The different Minecraft farms designed by the community over the years are among the most important things to build in any survival world. They allow for the automated collection of incredibly useful items. However, many of these designs are quite complex, requiring numerous different resources and large amounts of time to build. Thankfully, there are plenty of farm designs that are easy to make.
Detailed below are seven different survival farms that are easy to build while also providing incredibly useful resources and materials.

7 of the easiest farms to build in Minecraft 1.21
1) AFK fish farms
AFK fish farms are one of the simplest farms to make, requiring only a handful of resources. They also take up next to no space in a Minecraft survival base. While Mojang has changed how fishing treasure works, specifically to nerf these farms, they're still amazing sources to accumulate food and XP while away from the computer.
2) Sugarcane farms
Sugarcane farms are classic survival farms that are as easy to make as they are iconic. As with many of Minecraft's most useful farms, automatic sugarcane farms utilize observers and pistons to automatically harvest grown crops. This sugarcane can then be converted into paper for bookshelves or firework rockets for flying with elytra.
3) Kelp farm
Kelp farms are similar to sugarcane farms. They use observers to detect when the crops are fully grown and pistons to break them. However, kelp is arguably more useful than sugar cane. It can be dried, eaten as food, or made into kelp blocks. These blocks of dried kelp can smelt 20 items, allowing for an infinite loop of fuel.
More advanced kelp farms can even be connected to an automatic smelter to create an XP bank. This trifecta of uses is what makes a kelp farm so incredible to build.
4) Cow crusher
Cow crushers are Java-exclusive farms that take advantage of entity cramming to function. Only a certain number of entities can exist in an area. Any entities beyond this limit take massive damage. Players can trap cows in a single block space above a hopper and breed them. As baby cows are born, adult cows die, and their drops are collected.
The most expensive component of these farms is the single hopper that they use, making them great early-game farm choices. Additionally, the leather they drop can be used to make a level 30 Minecraft enchanting setup, which is vital for long-term survival.
5) Piglin bartering farms
Piglin bartering farms, as with many other variants, have several designs ranging in complexity. At their simplest, these farms consist of piglins trapped in trading pods where gold is fed to them. Their bartered drops are then collected by hoppers for players. These farms can produce useful items such as fire resistance Minecraft potions, ender pearls, iron nuggets, obsidian, and leather.
6) Zombified piglin farms
While large-scale Minecraft zombified piglin farms are incredibly complex, there are several different designs that can be built in less than 10 minutes while also requiring little in the way of resources. These farms are so useful due to the high amounts of XP they can provide. Additionally, the gold they produce can be used to power the previously mentioned piglin bartering farms.
7) Melon/Pumpkin farms
Melon and pumpkin farms are easy-to-build crop farms that use observers and pistons to automatically break and collect resources. While these materials might sound expensive, in reality, they can be made quite cheaply. These farms are incredibly modular, allowing players to build them as large or small as needed.
Minecraft melons and pumpkins are so great to farm for a few reasons. They can be converted into emeralds at a decent rate, allowing these simple farms to power even large villager trading halls. Additionally, melons can be combined with gold to make glistering melon slices, which are needed to brew potions of healing.
