Minecraft is immensely popular and has managed to stay so for more than 15 years. So, one would expect that spin-offs of the main game would also be overnight successes. Unfortunately, both MC Dungeons and Legends have failed to be successful, leading to their termination. However, there are many players who love the mechanics and style of the spin-offs. This is where mod packs come in, which can turn Vanilla Minecraft into Dungeons in terms of appearance and art style.
A Minecraft player and Reddit user u/trickstercrows shared some images on the subreddit of the game, showing the method of making the vanilla version look like the blocky dungeon crawler game. The first two images show how the game looks after the mod while the last two images show the mods and shader packs used for this transformation.
In a comment, the original poster also mentioned a list of mods required to achieve this effect. The list included:

- ETF/EMF
- BetterCombat
Another user named u/yuberino said they thought the images shown were actually of MC Dungeons until they read the title. It is quite fascinating, how mods allow the game to be completely transformed.
u/GionaTorsolo said that it looks beautiful and commended the OP for suggesting it. Meanwhile, u/Outrageous_Wafer_388 joked about having decided their plans for the day while referencing the popular show, Phineas and Ferb.
Redditor u/megamaz_ inquired about the “accelerating enchantment” on the top-right side of an image. The original poster clarified that it was Haste from their beacon.
u/Titaniatic pointed out that while it looks very cool, building or just playing the game in this mode could be quite inconvenient. The original poster agreed, saying that it is really inconvenient to do anything in the game, and the mode is only cool for taking screenshots or just walking around and exploring.
u/paza87 asked how this mod works when someone goes inside structures or caves, but unfortunately, to no reply. We speculate that it would perhaps not work properly, given the OP calling the mode impractical for proper gameplay.
Mods can make Minecraft better
While Mojang Studios continuously tries to send out updates and make the game better, they cannot handle everything that fans want. For example, the Tricky Trials update added the mace, an extremely powerful weapon. But it is also incredibly difficult to obtain. So a player made a resource pack that enables the users to make a copper mace.
This mace requires a lightning rod and a heavy core block. What’s even better is that during a thunderstorm, it can get charged, increasing its damage power. Perhaps the developers might think of adding variants of the mace to make the game more interesting in the future, but only time will tell.
