.

This article discusses mobs that spawn from eggs in vanilla Minecraft.

Chickens are among the most common mobs that spawn from their respective eggs. Every chicken that roams around the Overworld has a chance of dropping one egg every five to 10 minutes. These can be picked up by players as an item. Though they can be used to craft items like cake and pumpkin pie, their other use is to spawn eggs.

When players throw these eggs, it has a 12.5% chance of spawning a baby chicken from it. This means that spawning baby chickens through this process is quite rare.

Turtle

Turtle eggs, as the name suggests, spawn turtles upon hatching. When two turtles are bred with each other using seagrass, one of them will find a place in the sand to generate them. Turtle eggs in Minecraft are extremely fragile and can break if players or any other entity except turtles sit on them. Since zombies are designed to destroy these eggs, players are required to protect them at all costs.

Turtle eggs take about four to five in-game nights to hatch, and 90% of them will hatch during the night.

Sniffers are the newest Minecraft mob on this list that hatch from their egg. Sniffer eggs are rare since they only have a 6.7% chance of generating as chest loot in ocean ruins. Once they are found, they can be placed anywhere as a block and can take up to 20 minutes to hatch. If they are placed on top of a moss block, it takes them 10 minutes to hatch. Once hatched, a baby sniffer or snifflet would spawn from it, which can be fed torchflower seeds to grow.

Tadpole

Tadpoles are essentially baby versions of frogs that also spawn from their own eggs, called frogspawns. Frogspawns are non-solid blocks that frogs generate when they breed with each other after eating slimeballs. These unique eggs are laid on water and take about three to 10 minutes to hatch. It is worth mentioning that one frogspawn can spawn several tadpoles.

Tadpoles in Minecraft take around 20 minutes to grow into one of the three mobs, depending on the biome they are in.
