Ground items in Minecraft refer to the host of debris and blocks that float on the ground, be it from clearing an area or a happy accident with a little too much TNT. Clearing every block or item individually is a hassle and takes up a lot of time.

However, Minecraft has a command that helps you clear things up in an instant – the kill command. This command, much like Avada Kedavra, can eliminate entities as well as items.

Read on to learn how you can clear ground items in Minecraft with the Kill command.

1) Make sure commands are enabled

Before you can use the kill command, ensure that commands are enabled in your game. In a Java world, you can enable commands when creating a new world by toggling the Allow Commands tab to ON. This can only be done during world creation and is not possible once your world is created.

Another way to do it after your world has been created is to start it up in LAN mode and turn the Allow Commands tab to ON from the settings. Do note that this setting will make your world visible to all other devices connected to your network.

As for the Bedrock edition, you can simply head over to the settings menu and turn on cheats by scrolling down to the bottom. Unlike the Java edition, you can enable cheats even after creating a world.

Once you have enabled commands, simply pull up the console by using the forward slash ('/') character. After the command line is open, type or paste the following command:

/kill @e[type=minecraft:item]

Using this command will instantly clear ground items in Minecraft and remove all blocks/items. In the Java edition, you will receive a command line message that will state the number of items removed.

As for the Bedrock edition, using the command will not only clear ground items in Minecraft but also give you a list of all items/blocks removed. This is helpful if you are trying to create builds in-game or want to know what kind of debris is lying around in your world.
