Yearning for the mines had become a popular phrase that described the basic principle where players mine to craft and then craft to mine some more. It originates from a 2022 tweet by @Froggenthusias1:
It satirically references the old laws which abolished child labor. Earlier, children were sent along with adults to mines to harvest coal, ores, and other resources. However, with stricter laws over labor, this was stopped.
The meme gained even more traction after certain political parties rewrote labor laws to lower to age for work, and in response, thousands of users used the hashtag #childrenyearnforthemines.
After the trailer was released, numerous players flocked to the original post, suggesting that this tweet sparked the plot of the movie.
The gaming community was in splits after the trailer was released, with many gamers hilariously stating that the Gen Z fever has taken over the A Minecraft movie team.
