One of the only bad parts about a new major Minecraft update, such as the recently released 1.21 Tricky Trials update, is that it takes a bit of time for mods to be updated for new versions. Thankfully, it's been long enough that most major mods have finally been updated to 1.21. This means that players can start to think about creating custom modpacks using the most entertaining mods again.

Seven incredibly fun Minecraft mods for the Tricky Trials update can be found below, along with links to their download pages and what exactly makes them so great.

1) End Remastered

End Remastered by jack_bagel, is a very entertaining exploration mod that revamps how players reach Minecraft's End Dimension. Instead of turning ender pearls into eyes of ender, players will need to explore almost all of the game's biomes to find different eyes. This adds a ton of replay value and makes exploration feel new and exciting again.

2) Repurposed Structures

Repurposed Structures, created by telepathicgrunt, is a wonderfully simple Minecraft structure mod that adds a ton of replay value to the game. The mod makes it so that each vanilla structure can be generated in the style of other base game structures. There are also new biome-variants of structures added for even more variety.

For example, villages can spawn in the shape of end cities, monster rooms have plentiful biome variants, and there are ominous ruined Nether portals found throughout the end dimension.

3) Occultism

Occultism, a mod created by kli_kli, focuses on adding a robust system of ritual magic to the game. This magic is used to summon spirits, which can then be used to do things like automate tasks, store items, and create powerful enchanted items. Magic and fantasy features are quite light in the vanilla game, making Occultism a great and fun way to add to this side of Mojang's blocky masterpiece.

4) Explorify

Explorify is another Minecraft structure mod, this one created by bebebea_loste. While Repurposed Structures revamped the base game structures, Explorify instead adds a range of entirely new ones to find, explore, and loot. These structures not only look great, but they make exploration much more fun by adding to the variety of things that players can find.

While most of these new structures are located in the overworld, both Minecraft's Nether and the End dimension received new sights to see as well. This helps to encourage players to spend more time in these dimensions, which should be a nice change of pace from regular survival.

5) Friends & Foes

Friends & Foes is a mob-based mod by Faboslav. It aims to add some of the unimplemented Minecraft mobs from past mob votes to the game while also expanding on them. There are copper and tuff golems, glares, iceologers, mooblooms, barnacles, wildfires, and rascals currently added.

These additions feel like they belong in the game, in large part due to them being officially teased features. It's uncertain if Mojang will ever revisit these ideas, making Friends & Foes a fun way to see what could have been.

6) Pufferfish's Skills

Pufferfish's Skills, by Pufferfish, is a truly incredible Minecraft RPG mod. It adds a secondary leveling system to the game, granting points that players can spend on large, sprawling skill trees. The buffs granted are entirely customizable and configurable, with the community having created many different skill trees to pick from. This adds a ton of personalization and customization to playthroughs.

The Creeper Overhaul mod by joosh_7889, as the name suggests, greatly expands on Minecraft's iconic vanilla creeper. There are a number of new biome-specific variants, all designed to blend in with their surroundings. This already makes them more of a threat, as they're much harder to see, but many of them also have unique explosion effects to watch out for.
