All mobs added to Minecraft in 2024

The addition of new mobs in Minecraft is always exciting. When it comes to the inhabitants of the blocky world, the more the merrier. 2024 was a great year as Mojang’s title got four new mobs. From companion-friendly creatures to challenging enemies, the developers ensured that the new addition keeps everything balanced.

There were two major update drops this year, and one more is just around the corner. The Armored Paw drop added the armadillo mob to the game, while the Tricky Trials update introduced two new hostile mobs: the bogged and the breeze.

The upcoming Garden Awakens update will add a new biome called the Pale Garden, along with another hostile mob called the Creaking. This takes the total number of new mobs added to the game to four. Note that we are not including wolf variants, which were introduced this year as the furry companion has been present in the game for years.

The armadillo is one of the cutest mobs in Minecraft. Not only that, but these tiny shy creatures are extremely useful as well. They drop armadillo scutes when players brush them, which can be used to craft wolf armor. This feature not only enhances wolf survivability but also gives players more reason to look for the new mob.

Players have long requested utility-focused additions for pets, and the Armadillo checks this box. It is also an example of Mojang Studios responding to community feedback while maintaining the game’s balance.

Speaking of balance, the developers added two new challenging mobs that can be found in specific locations. The bogged is a variant of the skeleton and can be found in swamps and the trial chambers. This mob shoots poisonous arrows that make defeating the bogged quite difficult.

The breeze is the overworld counterpart of the blaze found in the nether fortress. It uses strong gusts of wind to attack players, and with its impressive speed, taking down this mob in Minecraft can get very difficult.

The Garden Awakens is coming

The fourth mob, called the Creaking, will be coming tomorrow, December 3, with the Garden Awakens update drop. This hostile mob only spawns inside the Pale Garden biome at night. It also attacks players when they break eye contact.

Another aspect of the Creaking in Minecraft that makes it interesting is how it can be defeated. It does not take any damage from normal attacks, and players have to break the Creaking Heart to defeat this mob.
