Minecraft is essentially owned by Microsoft since Mojang Studios, the developer who created the sandbox, is owned by the conglomerate as well. Hence, the Java, Bedrock, and even Education editions of the game can be found only on the Microsoft Store on Windows. It is not found on one of the most popular platforms, Steam.

Ever since Minecraft was bought by Microsoft, the only way to install the game on Windows is through the Microsoft Store. Though Steam does allow players to add games into its library that it does not host, this is not the case for the sandbox since Microsoft apps aren't visible on it.

Hence, the community has come up with an application that ports Microsoft apps like Minecraft into Steam - UWPHook.

You must first search for UWPHook on the web and download it from GitHub. When the GitHub website opens, you will be able to see the "Release" button, which will take you to the latest version. From that page, you will be able to download the UWPHook.exe file. Once downloaded, the file can be directly opened.

If everything is done correctly, you will be able to see both the official launcher and the Bedrock Edition on Steam Library. You can run the launcher through Steam to start the Java Edition or Bedrock Edition. Since Java Edition is not essentially an .exe file, it cannot be directly added to the Steam library. Hence, the launcher is essential for that edition of the game to run.
