Minecraft is deceptively complex and difficult. The constant threat of hostile mobs, starvation, and environmental danger, combined with complicated systems like redstone and item farming, betray just how simple and easy the game appears to be on the surface. Thankfully, though, there are plenty of built-in systems to make survival much more manageable.

Seven of the best examples of these features can be found detailed below, along with just how they make survival easier.

7 Minecraft features that make survival easier and more convenient

1) Villager trading

Minecraft villager trading is one of the most powerful systems that players have access to. They can convert common items like sticks, melons, rotten flesh, and string into emeralds, which can then be turned into enchanted diamond gear, enchanted books, and other amazing items.

Villager trading encompasses so many different items and materials that it can trivialize much of the struggles of traditional survival, at least when it comes to resource gathering. This offeres a huge convenience to players.

2) Enchanting

While many of the game's enchantments are useful, many of the mining variants in particular make the experience much more convenient. Efficiency can be combined with Minecraft beacons to allow players to instantly mine blocks. Fortune causes ores to drop many more items than they normally would, meaning that they have to spend less time mining.

Silk Touch allows for the collection of more items, such as glass, ice, and bee nests in Minecraft , which would otherwise be almost impossible to obtain in large numbers in regular survival worlds.

3) Shulker boxes

Shulker boxes are incredibly handy for solving the game's inventory issue. A single Minecraft shulker box has the same inventory slots as a chest, but only takes up a single spot in the player's inventory. This means that they can carry around exponentially more items, making large-scale building projects much easier to pull off.

4) Ender chests

Ender chests make the game easier for a similar reason as shulker boxes. A player's ender chest acts as a universal storage. This means that players can access whatever they place within one of these containers from anywhere. Essentially, items that players always want to have access to can be left in ender chests for instant access, making inventory management much simpler.

5) Potions

Minecraft's many potions are an amazing example of a feature that makes survival much less stressful. There are a number of different alchemical agents that players can brew up to make different areas easier.

For a few examples, fire resistance potions make the Nether much safer to explore by making lava deal no damage. Potions of night vision make it possible to see even in the darkest of environments. Slow-falling potions make it impossible to take any fall damage at all.

6) Mob spawners

Mob spawners are an interesting feature when it comes to simplifying survival. On the surface, they only seem to make living harder by summoning a near-constant source of hostile mobs. However, this is exactly what makes them incredibly convenient to have nearby.

Some of Minecraft's best farms are centered around mob spawners, such as those for blaze, dungeon XP, and magma cubes. This is because having a constant source of hostile mobs means a constant source of their item drops. This essentially means that players never have to go out hunting for these specific mobs again.

7) The crafting book

The crafting book is an often overlooked feature. It's the toggleable guidebook that appears to the left of the regular crafting interface. It gives players a way to reference crafting recipes for any items that they have discovered or unlocked.

While the wiki is a great source of in-depth information, this is much more convenient than having to minimize the game and pull up the website just for a recipe.
