Many of Minecraft 1.21's features are easy to see. Trial chambers are large and imposing structures, the update's new mobs will spawn and attack players, and the new songs added to the game will appear naturally over time. However, there's another type of change found in 1.21 that's much harder to see but just as important: quality of life changes.

These changes make the player's lives easier in some way, and 1.21 has plenty of them. The five best Minecraft 1.21 quality of life changes are detailed below, along with just what about the change makes things easier for players.

Five of Minecraft 1.21's best quality of life changes and features

1) The crafter

The crafter is one of the interesting 1.21 features. This redstone component can take items as input and combine them into more complex items, introducing the automated crafting that many of Minecraft's best mods are known for to the vanilla game.

This redstone component is inarguably the largest quality of life change in 1.21. Players can create small machines to automate the crafting of items with hard-to-remember or complex recipes. Additionally, many of Minecraft's best farms can be chained together, linking outputs to make an interconnected network of automatic crafting.

2) New slime farms

There are six new status effects being added to the game with 1.21. Some of these are Minecraft potion effects, with the oozing potion in particular being an amazing quality-of-life item for players. This potion causes affected mobs to spawn two medium slimes on death. These slimes then spawn smaller slimes, which can drop slime balls.

This is what makes them amazing QoL features, They can make convenient and efficient Minecraft slime farms, especially when using a looting sword and splash potions of oozing. The slime block needed to brew oozing potions might seem expensive at first, but it's incredibly easy to get more slime than that with a well-tossed potion.

3) Trial maps

Minecraft villager trading has been made even more powerful in 1.21. Cartographer villagers offer a map trade at the journeyman level for a new type of explorer map. Similar to the pre-existing ones for woodland mansions and ocean monuments, this map can take players straight to a nearby trial chamber.

This makes locating one of these new, dangerous Minecraft structures much more convenient than it otherwise would be. Needing to dig around randomly and hoping to find one would have been a much more frustrating system.

4) Bad omen revamp

Bad omen received a major rework in Minecraft 1.21. This rework changed bad omen away from both being automatically applied and starting raids. Bad omen is now a foundational effect that leads to new effects that start raids and ominous events.

As previously mentioned, bad omen is no longer automatically applied. This is what makes the revamp such a great QoL feature. Players no longer need to worry about accidentally starting a raid because a pillager group spawns near a village. Instead, they have total control over when a bad omen is applied through the consumption of ominous bottles.

5) New blocks

Another great quality of life feature of 1.21 is the new blocks and crafting recipes introduced for builders. The first block range is the set of copper blocks added in Minecraft 1.21. This includes trapdoors, doors, grates, and bulbs, as well as a new chiseled copper block. These all work amazingly well in steampunk builds, making the lives of builders who enjoy that aesthetic much more convenient.

Tuff is the other block type expanded in 1.21. Polished tuff and tuff bricks were introduced as more processed versions of the block. Additionally, regular tuff, polished tuff, and tuff bricks had stair, slab, and wall variants introduced, making them much easier to use while detailing builds. Regular tuff and tuff bricks also received a new chiseled variant.

Getting these new blocks is also quite easy, as trial chambers are made up almost entirely of them. This means that, in a way, trial chambers are a quality of life feature for builders wanting to take advantage of these new blocks.
