Ravines are some of the oldest and most impressive of the terrain features that are capable of generating in Minecraft. They resemble tears in the ground, exposing a large number of ores and cave systems found below. This makes them amazing places to set up base, as they can give players access to enough materials to survive and eventually beat the game.
This article lists five amazing survival base designs that will make settling and eventually taming ravines stylish as well as efficient.

5 of the best bases to build around Minecraft ravines
1) Ravine city
There are few Minecraft builds as iconic or impressive as large-scale city builds, and cities built around ravines are no exception. These builds feature several distinct buildings and districts located around the top of the ravine, connected via suspended bridges, pathways, and maybe even redstone flying machines later on.
There are many different styles of cities that could be located atop a ravine as well. Players could use the abundant ores and caves to justify making a large-scale mining town or lean into the rustic, natural feel to make a series of connected treehouses along the sides of the ravine.
2) Ravine bridge base
As mentioned, ravines are amazing to find in survival due to how many Minecraft ores and caves they can reveal. However, they can also be quite annoying, as they can force players to take the long way around when getting from place to place. A great way to solve this issue while using the ravine as a home would be to make a base that also acts as a bridge.
As with many other ravine base designs, there's almost unlimited potential for customization here. Players could take cues from the surrounding terrain and trees and make a matching base, or go for something bright that contrasts with the environment in a visually striking way.
3) Ravine wall base
There are few designs that can take advantage of the ravine's unique terrain quite like a ravine wall base. These builds consist of distinct rooms that have been carved out of the surrounding stone and dirt. These rooms are then connected by platforms and bridges running alongside the walls, with occasional bridges allowing people and mobs to cross from one side to the other.
These different rooms can then be customized with different aesthetics based on their purpose. For instance, there could be a dedicated Minecraft enchanting room decorated with lapis and amethyst blocks, while a storage area could be made of iron or copper blocks to lean into the industrial vibe.
4) Underwater ravine base
One of the most satisfying places to build a base is underwater, as it feels like the elements have been conquered. This is exactly why it's been a fan-favorite thing to do for years. It's unexpected and forces players to think outside the box when it comes to the kinds of underwater Minecraft decorations that get used.
There's also a surprising number of different styles of underwater ravine bases to consider. Players could look for a submerged ravine that runs through a coral reef for a splash of color and a chance to work on custom underwater terraforming projects. Meanwhile, a frozen ocean might make for a great place to build a sunken ice base.
5) Glasstop ravine base
Ravines are as dangerous as they are beautiful. They tend to be so deep that falling into them can result in instant death. If it doesn't, the hostile Minecraft mobs found in the caves below will finish the job. Thankfully, there are a few stylish and effective ways to fix this.
The first would be to add a glass floor to a base built over the top of a ravine. This will keep players safe while leaving the remarkable view intact. Players could also build at the bottom of the base and seal off the top so mobs, such as Minecraft's creeper, can't randomly drop down and destroy things. These designs are also a great opportunity to work with the game's different stained glass colors.
