Sadly, horses cannot go on boats in Minecraft Bedrock. Earlier editions allowed equestrians to board and sail with players. As of the recent 1.19.81 updates, horses cannot do that anymore.

This is probably due to a logical decision from Mojang where boats technically should not be able to bear the weight of a horse. But this has been protested by players who feel that it is a major handicap since the horse is one of the best early-game transport options.

Thankfully, the game still lets certain animals get on boats and accompany you in your travels. Most players use boats to travel animals they have domesticated or tamed, allowing them to bring livestock back to their bases.

Here are some of the animals that can get on boats in Minecraft:

• Fox
• Sheep
• Hen
• Pig
• Cat
• Rabbit
• Llama

Many other mobs can also be put on boats. Another fun fact is that if you put a docile mob like sheep on your boat, a nearby wolf or fox will get on and eliminate your sheep. Protect your animals from mobs when you keep them stationary on boats.

Boats can also be used to transport resources in-game. You can harvest resources and build a boat with a chest to traverse farther and then carry your haul back to base. You can craft a boat with a chest by placing a chest and a boat next to each other, as displayed above.
